This is going to be exciting and fun. Our inaugural showing as a club (albeit a small one for now) will be at the ZCCA convention in June.

Club banner, window decals, and membership cards are in the works.

Van (Two40MuscleZ) has already begun to secure very good discounting from vendors.

SoCal guys you now have a place to call home (club wise)....... Let's make a good run at it!!!

Sounds like a great idea, I may be interested in forming a hybrid chapter here in OK.

There are now 4-5 hybrid Z's in the Tulsa area that I know of, more I am sure, and even more elsewhere in OK.

The first time I went to a OKZCCA Meet last fall, every single guy I talked to told me not to put the V8 in the car, that it would ruin it. So if that is how they feel, so be it. I would rather hang with the Hybrid crowd anyhow.

For those of you interested in starting your own chapters, I suggest you contact other chapter presidents/officers for tips and help as well as certain by-laws we'd like to make uniform across HZ nation, uh, worldwide. These are not strict laws, merely guidelines to follow in order to keep HZ unified and coordinated. Good luck!

I spent 5 years in Oklahoma (Moore/OKC) but didn't notice a bunch of Z's. How many do you have gathered out there?

I'm in for the SoCal chapter, but a question I do have. Do I have to be an Associate member if my car is 'in-progress'?

Associate members are individuals who may not own a Z car but have an interest in them. If you already own one, that satisfys one of the requirements for Active Membership. Being underconstruction is simply a stage of progression. And that is where most of us currently are; at one stage or another. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question.

AH, Bill this is SoCal were talking about. We seem to be one of the more progressive areas for custom car concepts/designs. However, if you take the initative I'm certain that before long the "purists" will duley take note and see things in a whole differnt light. Change is never easily accepted. But that shouldn't stop you from creating and achieveing your own dream. Thats what HZ-SC has started. Just watch, before long they will be everywhere. Then what do you think the purists will say...nothing of any consiquence!

Talk it over with your other Z friends, and keep us advised if we can help.

wonder what stage of the progression I'd be considered to be at......

*progressed beyond the stage of all help or hope* I would think

well, hopefully the meetings will not be on the second thursday of the month (Group Z), the first thursday of the month (Empire Z-Inland Empire Club), second tuesday of the month (ZCC of Inland Valley - Temecula), or the last wednesday of the month (Group Z board Meetings)---If so, count me in!

Especially since Moreno Valley is just across the 215 from where I live (south of Van Buren by the Gless Farms Orange Groves)...

This inagural chapter should be far enough away from the other existing clubs to get a ZCCA Charter, too so you can get the group rate insurance.

Tony,

What is the group rate insurance? I'm interested in knowing more.

And Van, you're right, change is never easily accepted, especially when our HZ-SCC president calls us ricers :D We better tread carefully and keep the neon lites to a minimum, otherwise Tim might boot us out!

there is a group rate insurance for club activities, drives, etc....

ZCCA has an insurance that is offered through a contracted vendor that gives you a decent break on insuracne if you choose to put on an event like a track day, national convention, car show, etc....

Being in CA, insurance is almost a given for any sort of activity.

When ou get with Bonnie at the ZCCA for chartering the club (once you hit ten members) you will get more details.

I know, for instance, that the Self Directed Driving Tour offered on Friday during the National Convention in Long Beach was given the standard liability rider for a flat rate of $125 above and beyond the convention policy. That's cheap insurance should someone get stupid, then try suing any of the club officers (yeah, those who voulnteered---you are the guys liable!) So for the cost of the insurance, it makes good sence to get insurance, rather than someone loosing their house or ride because some idiot decided to live up to his latent stupidity potential.

We just went through this chartering the Emprie Z group that meets over in Ontario, and the club in Temecula. Contact those club Presidents and officers for information on what they went through. Most guys are pretty straight on how they got stuff accomplished. The ZCCA has a "how to start a club" booklet, too. Being the National Convention is in Long Beach this year, that is a good time to talk to club officers from around the country (and the WORLD) to see how they do things, and what pittfalls are out there.

Being I am an "elected" officer in the Empire Z (Sgt at Arms), and a quasi-assistant officer at Group Z (events coordinator as of July...) I can offer limited information, but some of the other guys in the clubs orginization can tell you lots more.

As per Tony D, the ZCCA has a lot to offer a new club just starting up. The whole idea behind the ZCCA was to bring many clubs together, so that they may have a greater influence with Nissan, group insurance, and parts discounts. Not to memtion the $$ Nissan kicks in every year for the Convention.

I'd sugest any new club look closely at the advantages of becoming a ZCCA member club. http://www.zcca.org

BTW, the ZCCA is definitely not for just purists. They welcome all Z enthusiasts!

I'd be suprised if there is any Zclub in Nebraska here.. if there is it's probably on the other end of the state in Lincoln or Omaha..

But the closest of those cities is 400miles east.. :? Well, at least the speed limit is 75 on the freeway.. :-D
