  1. To be honest your not going to see much power gains from simple bolt ons on a NA VG30E, maybe 10-20WHP at most. Your best bet is investing in Nistune (http://www.nistune.com) and learning how to tune the ECU your self, adjust the timing and Air/Fuels etc. and you could likely see "decent" power gains. Obviously porting the heads and upper/lower intake plenums combined with a new set of cams will provide "decent" power gains as well... Search for Russ84NA on http://www.z31performance.com, he has one of the most powerful NA VG30Es I know of.
  2. You can make 500+WHP on a stock VG30ET bottom end with the right turbo setup/tune.
  3. The VG30 will have more potential and make more power easier given the electronics. But the L28ET is an easier and likely cheaper engine to work on...either way their both good engines. VG30ET+Nistune+upgraded turbo & fuel
  4. The VQ30DET will definetly be an improvement over the VG30DE. For power making purposes though, the VG30DETT > any VQ.
  5. Do you have any sources? I have heard that the 300ZR using the VG30DE used NVCS(VVT) in 1986.
  6. Does any one know if the VG30DET or VG30DE(used in the 300ZR not in Z32) have VVT?
  7. ^^^ Your getting the VG30DET and VG30ET confused. In Japan and Austraila they had the VG30DET in some models, it was based off the VG30DETT.
  8. And thank you for doing all that you have . I refer to your site almost on a daily basis...

  10. Those 7M #'s arnt really impressing me. We have VGs in the same power levels, heck there was a 280Z running a VG30ET with over 800RWHP. Several other Z31 guyz are at the 600+RWHP level. The engine isnt intercooled because it runs VERY nominal boost levels so being non intercooled it allows the engine to spool the turbo instantly with virtually no lag. Both engines can make 500+RWHP on the stock block. The VG and 7M are very similarly matched power potential wise, though the 7M being a heavier and more problem proned motor from my past expieriences.
  11. You said the VG dosnt even compare, thats very ignorant. Stock vs. stock the engines make similar power with the 7M slightly higher due to the higher boost settings. Once modified both are very responsive and can make gobs of power, both are very similar in power potential. And from what I know the VG is more reliable.
  12. From my expierience the 7M is a less reliable engine then the VG, though both can make gobs of power. The MKIII is also very heavy...
  13. For everyones sake will you please try and use proper grammar. The stock T3 is a Garret T3. Read: http://www.redz31.com/turbofaq/turbo.faq.htm
  14. That thread just talks about the forged rods, we already knew that. The pistons are cast.
  15. Get a T25 off an 88-89 Z31. I believe it was Ken from z31.com that made about 450RWHP on the stock NA engine.
  16. no. The stock engine makes 200HP for 84-87s and 205HP for 88-89s, all VG30ETs make 227TQ. 84-87s use the T3 turbo and 88-89s use the T25. www.redz31.com www.az-zbum.com www.z31.com
  17. Thats because Nissan and several other companies sponsored that car. There has never been that much support for a drag car using the VG, Escort is as close as it got and they were running 6.8 or 6.9 as there fastest. need I mention they were using the stock crank.
  18. VQ does not have a forged crank sorry. When I see street VQs making 1000+RWHP then I will believe it. As far as stock blocks go the VG is much stronger.
  19. I would rather have the VG over the VQ or RB...
