Started playing drums in 1978 and still have my first drumset [Tama] from 1979 of course with additions and several Zildjians added throughout the years. Put them away in 2000 with birth of our first child, but the move to a large home in 2002 allowed for their return. You are correct on the strees relief aspect. Of the numerous drummer jokes out there I've always liked this one [sorry bass players] A man goes to an exotic tropical island for a vacation. As the boat nears the island, he notices the constant sound of drumming coming from the island. As he gets off the boat, he asks the first native he sees how long the drumming will go on. The native casts about nervously and says "very bad when the drumming stops." At the end of the day, the drumming is still going and is starting to get on his nerves. So, he asks another native when the drumming will stop. The native looks as if he's just been reminded of something very unpleasant. "Very bad when the drumming stops," he says, and hurries off. After a couple of days with little sleep, our traveller is finally fed up, grabs the nearest native, slams him up against a tree, and shouts "What happens when the drumming stops?!!" "Bass solo."

Lurked starting in early 2000 and join later that year. I do a lot or reading and searching, but very little posting. I acquired Scottie GNZ's rear end parts [yes his R200 3.36:1 CV disc brake parts will see the light of day soon] when he swapped to the Vette parts prior to going to the RX7 so I've seen quite a few come and go. The first troll/flamer to be banned that I remember from 2000-2001 was "Goatman". Positive contributors that I haven't seen in a while are Andy from Michigan who was into boats and IdahoZ who I believe had some good ideas regarding handling and suspension, but also had some very strong opinions regarding engine setback location [so much so he was either banned or frustrated] Seem to have a good bunch of info contributors who I believe wouldn’t be here without the Admin’s keeping the site focused. Thanks Admin’s! Early 1974 260Z; 406 [possibly 415/420]; TH400; 3.36 & 3.90 R-200’s Drag Car with plates. Ready 2008

Yes, the cars are in Washington State, specifically the [rust free] Tri-Cities. Unfortunately based upon value vs. shipping cost most of these parts [engine, trans, fenders, seats] won't pencil out for the HybridZ nation. I appreciate the comments and the part specific interest and some other small stuff can go cross country. However what I'm really after is a list of parts for these cars which are typically in high demand. I don't want to store junk. Based upon your responses it looks like I'll get these two, save one and part the other with little concern for storing Datsun junk.
-
Thanks for the response. Sorry it took so long to say thanks.... but I was helping the State of Nevada pay their light bill for another day or two. Now it looks like the 2+2 will be saved and the 2-seater will be parted out minus clutch and R-200. Other thoughts on what I should save?

I’m considering buying a 280Z package deal [both 77’s] which includes two 99% complete cars. Neither has run for 3+ years but both “ran when parkedâ€. First is a 2+2 with a SBC/Turbo 400, great interior, brand new exhaust for V-8 and decent rims & tires, good body and trim pieces. Second is a stock engine/transmission [5-speed I believe] good body. Intent with the 2+2 is to raid the TH400 [for a drag race 260Z] and grab the tires and wheels and a friend wants the 2-seater for a SBC/Stick Autocross car. He also wants the V-8 specific parts such as motor & trans mounts, driveline and exhaust. The deal works for us if just a few of the extra items have value, but I don’t what to part a car and store it for years only to conclude I’ve stored junk. I’ve been a member for a long time and YES I’ve done my searches but don’t have a good feel for demand for stock parts. Is there a demand for the following parts and what might they be worth? Fuel Injected L28 with all the wiring; 5-speed; Headlight buckets; Tailights; Radiator; Console, Glass. Are their parts of value that, not being a Z-car purest [Chevy man first], I’d toss in the trash without realizing my error? Assuming cost was minimal [shipping +$5] is their a need or demand in the HybridZ community for some of “those little partsâ€? THANK YOU

go to http://www.yakima.org for the Yakima Chamber web site Yaki-Vegas "the Palm Springs of Washington" Hey the do have an NHRA drag strip about five miles from downtown so that's gotta count for something! I live about 80 miles from Yakima in the Tri-Cities or as I called it prior to moving here 16 years ago the Dry-Shities. But opinions change........ Jobs, affordable homes, NOT crowed are qualities most people would consider positive. Within 1 hours drive from Yakima you could be in several National Forests, at numerous lakes or a Ski Resort resort [4,500ft base elevation], lots good wineries. If a person is into hunting, fishing & camping this could be be a good location. Two hours and your in Seattle and three hours your in Portland. The City of Yakima is located in south central Washington State, in an area of rich volcanic soil. Yakima is centrally located 145 miles southeast of Seattle, Washington; 201 miles southwest of Spokane, Washington; and 185 miles northeast of Portland, Oregon. The city is at an elevation of 1,068 feet above sea level, and occupies an area of 24.23 square miles. It is the county seat of Yakima County. Yakima County is the second-largest county in Washington State at 4,296 square miles, or approximately 2.75 million acres. The county has a latitude of 46° 34’ north, and a longitude of 120° 32’ west. Three entities own over 1.7 million of the total acres of Yakima County. The Yakama Nation owns 1,074,174 acres; the U.S. Forest Service, 503,726 acres; and a U.S. military reservation, 165,787 acres. Population, 2005 Yakima County ranks seventh in population in Washington State. Yakima County 229,300 City of Yakima 81,470 Unincorporated 87,070 Climate The Yakima valley’s climate is mild and dry, having the characteristics of both maritime and continental climates modified by the Cascade and Rocky Mountains. The summers are dry and hot, and winters are cool with light snowfall. The maritime influence is strongest in the winter when the prevailing westerlies are stronger and steadier. The modifying influence of the Pacific Ocean is less evident in summer. Summer afternoons are hot, but due to the dry air, there is a rapid fall in temperature after sunset. This results in pleasantly cool evenings with minimums in the 50s (degrees F). The valley lies within the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, so the total amount of precipitation is relatively small. The months of November, December and January each receive about one inch of precipitation, for nearly half the annual total. Late June, July and August are very dry with only half an inch total for the period. A July or August with no measurable rainfall is not uncommon. Snowfall is light with an annual total of 20 to 25 inches. The most snowfall in a 24-hour period was 18.9 inches, the maximum snow depth recorded was 27 inches, both records occurring in November 1996. These cars are made less than 10 miles from my house. I may just have a reason to talk business with this company to find where the Port disctrict I work for can help in their growth. http://www.sscautos.com/ -
Not a realtor but deal with many through work. 5%-6% is typical on homes sales [around here due to hot market some negotiation happens for lower rate] Vacant commercial land can be 5%-10%. I'm sure others will chime in

