BluDestiny
If you look at his youtube vid in his sig ( the canyon one) he has massive spring travel. I think he wants them to be stiffer. Not exactly race conditions, but canyon carving (which can get pretty serious). The tires he has now outgrip his springs most likely. Bigdeezs
yeah..higher, but not sure how high. I use the car primarily on weekends in the canyons and just to go to car meets. I want to get on the track more and will be at Streets of Willow a few weeks. These spring rates were not bad for the 235/45/17 continentals I have but I think it needs to be considerably stiffened up with the amount of grip I'm getting from the 275/40/17 NT01s. I have almost 6" total travel and about 2.5" of compression travel. If you look at his youtube vid in his sig ( the canyon one) he has massive spring travel. I think he wants them to be stiffer. richie2619
I know this is an old thread but I'm new on here. Stock tire on the '78. (Which is what I have) is 195-70-R14 which yields 24.7" tire diameter. I currently have 225-60-R14 (24.6") 255-40-R17s are supposed to be 10.04" wide and 25" dia. I'm looking to keep speedo/odo numbers accurate. I'm also interested to know how you're reattaching outer and inner fender wells. I've never done much body work. If you have any advice to someone who's treading into new territory, I'd surely appreciate it!
Retro Z
I also have 275-40-17's all round. For some reason the ZG flares were way too narrow for me. Tyres stuck out abit front and rear..could be because i have 260z hubs upfront and disc brake rear which pushes wheel out an extra 5mm..or the brand of tyres and wider. Now running Wide ZG's. Had to move flares up an inch, delete my turn signals and modify my airdam. Running sectioned struts with Tokico illuminas and ground control sleeves. RebekahsZ
Unfortunately for the coilover crowd, the offset for the "group buy" 17x9.5 Rotas was selected for non-coilover cars. So a lot of inboard space is wasted. Ditto for the 17x9s. I'm gonna play this summer with 16x8 with 245/45/16 in front (no flares required) and 275/40/17 in back (BAMF flares). Looking for 315/35/17 A6s for autocross. Will have to enter corners easy but should be able to exit harder. Will keep plenty neg camber in front. I run all used tires. Makes me slower but helps with guilt factor.
seattlejester
Oh please post lots of pictures, I've always been curious with the rear flare only look. Skylines run them pretty often, but I don't see too many Z's with that setup.
