  1. Ok so not rushing and making sure everything works, I spent some time under my dash just to get the lighting to work. PITA. I found that there was a bad ground between the lighting circuit and the gauges. After many hours on my back and taking the gauges out.....I am happy to report that 3 hours of work is left. The ground for the gauges are all made and the harness for the lights as well. I am going to try and find LEDs for the lighting today before I put them back in. Once all that is done and back in, I have to figure out how I am going to get my speedo and tach to stay in the right place. Next is getting the heat back in the car....it is getting cold!
  2. Something to think about: http://my350z.com/forum/north-east/457431-be-on-the-look-out-stolen-gtr-wheels.html Don't let this happen to you....happens often here near NYC.
  3. I have the CF surrounds to go on. Also going with this CF spoiler: From a member here ^^^^ : http://www.zccjdm.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/dt86727/pd1851177/S30_Z_CAR__SPARROW_TAIL__REAR_SPOILER__240Z_280Z_
  4. Parting out is a PITA if you are in a rush or deal with idiots. I recovered $6400 in 6 months and never sold all the parts. I had a long spread sheet with prices, emailed it to people who wanted parts and handed it to those who came to the house. It was pretty easy but takes time....I had no job at the time (college student then). A swap if has to be in the 5k-8k range. I did it the long way, so my motor/trans/ecu/fans were all FREE.
  5. 335, will be too much I believe. I am very close right now to the spring perch and almost at the outside edge of the flare. So spent some time past few days figuring out my lighting issues. With the new euro tails and finally learning how all lighting comes through the hazard switch, Joe and I decided to make my signal stalk become a 260/280. With Joe in the house looking at the wiring diagram and me in the garage studying the 240 diagram....finally got all lights to work!!!!!! Huge deal because on the old Z, I had to stick my hand out the window when I saw a cop to make a turn Side note: if you get a chance to pick up one of those color diagrams from EBAY of your s30, do it!!! So today I tagged all wires and made all permanent connections. I think I will add the third brake light like cygnusx1 did and maybe red LEDS around the head light. Been working on the hatch......and working on it still! The shape of the hatch has gotten better since adding all the weight to it on the ground for two days. We will have to see what happens once I add the weather stripping in. Also working on the hatch lock as you can see in the pic. It will be raining for the next few days......hope to have her out by Thursday!
  6. Few months late and we now have almost 120 users on the site and picking up about 2 "new" Z guys a month in the area. Really looking forward to next year as this club grows.
  7. Greg happy birthday! Hope all is well and hope to see this v8 car soon! Don't forget to check out nyzcc.org
  8. I have to try that once I get to that point. The pictures you see is while no hatch seal in yet! The hatch just seems to be curved due to the stock glass. I have the hatch on the floor now with some "items" on top of the glass hoping that chnages the curve to be more flat. Pictures and results to follow. Safe trip back when you return.
  9. I wish, the car would have been done already! Joe likes watching me work and then goes in the house while I work. I think he does it so I can keep coming to the house everyday BTW...The sawz-all is a great tool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Nice! Did you run into the same little issue I did: http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=1071006&postcount=155 I have one more idea in mind.
  11. Ok, so we took a little longer than Dave thought (not 15 mins a side) but here is another Z note for everyone: the reason my first mounts didn't have enough material vs the one Bartman had in his hatch write up is.....I cut the mounts from a series 1 240z hatch and the mounts needed needs to be from a later hatch. If you ever get two of them side by side, you will see exactly what I am talking about. Anyway this is what we came up with today: Little gap on top of hatch I think that is caused from the CF hatch molding and not much I can do there...mounts and all are slotted. Last idea I have is to slot the hinge itself that mounts to the body. Pasn side, little bit of a gap too: Overall I guess the hatch isn't too bad. Not going to fit like factory but we shall see how close I can get it. New look with the front CF bumper mounted: Another update to follow.
  12. 1 tuff z will have control arms for sale soon, pm him.
