I am going to be looking for a 2 door 510 by the Spring......wanted one before I ever wanted a Z. I hope to have a SR20det swapped in, just as soon as the Z is "done".

Well after making the trip to Daytona (17 hours each way)for the convention, I figured this would be my last parts car that was located in Mercer, Pa. This was about a 6 hour trip each way for this rusty 72 240z. It had been sitting for 20 years inside of a dirt floor garage. She has less than 80k with a what was white int, now a yellowish color and a faded primer job from 1985....I was 1 at that time....lol. Plans for her is like every other parts car...save what I can for myself and scrap the rest out to you and Ebay....Take a look at the last picture....the real reason why I made the trip Hemi @ work again! Yes those are NOS quaters, rocker panels, and front headlight valences! As for the 72, all parts will be for sale...so let me know if you need anything before it hits EvilBay. Story behind this car is.....orginal owner wanted to restore the car in the mid 80's.....lost his job....didn't have enough to finsh what he started....later died mid 90's....son wanted to restore it....then gave up and let it sit for another 8 yrs until I bought it. Nice guy and was glad to see it go....he was gonna have it crushed for scrap metal!!!

I have an entire 82zxt donor with less than 80k! Thinking if I should swap out the entire 5spd or keep it auto....of course my head is tellin me 5spd...time is telling me auto. I have a trailer for this weekend.....so any ideas?!

I am looking for info and found some. Will give this more thought today at work. The 84 Maxima I have right now is automatic with 96k on it. Would make for a nice daily......I want to be able to do this swap for less than $1500!

I had a great time in Daytona and def worth the trip for my first convention. I was glad I was able to meet a few more guys from Hybrid and put name to face to car! So many nice looking Z's and I left there with many more ideas for my car. Can't wait to do it again next yr! I do have to say the road trip was one of the best parts of the entire week.

Well I hit the 2500 mile mark on the swap in less than 2 weeks!! Just returned from Daytona and I am happy to report no problems all the way down --> track day --> back to NY. I had a great time on the track and thinking of how the car performed puts a big smile on my face and was worth every moment within the past 2 years. My Z was one of four LS1 powered Z’s at the convention, so that was a good feeling. On the road trip the Z got 30-33mpg @ 85mph turning 2100rpm. Ran at a cool 180 degrees the entire trip and around 195 during the track event. Brakes held up well and suspension needs to be worked out during the winter. Hope this keeps you guys who are close to keep going with your work and others to get their car ready for the next convention. I really have to thank HBZ and David and Vihn for helping out these past few months. Now it is time to get the car ready for next spring!! More track time!!! =) Pic of my gf and the Z in Daytona

Can you explain more in detail? I want to get a full understanding for myself and anyone else who reads later on. Do you mean my u joints can be out of phase with one another? I had a drive shaft shop make mine.

Here are two pics to help see exactly what i am talking about. Notice first pic shows the driveshaft all the way into the tranny. No 1/2 inch movement there. BAD BAD BAD. Second pic is standing right under the diff looking forward. Does anyone see something wrong, I know hard to tell by pics but maybe someone elses eye can catch something I didn't. Notice the tranny fluid coming out of the tranny? If I wipe that way..around 10-15mins lata a slight drop reappears. Ideas? My DS won't be ready until the morning! Guess I can do some other things just incase my car is ready to go.
