  1. Enjoy your car, Ellobo! Glad to hear the 'problem' is now fixed! Thanks for keeping us posted, BTW. Davy
  2. I have read about air-ride suspensions and they claim that it does not hurt handling at all(actually improves it) and it gives you a great feeling ride w/o harshness. I have seen the kits for Hondas, but I have never been in a car with the setup, so I can't comment on anything other than what I have read. Davy
  3. Jeromio, You will have the Z running before the cage and other stuff, yes? One ride, and you'll be motivated for life! I won't take my wife on a 'scary' ride in any Z because she will get paranoid that I'm driving a fast car--she worries that I will get creamed by someone else or do something stupid. Hopefully yours is not the same way. Davy
  4. Hang in there, man! Just do your best at whatever you do! Don't give up, otherwise you are licked. keep looking for a job, man, and you will find one. Davy
  5. I bought the tool because I thought it would be a really good idea to have one handy. I have not had then chance to use it, but it looks like it will work just fine, has the instructions with the tool, and was worth the money. After reading the horror stories about the time wasted just getting one pin out, let alone two, the $36 (includes shipping) seemed to be a fair value. Just my $.02. Davy
  6. Good job, Nion! Heh, pretty soon you'll be driving what feels like a completely different car! Power baby! Davy
  7. Hey 82racecar, I hope you can get a job that will give you enough time AND money to do your project car. Money is almost better than time, because then you have all the parts for the swap!! Anyway, I hope you get something you like. What is your seasonal occupation anyway? Construction? Davy
  8. Grumpyvette, I have not heard of anyone doing the swap...yet, but I would think the choice of transmission would be somewhat limited in a Caddy motor. It would make one heck of a drag motor, though, but how much lighter are they in comparison to the Chevy engines? 50 lbs or more? The increase in cubic inches is nice, especially when you can also get a reduction in weight! Davy
  9. I'm impressed with your K-member, how it looks, and how the member bolts up. Very cool I echo your thoughts on the strength aspect of the new member. Also, it should increase overall chassis stiffness just like you said. Nice job! Davy
  10. Look for a post with Mike kZ and you'll find a link to his site. His car I think is listed in the member's rides section and he has raqcing stripes. They look great IMO and don't take way from the car at any angle. Davy
  11. Sunny, you mentioned baking soda blasting above---do you have any idea if the baking soda (I'm assuming the Arm & Hammer type stuff my wife uses in the kitchen) can be used like normal media in a blast cabinet? I would think not, but I'm dreaming here, so humor me. I would love to use something like it for the ease of availability and the enviromental friendliness of the material. Thanks. Davy
  12. Dude, he's got Longchamps! They are purrrrfect for a Z; you may not need any adapters at all! I wonder how much $$$$ they are? Davy
  13. Dan, great score on those seats! man, what a price for great looking ones too It looks like a rollbar may have a bit of difficulty getting past the sides??? Hope not. If you can't use them, I will be more than happy to take them off your hands Davy
  14. D'oh! Don't dis his choice of headlights, guys! I saw a pic a while back of the car 3/4 angle from the front, and I can tell you the WHOLE package fits together very nicely, thank you. I love the idea of small projector headlights since they look modern, yet are round so they have a classic flavor (in a strange way). The whole car is kind of like a preternatural Z. I just love it. Excellent job, Terry! Davy

I dont really want too put much work into it because the car's underbelly has got some serious rust... After dealing with the rust issue, you'll wish you had started with a better car in he first place. quote: The engine needs to be rebuilt and I dont want to be without a car for too long so I cant take it out and leave it on a stand to be rebuilt for too long. So I was thinking I can drop a v8 in it and have some fun with it while I save the L28 for another Z ... maybe sell it...
  16. Jim, you could always search the Eastwood site to see what they have. www.eastwoodcompany.com Davy
  17. Wow, those seem like some pretty darn good prices for those styles of wheels, Owen. Very nice, but still not wide enough IMO. Too bad they apparently don't sell 10" or 12" rims. Pity. Davy
  18. Just to echo some of the comments (because I like to hear myself talk), Galvanize poisoning occurs when your system becomes loaded with the stuff due to improper ventillation. If possible, weld the stuff outdoors, and if the air is stale, use a small fan to blow the smoke past you. FWIW, I like the way the smoke smells, but I never get too close to it!!! Davy
  19. Try "day-glo" yellow, not lime green... Davy
  20. On a 280Z, I would be surprised if the door did not shut (well) after you let it down. Were you using the factory jack in the proper place (there is a proper place to jack the car up BTW)??? It should not have bent the frame or the door in anyway after letting the car down. Give the car a few days of cornering and driving to see if it 'settles' any and improves the gap. Weird. Davy
  21. You may be on your own while undertaking this. A JTR manual will help map out each catagory or phase to go through to complete the swap. Good luck! Davy
  22. I don't think it will work. The pump will be trying to generate high FI pressure and run into the fuel regulator for only what, maybe 7 psi?? It will burn out the pump I would think. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I think JTR showed a Holley (?) pump in the manual--there is a reason they did not go with the factory pumps... Davy
  23. quote: Originally posted by oscar: i am trying to find some hi temp that doesnt need to be cured... If you can find it at a speed shop, try VHT high-temp paint. I personally feel that the ones from Eastwood, et al, that need to be cured are probably the best, besides powdercoating which is the best if you can afford it. Davy
  24. Very clean looking Z. In this case 'yellow' does mean 'fast!' If that is a body kit, why are they not available from regular sources? Seems strange to have to go overseas to get a kit for a car that we have the most of. Pity. Davy
