NCchris
You might want to check the availability of the Illuminas! Has been a lot of chatter on this board about them not being available and/or on indefinate backorder. chris
Zmanj87
Ya what's the deal with that? I know Tokico had some supplier issue? But Tokico website has pretty much disappeared and it's some Hitachi website.. Ya I'll have to look into it

Phantom
How far are you really wanting to go with your suspension mods? Check out Techno toy Tuning and also go to the Arizona Z Car website to find things to drool over. Then make the tough decision.

Or you can also get on our BC coilover list lol only thing I'm worried about coil overs is with welding them in.. If one of them goes out your kinda Fcked right? Zmanj87
Also only reason I'm going with Tokico is because I've read that theyre the only ones that will handle lowering springs. I've heard terrible things about KYB with lowering springs
yhlz
I'll check it out.. lol only thing I'm worried about coil overs is with welding them in.. If one of them goes out your kinda Fcked right? The only part that you are welding is the threaded collar.
johnc
Tokicos will also fail with lowering springs. You have to install new bump stops with the KYBs and Tokicos to keep from bottoming the shocks internally. Do that a couple times and the foot valve or piston gets damaged. m1ghtymaxXx
I'll check it out.. lol only thing I'm worried about coil overs is with welding them in.. If one of them goes out your kinda Fcked right? Looks like you have some reading to do before making a purchase. All coilover options for the S30 require welding in some regard, not sure what you mean by "if one of them goes out". Bump steer spacers correct control arm angle when lowered, front only, and as mentioned, Tokico is NLA.
Phantom
Welding only required if you also install adjustable top mounts if you want camber adjustment. Coilovers by themselves are bolt in.
Rob L
I would go with techno toy tuning if I were you it's a complete bolt in option comes with koni shocks eibach springs and is pure car porn ....if you want zero welding top there coilover kit with dp camber plates and then just add TTT rear and front LCAs with there gorgeous tension control rods and you will have a complete bolt in sick and gorgeous suspension setup and on top of that you will get probably the best one on one with owner customer service experience ....also throw there bump steer spacers in there ....and your suspension is now TOP NOTCH! NewZed
Looks like you had it pretty close in Post #1. Just replace Tokico Illuminta and Spring Kit with KYB and Eibach lowering springs. You had new urethane bump stops on your list already. Then beware of bumps, either large or hitting at high speed. That's the intermediate cost option. Even cheaper would be to cut your stock springs. The assumption is that you're replacing to get the car lower for street driving, not go racing. m1ghtymaxXx
Welding only required if you also install adjustable top mounts if you want camber adjustment. Coilovers by themselves are bolt in. Well whether it's done upon arrival or by the vendor, all S30 coilovers either require a retaining ring welded to the strut housing, or a strut housing welded to a threaded tube. No regularly attainable coilovers are made with new spindles.
Phantom
I stand corrected. I bought the Techno Toy Tuning suspension kit that Theatriks talked about above. Other than the normal hassles of dealing with a 36 year old car it bolted right in. The "normal hassles" however, added about 2 weeks to the job due to getting incorrect wheel bearings and having to replace other parts that were damaged when the suspicion was disassembled. Visited the TTT website and started drooling over the LCA's and Tension Rods. I'm going to end up with about $4k in my suspension if I don't improve my impulse control. Those TEnsion Rods tho are pretty sick
