Hot Hatch DD...

The Mustang was great but a big car, and not as practical as I really needed. So I started thinking about something with 5 doors, sporty, and then of course fun to drive, but possible fuel efficiency when nnot being a hooligan.

So the search began. I considered the Volvo C30 Type R, The VW GTi, The Mazda Speed3, and the Ford Focus ST. No comparison.... The Focus ST that Ford has put together is pretty amazing. It handles so well, and brakes as good as any track car I have owned. Ergonomics of the interior, the exterior, and I managed 33.4MPG on my overnight demo of the car.

If you get a chance, go drive one!!

Definitely at the top of my list for my next DD purchase. I'm hoping to have it, ordered, built, delivered to a close dealer and picked up by me as soon as I get back to the states in the fall. I was really impressed with it when I test drove one over the summer. Definitely an awesome little car.

I like then alot but not ready to give up my DD-2003 Focus SVT.  Unfortunately it lacks the power of the new ST but...handles nearly neutral, great brakes, looks pretty cool and with only 65,xxx on the odometer will be with me for awhile...

Whomever ordered it check the; cold weather package [engine block heater, heated seats & mirrors as well as traction control], sunroof, HID's and factory in dash 6 disc changer with subwoofer.  Wish they'd have added the rear doors as well!

I went the Chevy route and bought the Turbo Sonic. Very happy with handling and brakes and would love to spend the 500$ on a ECU upgrade for more HP. My budget crashed at 20K and Ford is pretty proud of their cars. I like the looks of the Ford.

My hot hatch DD, is a VW Beetle 2.0 turbo 6spd.  post-36683-0-43998000-1389537341_thumb.jpg lots of fun , good mpg's, roomy , love the heated seats and the fact that it does not have the generic look of most cars on the roads today.

This will come as no surprise, but after an MBRP downpipe, CXracing intercooler kit, including the hard piping, and a COBB Access Port, this car is officially fast. I am so impressed with what a 2.0L with 23psi boost can perform!!!

PLATA-turbo or no turbo, new VWs are for lesbians.  Not that there is anything wrong with that...

That was the New Beetle with the flower vase and the high fish tank roof , the one I have is according to several car magazines to be the MACHO Beetle with the Porsche 911 influence . This one was pencil by guys for guys like me who have the COJONES to drive what some call a chick car. BTW I like to watch lesbian porno.  post-36683-0-56977000-1390266464_thumb.jpg   :icon56:

I drove one back from oregon, those Focus ST's are pretty nifty. Pulling in 5th or 6th gear and having the boost come on is a really great feeling. The little arrow that tells you to shift up or down is pretty entertaining as well. And jesus the power was surprising from a FWD car, I gave it a little getting onto the freeway and was surprised to feel traction control kicking in with modest throttle input, and even further surprised when I shifted up and the tires still didn't feel like hooking up.

I will say the parts that were strange was the cockpit felt really odd, just low visibility or something just felt like I was missing out on some information. The seats were kind of uncomfortable for me, a little to compressing on the thighs. The most annoying thing by far was the electric steering, the minor corrections I made while cruising on the freeway felt like nothing was happening, I felt like I was constantly sawing away at the wheel.

But it was really an interesting car. My friend was actually looking to move up to a mustang from the ST, kind of funny how you went the opposite way.
