  1. What differences are there between the JDM and USDM VH45/41s???
  2. The Z32 transmission is the same between NA and TT, gear ratios are also the same. The later year transmissions had better synchros...
  3. I believe the VG33 Pathfinder/Frontiers used the same transmission, just slightly different ratios. I believe there was another guy in Australia that was using a Z32 gearbox on his SOHC VG as well...let us know if you get it working and what it takes to do so....
  4. Whats the BCU? Sounds good, keep us updated
  5. For the oil pump contact Mitch at EPRacing: http://www.epracing.net/ I know hes building up a big HP VG30ET right now and can tell you what you should do with the oil pump. I believe he may also be making a few modified oil pumps to sell. The Z32 bell housing won't bolt up to a SOHC VG....your best bet is to use the FS5R30A from either a 87-89 300ZX Turbo or a FS5R30A from a VG33 Pathfinder/Frontier... Good luck and keep us updated!
  6. Looking good ....what plans do you have for the engine/suspension/body? Keep us updated!
  7. Very cool...post pics and keep us updated on this
  8. How many lbs do you torque the head down? You may want to try a better quality gasket then felpro....maybe a metal headgasket.
  9. Congrats on the #s.....a tune can make drastic changes to a cars powerband
  10. There appears to be plenty enough interest to me for Nissan V8s to have its own sub forum. The majority of the other V8 section is about Nissan V8s, and as seen in my thread there are several others who would like to see Nissan V8s have their own section as well. The Moderators apparently thought Ford/Chevy inline 6s needed its own sub-forum and there is only 6 TOTAL threads in there.
  11. I just browsed the first two pages in the Other V8 section and the majority of them seem to be about Nissan V8s. Definetly more then I could count on one...or two hands. It may not be a forum for purism, but being a forum about Datsun/Nissan Z cars with engine swaps means many people will be inclined to swap in other Nissan engines. Maybe you should go back through and count how many threads in this section are about VH/VK swaps. Its not about being inconvenient, consolidating all the Nissan V8s into their own sub-forum just seems logical to me....
  12. Shouldnt there be a Nissan V8 sub forum by now? VH & VK swaps are becoming more and more common. Theres two GM V8 sub forums, I figured we'd at least have one section for Nissan V8s. Just a thought...
  13. Nice video...looks like you guys do great work
  14. Well the VR38DETT makes near 500HP in stock trim and can easily see 600+HP with basic bolt ons....but yes I agree that its not a bang for your buck engine.
  15. Personal preference would be in this order... VG>RB>VH>JZ. But if your main concern is making it a lot easier to work on then it would be between the RB/JZ. One thing many people dont consider is dropping in the SOHC VG motor in Z32s....its much easier to work on and a significantly lighter engine. The bottom end is nearly as strong and can still see 450-500HP reliably with out any internal work.
  16. Looks good....build the VG I need to get me another Z31....
  17. Or if you want to have the best of both worlds put a VG30 in it . Strong iron block built for boost with a beefy bottom end like the RB, yet compact with parts much easier and cheaper to obtain like the VQ.
