AZGhost623
Looking for any Youtube videos that have in cockpit view of an S30 making its way around the ring. The real deal please, no video games. If a stockish AE86 can do it under 9mins, I am curious to see what a stockish S30 could do EDIT**** Had a brief conversation with this guy, he shipped his car from CA to Spain. Then drove it down there to have a track day. He has a whole progress of the trip in multiple segments filmed out. Pretty epic! Thanks! NylonAdmiral
I've looked for similar videos in the past and not found much. You've probably seen this one but it's still a cool video, not a stock S30 but still an in-cockpit view.
RebekahsZ
Funny car-stripped interior but no cage. Custom headliner....recessed firewall but no camber plates... like it just the same and wish it was mine! Must be a bumpy track. EF Ian
Had thoughts about taking mine there, but I'm not sure its worth the risk.
BLOZ UP
You can go as fast or as slow as you want. Just have to watch out for everyone else!
260DET
What happened to that pioneering American spirit. Plenty of furriners go to the US to do what they can (afford) this S30 absence at The Ring is a bit sad. The furriners I know of mostly rent a car there although apparently a few well off euro car enthusiasts from AU do ship their cars to euro land and have a go at The Ring. NylonAdmiral
I've driven it before in both a hire car and my own EP3 Type-R. Once my 240z is finished I'll probably drive it over there at some point. As Bloz Up says, you can go as fast or as slow as you like really and the hardest part of the experience is staying out of the way of other traffic. Plenty of people just want to drive it slowly so they can say they have. I overtook Porsches and R8s which were just sedately driving round but seemed to be enjoying themselves. Other times I'd be doing about 110mph and have other cars coming past me like I was in reverse. If you ever get the chance to drive it though it's definitely worth doing, it's probably the best car event I've done.
AZGhost623
Its on my bucket list to do. Definitely if I win the lottery its happening LOL... If anyone does make it over there, they need to strap a camera on and record it with a timer!
NylonAdmiral
I won't be going for a while still as I'm in the middle of my build but when I do I'll take my GoPro and make a video for sure.
EF Ian
I won't be driving sowly if I go, but I won't be driving past 8/10ths either. More worried about being hit by someone else or being involved through no fault of my own, does happen a lot of you watch the videos. Tony D
There was discussion with someone about shipping a car to Europe for an auto-tour. If you do it from the East Coast, you can ship as low as $1400 round trip RORO. Doing it from SoCal, it's closer to $2200, plus all the logistics you get with importation without duty, various clearances for the use of the vehicle, etc etc. It's actually easier to ship a car to Japan and go touring... or Singapore to Tour the Death Railway in Burma (now that US Citizens can enter legally) and then take a right turn to Shanghai and onwards to Japan...Who wants to make it a two car caravan? And which will it be, Europe or Asia?
texis30O
LOL Tony... Me Me Me... I just have to put power steering and A/C in the car..... It would be a blast to bring the car to Japan and drive it around there a bit!!
socorob
THE pistonheads forum does them over in EUROPE every year. Seems like they set up all the routes, hotels and everything. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/general-pistonheads/pistonheads-tours--viking-2013/27459 If I would win the lottery I would be in. NylonAdmiral
If you go on a Euro trip there's really no need to pay for an organised tour, it's pretty easy to plan it and drive it all yourself. Just look online and there are plenty of well known routes you can take. Either buy a set of European maps for a satnav or just go old sdchool and buy a road atlas. To be honest the only confusing thing you'll come across is trying to navigate through the Belgian ringroad network.@EF Ian, other people crashing is quite a concern, when I last went I saw at least 6 cars get written off!
