  1. I have to take a picture of Joe while I am working on the car......sitting in the chair...feet out....hands folded behind his head, smiling!
  2. Correction, the started was wired backwards......upon finding that out I corrected it but didn't tighten down the nut because I could not reach laying on my back cause there is no lift to use. That fixed the blk/white wire issue....no biggie. Crank angle sensor......yes took sometime to find but even the book was wrong on its location. I am off to pick up some partz and my dremel!
  3. Today she started up and ran! Louder than I can remember but it was sweet music to my ears. Took awhile to remember where the hell the crank angle sensor was.....had to break out the LS1 book. Also in changing my fuel line setup....I installed the pump backwards at first....had no pressure in the rail of course. Got that switched and everything was good to go! Note to self: Pink wire from PCM needs to go the the blk/white wire from the back of the ignition switch. Can be spliced in right before fuse box. This is your 12v source during the cranking process. Also grey wire for the fuel pump needs to go to the green wire that goes from the front pasn side of the car back to where the harness comes out by the tank. This is your power source for your external fuel pump if that is going to be used. Wire colors are for the Speartech setup or labeling. Next job is to get the brakes done and bleed....clutch line....same thing. Might be able to take her down the road this weekend! :-D :-D Getting there guyz...slow but nicely. Joe is still yelling!!!!!!!! BTW, Paul...intake is coming soon. Sorry for working so slow!
  4. Who did you end up getting the CF hatch from and you made your own brackets to get it to work with stock hinges? I would like to use stock hinges on the hood and hatch.
  5. Joe, Looks like if we remove that washer from the nut and bolt on the front bracket it may pull the compressor clockwise some. I am comparing the two photos: Yours: Daves:
  6. Bartman, Can't believe I missed this thread....car looks great! I am starting to like that front air dam the more I look at it. The 3 tone paint job is nice.......finish her up!
  7. Well the car came back with a full tank and got washed the day after. Also got a camera mount as a thank you. Joe didn't make it up to the track, so he got the mount drilled for me @ his dad's house. The shop I took it to didn't want to touch it after I told them what car is was for. Your turbo car is safe! I want mine running by.............o who am I kidding.....no more dead lines!
  8. Thanks Dave! It is ebay special insulation, more to keep the heat out than noise. I have been slacking on updates: The car turned over yesterday for the first time since late Spring! This week I plan to get power to the FP and have her running. Plan for this week is to also finish up the rear brake lines. Dash is back in the car and finishing up last over the wiring.....Joe has been the lead on that. Also while I was out tracking his v8 Z, he was kind enough to install my diff. The TTT q45 mount had to be slotted in the rear and re-drilled. Reminder to self (tighten axles bolts) I got head lights working and marker lights. Honestly, wiring isn't that hard if you take your time and have someone yelling at you! Speaking of which, I need to grind down the driver side mount of the JCI kit....way to close to the alternator!!!!!!! I will try and take some pics this week.
  9. I have never seen an s30 with a z31 front end on it......what do you guys think? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-260Z-2-2-347-stroker-v8-5speed-ONE-OF-A-KIND_W0QQitemZ130324005955QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars?hash=item1e57ea8443&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  10. I do this about once every six months...so here I go... First of all, I NEVER said put a v8 in it and if you can read.....I said my low VIN (HLS30-01905) 2/70 rare 240Z is getting a L SERIES MOTOR. Yes my 71 has a v8, so did my 73....your point? Sticky how long have you been around Zs? You should know....cool and bling factor does not make the car worth any much more than a USDM 240z. Is it rare, yes....rare enough to turn back into stock....if you have 20k-25k sure. All I am saying to the owner is, it is your car..you live once...build it for you! Don't worry about how "rare" it is.....the car is not a 432R or anything "special" in the sense of dollar amount. So don't feel like you have to go back to stock...at the end of the day....it is just a rhd Z. With that said, I am looking to get a rhd also to add to the collection and I would build it to be a triple weber car......def not stock. If your car was much cleaner, I would say try to keep it stock but it looks far gone to go back down that road...unless....is the dash "crack-free"?
  11. I am getting excited! Call you tomorrow....o yeah just in time for you: http://nyzcc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=249
  12. So true, always more rust under paint and parts. Also RHD cars are not worth a ton more than a LHD.....as pointed out from the $350 purchase....more like cool factor. Extra 2k? Maybe for a clean and nearly stock car. What will it cost to get this car back to that shape? Who cares about resale value...you will lose money on any car anyway after you put money into it. I have a very low vin 70 car with 44k on it...all original...100%.....it is getting a L30ET
  13. I am not sure if this is your first s30 but I can bet you there is more rust than you think. I can see in the picture that the corners of the rad support will need some attenion. Be sure of what you are starting with and take your time. Check the firewall for rust, floors under jute and above the undercoating. The car has been repainted so you never know what you will find once you start to tear it down. It is very very cool what you found but just to be clear, these car cost $$$$$$$$$$$$ to restore or just plain old fix rust. Don't let the excitment and words of others here fool you......just ask guys who have stripped their car down....YOU ALWAYS FIND MORE RUST. Take more pics for us!!!
  14. Easy for people to say when it is not their own money to spend
  15. Great find! Here is what you really need to do.......anything you want....it is your car. Before you start spending money on new panels, be sure to strip the car down so you can check for rust. I see the rad support may need some work also the strut tower where it meets the inner fenders in the bay. What kind of shape is the int in? Guess you will have more pics for us when you get the car home. As you may know, whatever your budget is...double it and some, same goes for time. Again nice find and look forward to seeing what you do with it.
  16. GET IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :icon45::icon45: I want to hear good news tomorrow....you missed a great meet today....next time.
  17. Finished up the installation today and glad to be done. Just take your time and be an art student to get all the small body panels. You can see in the picture but I have some of the material all the way down into the quarter panel and under the tool door lid. Don't mind the white wire I am running in the car, that is to rewire the brake electrical system so I can use the Euro tail lights. See here for how to do that in your 240Z: Next step is finish running the wire and then get the vapor tank up and get some hoses. Once that is done and installed I can finish putting the panels in. I ordered heater core hoses and a few other small things. Now need to order bumpers and finish the brake lines, fuel lines and a get the dash in!
  18. Horn button! I am going to paint those things black.
  19. Progress made today! Got some insulation down on the floors, firewall and driver rear quarter today. i just have to do the passenger rear quarter and the hatch area and I am done. Two pics of what it is looking like in the car: This hopefully will help aid keeping the heat out the car, which was the worst part about my first car...always hot! I think it is looking good and cant wait to be done with it. The rest of all the panels will be installed and then comes the dash!
  20. Yes, but the one you did the Z logo is upside down
  21. Lol, I will put it on tomorrow! I am not moving fast enough.....I REALLY want to drive it.
