Is this worth purchasing?

Wow, those are all really nice. The orange one would be the best one to start, it looks like from the pictures. And because they are on the west coast there is probably minimal to no rust on them. Shipping would be a fair amount. Defiantly good bases to start from.

Thanks, I saw those listings, havent seen the white one, so I sent an email. The black one is way too modded but lets see what he says I sent him an email anyway.

Shipping would def be a fair amount especially for a car that isn't running.

PM replied, the orange one is actually in fairly good condition. I wanted to buy the bumpers off of it, but he is not parting it out. I'll help you out as much as I can on this side. I believe he even has extra parts to go with it.

What person selling a Z doesn't have extra parts to go with the car...haha.

I got lots of parts... :(

And how many driving S30s?

Unrelated to that reply of mine, I find it hysterical what really drives the prices of the 240Z up. I got my rust bucket '75 and DROVE IT TO WORK THE SAME DAY, with a L28ET swap DONE, for a whopping $1,100... The rust isn't even BAD, my battery tray is still completely functional/salvageable. It had the typical rust at the bottom of the doors and fenders, and basic little sports here and there. All in all it's a fairly solid chassis, especially compared to some of the clunkers I've seen people pick up.

Moral of the story? Stay away from those damn early S30 cars that all these zcar nuts seem to be obsessed with because they were the "pure" s30. I personally feel the chassis only got BETTER with age and have seen first hand that 90% of that extra piggish weight it gained through the years is fat you can CUT OFF! Somehow these purists missed this fact and instead just want a car they can buy and own which is the "right z car". What a load of bull.

It's 11:43 right now, lets see how long it takes me to find a decent 260Z or 280Z on craigs nearby me...

For some of us to buy those "cheap S30s", we would then spend as much or more changing all of the 280Z parts to 240Z parts. ;)

I know when I was looking for an S30, I didn't limit myself to a 240 only, but definitely preferred one, and found one, running, needing some TLC for $1500 in '08, right on this site. Shipping the car cost me more than what I paid for the car, but to find a solid S30 up here, I would have had to spend more than what I did WITH shipping.

How about this one:

78 280Z Body kit molded on which I do not like, L28det turbo motor, ecu, intercooler tuned by Z sport Automotive in WA.

Question, how would i remove that fender??? It seems they bondo the spoilers to the body. Thats a NO! NO!

Here is what I don't get. I been showing you very nice cars in the 8-10k range and you tell me they are out of your price range but you want to buy a $5500 car - tear off a molded body kit and damage every panel of the car just to repaint it and you dont think that is going to cost you another $2k? Yeah I know that was a long run on sentence but I was trying to get to the point. I am still thinking Z cars are the wrong cars for you or just wait for what you want or increase your budget. Pretty simple.

ohhh come on I wouldn't damage every panel, I would be real careful

I rather spend 5500 now than 10k now and blow a lot of my cash at once on a toy(which would be my 2nd). The molded kit is a trade off, it has what looks to be decent turbo motor swap, very clean interior, pretty rust free. I can live with the ugly wheels and molded body kit and take care of that down the road and make it a fun body work project.

No cars perfect, and if it is your paying a pretty penny which I will not be paying.

I first started my search off looking for a project car, now raised my budget. Won't be raising it anymore so, gotta work within my means.
