I searched and searched and searched endlessly to build a spreadsheet of what to buy before ever taking on this journey from the car to what I wanted in the drivetrain for approximately 2.5 years. One of the few things that I ever paid someone else to do on my car was the exhaust system. Eleven years ago, I bolted on my Dynomax block huggers and drove to the local muffler shop to have an exhaust system built. It was made of crush bent 14 gage aluminized steel and had a pair of Flowmaster mufflers at the back. I was never happy with it. It sounded alright, but the poorly made headers and even more poorly made exhaust were not something I was proud of. I apologize if there are millions of posts about exhaust, but if I could get some real quick opinions that would be great. I am running a built L28ET in my 78 280z and it currently has a straight 3" pipe all the way out. It has become or I have become to old for the noise level. I am looking for opinions on free flow mufflers and if I should get a resonator also. I just want to quiet her down a bit, but I do not want her to sound like a little biotch...Any help would be appreciated. I have a cherrybomb under the driver floorpan and a garbage (like, junk) truck tip on my car right now. I'm about to cut that tip off and put in a Borla xr-1. Wondering if anyone thinks the cherrybomb will adversely affect the sound of the Borla (just sound, I drive it too little and too softly to care that much about performance aspect). I figure there's someone on here, or multiple people, who have the experience to know what I'm about to do and can tell me if I'm going to love it or if I'm gonna dislike it until I decide to replace the rest of the exhaust.
