  1. They don't have turbo forged pistons.
  2. Well guys, thanks for all the coments. I am really taking them to heart. I have thought all day about why I bought the Holset turbo, and big intercooler. I want HP, So I have figured out what I HAVE to do! I am going to buy forged pistons, new main, and rod bearings. DR. Hunt, yes there are some eyebrows at the top of the piston sleve. When I order the pistons do I get the next smallest bore size? Where are some places to get the forged pistons. Everywhere I look up on the web has no information for a L28ET. I have heard that the forged pistons are about $100 each. can I get them any cheaper than that? One more thing, is it safe to drive my car untill the motor is ready to install? I've gotta keep my wife off my trail, of what I'm doing.
  3. OK so I'll order a Clevite 77 tri metals rod, and main bearing set. What kind of rings should I get??
  4. Is O'rilly's a good place to get a bearing set? It says they have Federal-Mogul rod bearing set for $23.99, and the same brand main bearing set $46.99, sealed power chrome piston rings $105.99
  5. $200 was for bearings, and rings I have an old catalog, but the main bearings are$50 rod bearings $30 ring set $60
  6. the motor had about 125,000 miles on it? No I have NEVER rebuilt the bottom end of a motor before. It seems like it is under $200?? out of the victoria british/black dragon catalog. So I will order all the stuff.
  7. did you read that "sticky" at the top of this page, thats where I got all my info. Or just do a search on this site.
  8. I like the looks of the bigger ones, but you should go with one that is all aluminum, not one with plastic end tanks. I had a Sabb one for awhile, worked pretty good at about 10 pounds or so.
  9. Are these bearings reuseable? I would like to concentrate my money on a MSnS system. Should I spend the money for new berings, or will these do fine? My wife is really starting to wonder why I'm not driving the car, so I need to get on the ball.
  10. thats agood thing to do. All I need is a "just in case" wife, and I'm all set!
  11. Hey Chris, I would like to come out and see what you have, and also get some info on putting the motor back together. I tried your # but it didn't work. I'll pm you my #, I'm scarred to put it up here. Its my work # also.
  12. It took me about 8 min, but I got a phone call. It went from 90psi to 130 psi so thats the rings right?
  13. one of the pics was of the turbo block with the bad pistons in it. I'm going to hone out that block, and put the turbo pistons I got off e-bay for $80 in, with new berings.
  14. I could give him some pointers? Point #1- put a helmet on, dumbass!!
  15. well that means you are one step better than me. good luck
  16. I feal your pain. Check your PVC. If its put in backwards, clogged. It will presure your block and cause it to smoke.
  17. Its a brand new head gasket. With a fresh p90 head. Could I of gotton a bad head gasket? Also when I took the n47 head off, and the intake tube from the AFM to the turbo off. I noticed an oily residue from the hose leading upto the valve cover. Like it had been doing this for some time before I tore it down.
  18. :-( ok, I just bought a set of stock turbo pistons off e-bay from a motor that had 88k miles. there goes my MSnS money. :-(
  19. I first noticed that the vent on top of the valve cover is blowing sorta white oily smoke out of it. Now I never noticed it before because when I had the n47 head on, I had a hose from the valve cover going to the intake just after the AFM. Also its building pressure. Isnt air suppose to be sucked in through there? Another bad thing is, I took a compression test, #1 was 150psi, #6 is 90psi. I don't think its a head gasket, I think its blow by from the pistons (thats the bad part) The funny part is, after the Z club meeting this past thursday, I raced, and beat a 300z turbo on the way home( he had stock boost) I'm set at 10 pounds. Here is my plan, tell me if I'm wrong. I have a turbo f54 block that needs a hone job (who dosn't?) Should I get it honed, check the crank, use the turbo rods that are in it. And just get another set of turbo pistons. Keep in mind that I am about out of money, I was just about to buy MSnS, and a fuel rail. But now I need a new(ish) lower end.
  20. Thanks guys. Hey spotfits, good thing you said something about that resistor.....I forgot all about it.
  21. you'r right. Are you going to the Z club meeting thursday?
