Thats how I have mine set up and it does collect oil. I use a clear oil compressor air filter and it works great. A question aside...do you run a blow through MAF?

My expereince is piece by piece. I tried to sell a built L31...and couldnt. After 6 months and nothing but low-balls I parted her out and had everything sold within a month...for 50% more than the asking price of the whole thing. You figure!?!

I talked to a good firend of mine at NISSAN Canada who contacted NISSAN Japan. He was told that even though the manufacture of the oil pan was stopped there is a “request for re-manufacture” form that may reverse this decision. NISSAN Canada/Japan provided him this form and he is willing to go to bat for us if there is sufficient interest. No guarantee what decision NISSAN will come back with but there is a chance This may be a limited run(s) and all he needs is an estimate of possible sales.. No promises but there is a chance. Who will sign up? Who wants to get into the RB oil pan business?

you really hit on a point I missed. When you rent one you a driven to get the job done ASAP. When you own it ....you can take your sweet ass time.

I used a cheap chop saw....Its exhaust pipe, for that matter use a hack saw and a hand grinder. It will get hotter when you weld it. I know Im looking at this from a simplistic view....but thats all it takes and its been done that way a million plus times.

I say the RB. I appreciate the arguments below but an L28 build can be pricy as well...I know as I built an L31 before my RB install. I like the RB series because: The build cost isnt that bad...its all a matter of what you want bit it costs have dropped Parts ARE readily available..except the oil pan. It comes with more power right out of the box You can increase the power with a simple boost contoller Its a "modern" engine ...great starting pateform to grow with Gets decent fuel economy Runs smooth with out the burping and farting of a hot L28/L31 Its fits just fine. Go the RB25 Lots of install info right here on Hybridz I have a RB S30....... I know there are a million counterpoints. ie.... Fabrication Wiring Different tuning know how....etc...etc...etc Ultimately you need to make a decision based on your capabilities. Saying that...Im not a natural gearhead and I managed to do it.

Pure antifreeze? Is somebody yanking your chain? What happens if you remove it and run the car for a while. Does it return?

I rented a hoist 3 times before I bought one. I figured that the first 3 rentals would have paid for a hoist so I just bit the bullet. Its Harbor Freight quality ...it does the job for a home car guy but I wouldnt recommend it for a shop. Its not truely a heavy duty unit but it does the job and folds up standing straight when Im done leaving a small foot print. The only thing that I truely see as a fault is the piston, its slow....meaning you gotta pump a lot to get it up. And I would never trust leaving a hanging engine overnight a top my fender. Im sure better units would take fewer strokes! But for $220 Canadian its all I need. Ive used it to take the outboard off the boat....move my engines around the shop ...and remove my RB off the pick up. Im sure there will be outher uses! If you can.... buy it. And buy the best unit you can.

WOW...I cant believe it!!!!. That was my first day ever on a track...over 10 years ago. That morning was wetter than wet and then it dried up and bacame humid and sunny in the afternoon. The conditions were so different that it was like learning to drive all over again. Thanx for posting Scott! Can I get a DVD copy from you?