Help! I Want a new custom license plate for my car

How about "why try" -
Would the air bag have deployed??

I do like the "Helmet" criteria, clean and simple. Beyond the blinkers, plates & lights, pump gas or cage ......for the sake of fun I'll give it a try [think Foxworthy]. If you seated the rings in the waterbox..........you might have a racecar If your pleased that your drag radials no longer have any identifiable tread...... you might have a racecar. If you run your car to 120MPH in the 1/4 but don't really like to cruise at 60MPH for more than a few minutes..........you might have a racecar. If you put more miles on one-quarter at a time than you do making 2 mile trips to friends homes..... you might have a racecar. If a 60-foot concrete pad doesn't effect your cars traction [either good or bad].........you might have a street car. If you car runs the same on 92 as it does on 110 .........you might have a street car. If the tech inspector passes your car but doesn't even look at your cage or test the trunk mounted battery shutoff............you might have a street car. If you car "looks bad" & has NOS but can't pass tech.......you might have a street car.

Tubing Notching Tool presented by Big Daddy on NHRA Today
Peternell posted a topic in Non Tech Board
On NHRA Today about a week ago Big Daddy Don Garlits present a product for identifying notches needs for building a roll cage. Basically the tool surrounds the tube with a series of 3-4 inch long pins that form to the shape of the bars you wish to attach to. Several sizes are available for each tube size. I believe the product was under the name “tubebuddy†or “tubingbuddyâ€, but my web searches have turn up nothing. Anybody see this product demo and/or have a link?? Thanks -
Please don't "think me dumb" for asking but would not reverse rotation cause the drivetrain to also spin backwards yielding anywhere from 2 (powerglide) to 6 (T56) reverse gears and 1 (previously reverse) forward. I've torn apart a 327 Chevy in an old CrisCraft that had reverse rotation complete with a direct drivet gear to the cam. Cam and distrubutor spun normal just the rotating assemble went backwards. Not an issue since it was mated to a Paragon Drive. I'm more curious as why this is of interest. Just to be different (way different) or am I missing the little known key to HP and TQ?

Don't worry gang the GNZ or parts thereof will still live on. About 2.5 years ago I got Scotties complete rearend setup when he converted to the vette parts. Later I also acquired his front brakes when those to were converted to vette parts. I'm a little slow or a lot slow in putting it together (406/TH400/3.36R-200) but it's coming. Haven't been posting much of late, but luring quite often and based upon the volume of comments about the GNZ figured knowing that part of it will still live on could help some of you through your "time of grieving". Scottie thanks again. Larry aka Peternell

1) 67' Chevelle was a six banger now somewhat SS clone but with a 454, TH 400, 4wdb, yadda, yadda; 2) 74' 260Z project car, lots of parts (406 small block waiting to go together) TH 400, R-200 3.36 w/CV's [thanks Scottie] not enough time, right now; 3) 85' GMC Jimmy (full-size) w/mild 400; and Oh yeah the wife's 4) 99' Windstar; ps 67' RS/SS Camaro may soon join the stable.

Found this on the "Mortec" site Not real clear if the block is included, but for your 377 fans it may be worth a look FOR SALE - SBC 377 engine, uses a SBC 400 2-bolt block .030 over with new bearings, gm steel 350 crank 010/010 and a set of "x" rods (350) with L2311 trw aluminum pistons (12.5-1). Combination makes a 377 SBC, went with a bigger motor and don't need this one anymore. $600.00 for all or will possibly separate. Mark, 574-370-0019. live in northern IN, vettman@maplenet.net 2/9/04

For those that e-mailed recently, sorry the 650DP was spoken for long ago. Shock96 the carb I think your talking about is a 660cfm center squirter Holley list #4224 (#4223 is an 850cfm cs), Those carbs are best for dual quad tunnel ram applications. The primary opens about 10% percent then it's 1:1, 50cc pump too.
-
Rocker arm has extra material on either side of the surface that contacts the valve stem. This slight raised surface on the rocker arm keepers the rocker centered over the valve stem.

.030 over 400 Small Block = 406 ci of torque! Find out what was done during the rebuild, (ie installing 5.7" rods to replace the short 5.565" stock 400 rods) If it's a fresh rebuild .030 shouldn't be an issue, but if it needs to be "freshend up" don't assume you have a good canidate to bore out. .030 over is the limit for some 400's while others can go to .040 over and a select few can go to .060 over.

I've got an extra 650 DP (#4777) I'd be willing to sell. $70 soaked & clean or $100 w/a fresh kit. Also have several 780's (#3310) w/down leg boosters and secondary metering blocks? Around $50 bones. Any takers?? E-mail me off line.
