I thought me posting this might be helpful for any doing LS1/Q45 swaps. I might be the first to run into this problem not sure. I had made my own front diff mounts and had the DriveShaft 1 inch too long. I will you guys posted and posting pics later tonight in the other thread.

It happens rpm related to the DS not engine rpm. So me saying 30mph was a mistake on my part. To clear this up for anyone who might read this in the future....I will explain. If the car is in 1st gear and I rev it to 6000 rpms, there is no vibrations. If the car is in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th.... when the rpms reaches around 2500 the vibrations come in. The higher the gear the faster the DS is turning and is not dependent on engine rpm but is on the tranny. Hope this makes sense, anyone can add or correct if they like. Drive shaft or Driveshaft being too long cause the 2 U-joints I have to bind. The U-joints do not function well at all during compression. This compression right now I believe is a combo of my DS being too long and where the nose of my diff sits right now. So it is a very good idea to read up on the drive train angles and how things should look. I hope to get my DS today and get this back together.....wish me luck.

I am planning to hold some of our winter meets @ a go karting place and some other places that come to mind. I know three guys made it out Saturday before it started to rain. I was in the Bronx about to head up when it started pouring out! We might be able to get one more driving meet together for Oct and then from there we will work things out.

Pop N Wood......this is the first time my car has ever been on the road....complete swap of everything. What I did guys as a double check, I pulled the axles andhad only the DS and Diff "working" and still got the vibrations. I pulled the DS and measured...it has to be cut an inch. I also see i can adjust my mounting point of the noise of the diff. I will play with this tomorrow when I get the DS back. I will check the angles if I can borrow lasers from Rags. Yes I do thing the U joints are binding up and I hope I can get this all solved before weds!

Ok this is my last effort for this week to try and get my car down to Daytona. My problem is.......around 30 mph my car starts to vibrate. It only gets worse the faster I go. It is coming from the rear of the car and my setup is a q45 diff with a "solid mount" diff setup, axles from MM with Mas280 CV adapters, MB from AZ and what I think is the problem.....the driveshaft. Yesterday I spent all day going through the mounts, rebolting the entire rear end. I took the wheels off the car while on the lift and the problem remained....the problem is speed sensitive....so this can only mean moving parts in the drive train. I believe the drive shaft is too long. When the drive shaft is unbolted, I have no fwd movement to take it out. So I have to hammer(once) to slide it past the diff to take it out. The shaft has u joint on both ends and was balanced when made. I want to know if the dirve shaft is too long, what will this do to the car if anything? Also I read about the angels and I think I understand them.....so help me!!!! lol 2 beers on @ the convention on me for info that helps

A little over 100 miles on the swap. About at the 50 mile mark, I had the CV bolts work themselves out on the diff side and left me 2 exits away from the shop. I had the car towed and bought new bolts since. This time using Loctite to make sure they do not come out! Getting some vibrations from the rear and hope to have that all squared up this weekend. I just got my 250lb springs from GC to swap out the 200's I have in the rear. While I am there, I will check the strut housing because I am sure I forgot to drop the washers into the housing ang getting movement from the strut itself. Also need to bleed the brakes again and get new tires. The Z should be fine to drive to Fl in just 1 week! This will be a true test of the drivetrain. So far I have been very very happy with it so far and even if I don't take it done, there is always next year. Long weekend coming up.....pics and vids coming soon. PS. I have to install bumpers, airdam, wipers, int.....lol Zya

Vihn coming to NY this weekend with the Cobra Z? I am going to throw the HBZ sticker on my car and also wear a shirt. Look for my z with the plates EVIL Z....not sure what color it will be!!!

I just spoke to someone at Grand Prix and they are looking to open late Nov. I am already trying to pass this on to my boss who is a car guy also. lol I might even join the league, just what I need.....another money pit! Lookn fwd to it!

Great. Hey Mike......I am def bringing the Z out this time unless I break something between now and Saturday. Hopefully Chris will have his Z there also. I know Jason had some set backs and will have it ready for us next spring. Ok all, this Saturday we will meet in the same spot at 11am. Please respond here in the thread if you do plan on coming out. The weather looks fine as of right now and I will update come thursday. I know a few people have to leave early and that is fine. Also, I am thinking of having a wrenching day on my car in the Bronx at my fathers shop. Last push to get the car ready for the trip down to Daytona....any help would be great.