  13. Thanks Jeff for the pics...... Adam #13 must of been something to see. I think the story behind the car is cool and being the lowest vin sold to the public. From pics I know the car was saved from a JY like 30 years ago.....it was made 5 months before my 70 car Dave, tell me about being careful now with the car painted. I know it will be tracked but I would like to keep the paint looking nice....miss the primer car! lol Front bumper mounted today.....rear bumper finally came today!....all gauges work! Glass was installed front and rear. I plan on towing the car to the shop to nut and bolt it because I found a few nuts and bolts loose from few months back when I was swapping from the old car. First drive is coming soon. I have to thank, Joe...Jeff...Amiel...and Alex for coming by on Friday and lending a hand. I know Cygnusx1 (Dave) is coming by tomorrow to lend a hand with the hatch.
  14. Maybe I missed it somewhere on the site......how is Phlebmaster an admin already? New to the site and new to Z cars itself. I guess he has a pc skill or has lots of time to spend on the forum to be bumped to RED. Just asking admins............seems to be a lot of new ones of late.
  15. Bolts finally came in, so it was time to install the Fast 90/90. Really like the way it come out, just needed to plug a hole in the back of the manifold where the PO drilled and tapped it. Still have to do more trimming on the fenders and air dam for clearance for the front wheels. This is my update for now...o yeah...she started back up!
  16. What is Woldson talking about? Asking someone what their education background is shouldn't be a problem based on a post or comment made.
  17. Thanks Dave! You and Joe already know I painted my car because of you guyz...wit ur nice damn cars! So at the point where I am mounting CF hatch and hood. Hood- I needed the stock hinges.....took them from a junk spare hood. I cut the old mounts out, then took an air chisel to it to get the spot welds off. stock mount: Of course took both sides off and ending up with this: Once sand blasted and painted mount both sides and you get: Do not crank down on the bolts to the hood, will crack the FG. So here she looks all done from the front: Soooooooo the hatch Took the mounts off: From there it went down hill because as you will see in the next pic, I cut away too much material.....honestly at the spot welds is where the holes need to go into the CF hatch. So my fix I am working on (Joe as welder): Weld a tab to the mount and bolt it all together...remove shims behind the hing on the body to line the hatch up correctly. Any input on the hatch would be great. So the intake bolts should be here this week, I took a day off (Friday) so I can drive it this week I say about 85% there.....
  18. Happy Bday sir......wish you many more! Enjoy the day with the family.
  19. A gallon of water weighs 8.35 lbs. John, I have evn heard of people dumping the water right down their suit before they hit the scales.
  20. Glass in the hatch. No cowl, don't like the look of it.
  21. Joe I can keep my eyes open for you on another set of euros.....I would advise you and Joel to watch ebay.au and ebay.uk every so often as they do come up. A euro set of 280zs just sold in the .au auction for $122usdm. I was just thinking, if I could get the cap black and red EVIL Z engrave....that would be sweet. lol
  22. No pins!! I have a spare hood and hatch that I am going to get the mounting points from and put them on the CF parts. Bartman just did this and it looks great. Yes very happy with raceonusa.com, honestly got here faster than I thought and they were very helpful with getting the parts shipped the same week I ordered.
  23. Yesterday the CF parts came in the mail and so far I have to say they look very good! I ordered them on 8/31 they were shipped 9/4 and got to me in NY on 9/10 Here are two pics of the parts just laying in place. I plan on getting them mounted this weekend and report back to you guys. Front: Rear: I also have the bolts I needed for the intake coming via mail and should have that all button up mid next week. Front CF bumper came last night....I need to call MSA today and find out where the back bumper is...3 week back order
  24. Sorry J I thought I answered a few days back. I stole the paint code from Janaka -Car painted with PPG 3794 basecoat (Chevy bright red). Your car and Justin's Z were of my favs and I loved the color of Janaka's car....so I went with that. After I have to work on getting lights like you
