  1. That can work and I've done it before. But, after a couple ride height changes you'll get off on the adjustment and have to do a proper alignment to get things back on track. With a few tools you can do the basic alignment needed (camber and toe) in about 1/2 hour if you've got a level garage floor. But, very few folks actually do that. Most "adjustable" suspensions get set on one position and stay there for life.
  2. + 1 for Magnecore. Custom lengths available and their stuff works.
  3. The issue with filling gap like that is that the weld itself work hardens and gets very brittle. There is almost no parent material in the weld, just filler.
  4. Ack! Replace that rear transverse link brace ASAP. It's junk.
  5. Properly designed progressive springs work well. Every sing car made in the last few years the runs steel coil springs has progressive springs or progressivity build into the suspension. The 350z does it with progressive bump stops. The Eibachs are actually pretty good for a street spring on the S30 and I ran them on my 1971. Tokicos 5020f springs suck big do key balls and that's where the bad rap came from.
  6. The setup is stronger then most folks think. Remember, the front of the a-arms are captured in the subframe/diff crossmember. You can get some pretty nasty wheel hop under acceleration so some reinforcement helps.for drag race style launches. I've pulled sustained 1.25Gs road racing and not had any issues. I did add bracing from the outer end of the transverse link brace as Jon mentioned above.
  7. Springs acting directly on a lower or upper arm or as part of a strut suspension are 100% unsprung weight. The thinking and modeling has changed over the last decade.
  8. Looks like the bracket or brace for the brake pedal/MCs.
  9. Sorry, not possible. A ride height change of more then 1" either way requires an alignment (toe and camber) at a minimum. You will also encounter binding issues with the sway bars, bumpsteer issues with the steering, and you won't be able to run bumpstops if your goal is to run the car on the ground. That will generally destroy Tokicos, KYB, and most other general street shocks. You should pick one style and optimize the suspension for that style. And yes, HybridZ is about function over form and most of us are engineers, fabricators, and other folks who would rather go fast then look good.
  10. Story on Jalopnik. http://jalopnik.com/nissan-gt-r-owner-claims-he-blew-250-000-on-shoddy-tun-504630131
  11. You want a Hellaflush look and that's not something we're interested in here at HybridZ. Probably a few sites like Zdriver, Zcar, etc. are better places for this question.
  12. I think your car looks fine. If you want a good handling S30 don't focus on wheel gap.
  13. Check with Spinwerks before doing any powder coating. The heat required can add another aging to the wheels and can take the temper out. Its probably OK but check with the manufacturer first. I know of a few aluminum wheels cracking after they were powder coated because the temper went from T6 to T0.
  14. The aspect ratio (the "50" in 275/50-15) indicated how tall the sidewall is in relationship to the tire width. That means that tire sidewall height is 50% of its section width. So a 275/50-15 will have an approximate sidewall height of 137.5mm (5.4") while a 275/35-15 will have an approximate sidewall height of 96mm (3.75'). There's you're 1.5" difference (plus another 1/4")
  15. Look at the upper frame horns going from the cowl to the core support. The core support is one end of the box that's the engine compartment and even with STBs the core support adds to the rigidity of the front end of the car.
  16. I've never seen anyone run a 26" tall tire on a S30. Is this a 240Z or a 280Z?
  17. 720s front R180s can be 4.11 or 4.38. Some were rumored to be 3.90 but in 20+ years I've never seen one.
  18. GP Sorensen was a division of Standard Motor Parts. http://www.smpcorp.com/ABOUT%20US-History/Content.aspx
  19. A 200hp ITS 240Z needs at least one 3" (two 3" preferred) ducts to each front wheel for a 30 minute spring race. That's for the stock rotor and caliper. A vented front rotor is happy with one 2.5" duct.
