  1. I think the red car fell further behind
  2. This is a pic of a friends car, Jim Jackson who is not on this site......tell me what this pic says to you guys! Might just be me who likes it a lot....
  3. Yup that is my fathers shop in The Bronx. Paul, I figured since Joe wasn't around to attend our first meeting....I would step in his place...hahaha...every one knows it as Joe's car. Don't worry, Joe will have the chance to get me back...my car is in his garage, my other motor is in his garage.....my Z life is there! 18 inch wheels from a 08 350z, they do look bigger due to the drop.
  4. The heater core is in nice shape, I got it from David. I also bought a new valve from Nissan. I need to get some hoses and that is all done.
  5. but I was able to put it back before the owner knew it Full tank of gas and clean wheels! Here is a pic of it: As some of you know this is RAGS car and he has been on vacation for the last week.....so I stole it to make it to our clubs first weekly meet. I honestly believe I have more miles driven on this car than Joe does. Lucky to have a good friend So don't tell him about this thread..... PS - Joe it runs much better now
  6. Looks great! Glad I can look at your car and have an idea what mine would have looked like...when will it be home....about another week? Happy for you!!
  7. Dave took some new pics of Mike's Z and I thought I would post a few:
  8. Funny how the little things take up so much time. Anyway today was able to remove the old crank pulley (you need a 3-arm puller to remove it) and installed the UD pulley. A note on that, the stock GM pulley has no key way on it but the UD pulley does...don't worry about it, you can install the UD pull as is. I used the old crank pulley to tap on the new pulley and finally used the bolt to draw it in the rest of the way. I am now cleaning up the heater core box so I can install it before the dash goes back in. I have a new water valve and need to order hoses and paint it. Also thinking of upgrading to the Honda blower motor...any feelings about that? Small updated pic from last night:
  9. You are the man! I can't wait to see vids of the car.....that must have been a rush!
  10. If that is the case, then just let them fix it and say you want it back in a month. As long as you can' tell that one quarter was painted with the roof and bottom of door....I guess the paint will look good. Silver paint with flakes is not an easy color to blend. What the hell do I know....I just got my car painted finally =)
  11. Just put the flares on and I would never be able to tell!
  12. Honest opinion here: Just looked over the 6k quote and I still call BS! I don't even want to see the 9K quote. Yes this shop may do the best work in town and yes it may come out super nice but here is my problem with this repair.....I will leave it up to Dave if he wants to go into details. * Just taking one portion out to the quote: 21.5 hours is being charged to the job to fix the rear quarter panel @ the lowered price rate. 21.5 hours......no way just in the quarter panel! This doesn't even include the frame machine time...that is another item on the list. * Unless you are going to source some of these parts yourself, I wouldn't have them work on the car. Another item on the list is the fab of new rear bumper mounts for $300...you can buy them here for lots less. *Spending almost 7k on work and paint on a car that is not, STOCK or a 240Z or a LOW MILEAGE car doesn't make sense to me especially if only HALF the car is going to be painted. You will have an amazing REAR Z (that's my attempt for a joke) but the front of the car including doors are 10 year old paint.....and if I know you well enough...you won't be happy with that. What do I suggest? Use this shop for the quote and do either or: Have them fix the car but find out how much more would it cost you to paint the entire car and take care of whatever rust that has developed since the last paint job 10 yrs ago....CASH price. or Find another shop that does good work and have the tail section fixed and painted. With the money in hand from the insurance, you can get the car fixed for, lets say 3k and have the rest in your pocket for upgrades - family trip - savings or anything else you may want to do. or Just drive it like that until you figure out how you want to spend the money on the car. Could even fix the the 280z and buy a 240z for the lil man
  13. Dave, Can you scan or forward an email with the break down of the cost of the repair? Would like to see the prices of this shop.
  14. Soon soon. I just want to take it out the box and right on to the motor, of course some pics between that.
  15. I believe the LS2 wires are the way to go. I think they have a 90 degree bend to them and clear the headers.
  16. Thank you.....I am working on a way to get it here to NY. Another great vid from you.....Chris lucky you....lol
  17. I can't see this vid yet because I am at work....so I will go home for lunch and check it. lol
  18. I just plan to trim the tunnel opening forward, not that big of a deal. Will take a pic when I get to that stage.
  19. Finally I have the: Head Gasket! So now I can put the motor together minus intake/exhaust and such. Can't wait to get Paul's head on the block and finally see this thing come together.
  20. Ok, I owe you guys some pics. Car has now been pushed into the corner or Joe's garage but IS being worked on. As of last night, door panels are back on, door seals and quarter windows. Also made a new hole in the firewall to start dealing with the wiring nightmare to follow. Also took the head light units apart to sand blast them and painted them flat black...also blacked out the trim ring which looks great! Joe did me a huge favor and got the wiper motor back in the car (under the cowl). I ordered a few parts from Nissan and waiting for them to come. I am planning on having a hood and hatch painted for now since I really want to drive this thing in a few weeks. CF part are expensive I will change to them down the road. Today I purchased a relay kit for the head lights and marker lights that way I don't burn up my combo switch. Also going to order rear wheel bearings and prep my extra set up 280 stubs to be installed. I want to double check what I did two years ago. I hope to have the car started in lets say a month. Joe laughing at my harness nightmare: But by the end of the night: Top right is the factory harness that has been stripped of unused wires and re-taped. The grommet you see there is a zx harness cut down to size and looks great imo. The hole to the left was made by me to put the LS1 harness through. Tomorrow will finish up that grommet job. Harnesses in the bay: Where she sleeps until started again:
  21. Tom, you have the spare 4 speed I just dropped off last week. If that is no good....what about the 240 in the back is that one an auto?
  22. Happy B-day old man!!! I know you don't have the Z so hopefully you are playing with one of your other hobbies (not urself) and enjoying the weather! :mparty:
