  1. Disclaimer: This isn't a post to brag but just to share with those who are in school or those thinking about it or have kids about to go. I did 5 years of college. 5 years because I goofed off my first year and picked up a minor while there. I graduated with a ME degree and minor in busn. I left school with a total debt of $45k in May 2007. I didn't start my current job until Sept of that year. Two days ago I made my final loan payment! I went to live back home and didn't go crazy with the new income. No new car, no spedning habits and really only finished the Z. Now I can look forward to saving and finally buying a "new" DD. So for those who want/will/are planning on college and afriad of not having the money....go for it! It has been a huge weight lifted off my shoulders......26 next month and debt free! Planning on going back to school this May now with work paying for it.
  2. 18s look so stupid! Give me a break. If you have enough HP, diameter of the wheel will go out the window. If you are worried about handling and retaining stock body lines then size does matter. I am speaking of a street car here. Really, if I was worried about a second or so on the track....maybe I would spend the time to "down size" my wheels to 16s if it was worth it. Again, I would have to have the knowledge to know what I gain as far as rotating mass, I don't lose in "grip" while conering. I know there are more componets than just wheel size here at play. I just can't believe I see statments saying 18s and 19s are just wrong on a Z and look horrible.
  3. Next step would be to call JCI and Speartech.
  4. With flares: Cut flares out: Next step no pic....welded in the stock dog legs back in. The dog legs on my car were FG and the inner wheel well needed to be repaired. Then a re-cut for ZGs. Finish product:
  5. Here is a pic of the car the day you picked her up: I can't wait to see this car back on the road. Your plans sound great and plenty of info here on the site. Keep us updated!
  6. Ok guyz, here is a vid at Joe's (rags) house we shot today. Lets get this AC stuff figured out:
  7. Painted, also the hood hinges are paint too.
  8. I am going to order a CF spoiler, but I need to order a few more parts and need them all shipped to me. I will call up on Monday....so if it helps you can add me to the list.
  9. I know someone with a pair if you can't find the one.
  10. I have to agree here, I took my full cage out of my car because even with padding....I bumped my head on it and I will tell you it scared me. I can't imagine running with no padding and no helmet. Now I am running the main hoop only and have no padding on it. I have never been told I needed it. I am a noob to the track events and thought someone would have said something. Like others have said, the brand of seat shouldn't be so important....it should be if it is safe for you. I am sure I will be changing seats when I plan to buy a Hanns device. Just something to keep in mind....safety first.
  11. Very nice. I will keep an eye on this one. I have always wanted to do something with a rwd maxima. This will have to be after the 510s tho!
  12. I had to use bigger washers when I installed mine. The holes they precut for the turn signals were too big and the stud on either side would fall into the hole. I called them about it and they were asking me stupid questions...so I fixed it myself. What trouble are you having?
  13. Welcome to Joes Garage.

  14. Bad pic I know, looks like a finned diff to you guys right?

  17. Yeah everyone guess where I am heading....Joe's house. Tonight install 240z bumpers on the car! This car has come a long way since it has been bought and Joe has done a great job finishing up a car that just needed some TLC. I will be starting a thread soon for a painter.....the guy who painted this car is also the one that painted my car and will start paint on my 70 car in two weeks...two weeks Joe! Gotta get the car to your house!
  18. Larry, I think if someone can get $25k-$30k for their lsx Z car that has all the right parts...I say that is great! If someone can get $40k-$50k for one built by a pro shop that was a full resto....great! Anything above that just falls into the range, a fool and their money will soon be parted...and I don't mean that in a bad way. If money was no object to me, I am sure I would pay lots of money for some of the cars on this side. There is a lsx car here for sale right now for $40k.....hard to fetch that kinda of money on a DIY site but someone who has the money and really wants it may pay that somewhere else. The one or two people who will pay $40k plus for a LSx car doesn't mean that is market value. I still believe $30k is top end of the Z market, unless it is a flat out race car.
  19. I think LS1 cars range from about 15k-25k depends on how much work has been done. Basic clean swaps with stock parts still on the car and decent paint....10-15k. Not saying my car is the nicest because there are plenty of Z cars on this site I would love to own....I have done, swap, mods to motor, brakes, suspen, paint, and other odds and ends. I think it adds atleast 5k to the value even if I have 15k worth of parts. So honestly I think $20k for my car is a great deal if you don't want to build one and your taste is close to what mine is but I have to add $5k to that price for me to even think about selling it. Some of these LSx cars I see on HBZ I think are great deals because all the work and time has been put in. I just started to like the build part of the cars, reason why I started another one. So how much is your time worth? Jeff is right, I wouldn't take less than 25k for it and I know I have much more than that into it but you don't build cars to make money and if one thought the price was high, I would say price it all out and build =P
  20. I will, I don't think I can wait weeks for us to get ten people..plus I am going for the CF version. Hopefully he can still help out on the pricing.
  21. Yes, I think I am going to order tomorrow....my car should be back by then. I like it.
  22. Make an offer, you know my car first hand
  23. That is pretty nice, I may jump on that one vs the one I was waiting for.
  24. Jon, you are correct. The used pump isn't really an option....I stated that because I saw it somewhere. I was told by someone else, they ran one comp spring, one stock spring on the turbo pump and they were fine. I will think about running the oil cooler and might run a Nissan Comp oil pan. The fact that this car will not be tracked like the v8, it all might be over kill. Thanks Jon for the input.
