Thinking of selling the 'goose.

Love the car, everything about it is now absolutely perfect!! But, I want something new to build, which means i will need the garage, and I don't think it's fair to the Z to have her sleep outside.

Don't want to send it straight to ebay if someone here is interested.....

I'm in absolutely no hurry to let her go, and will not be letting her go cheap, but she's show quality all the way!!!!

Email if interested....(seriously interested)......I'm not going to post a price....kinda along the lines of "if you have to ask, you can't afford"

This is not a project car, nothing needs to be fixed, or 'short cuts' redone.

The car will be at the ZCCA National Convention in Torrance CA in June (without a for sale sign on it).....tacky!

Tim

Don't get me wrong, I love the Z......I took my time and did it 'right'......5 years +....but then you guys have followed its progress to a certain degree, so you know that......it's just a bit unfair for my family....my kid especially....he has watched me work on this this thing since he was born, and can't even ride with me in it.....(child seat doesn't fit), and my wife finds it a bit too 'racey' and uncomfortable.....it's not the sort of thing we can all just cruise in.....

Well, that probably gives you enough of a clue as to which direction I'm going.....but hell, maybe I just have a bug up my butt, and maybe it will pass, but I 'need' something to keep me busy....I love building stuff.......

Thus, if it doesn't sell, no biggie.....but 5 years of my life has gone into that car......and she needs a home where she will be driven.....she drives sooo nicely.....

And don't forget...She's a TV star (see upcoming episode of "Life in the fast lane - with Steve Natt")

Ah! I know of a certain Buick that is a great family car and a great race car... :D Gets good fuel economy, GREAT power potential without loosing your daily driver qualities, cushy interior, ect.. I'm being serious here. Come on, just check them out and drive one if you haven't already. Black is oh so cool

Mike, I have another car (2 others) a 94 Z28 (LT1 T56), and my 71 Cheyenne 20. It's not a matter of something to drive, it's a matter of having a new ugly duckling to turn into a swan......

ok now you sound gay... lol.

keep the Z.. end of story. i know its perfect and all but maybe you should just add more to it. like super widebody, custom EVERYTHING.. take it to the next level. dont sell it and start with something new. you built that by yourself, if you sell it, its like selling a part of you.

i always wanted to come to cali but if i go because i have to beat some sence into your head i wont be a happy camper.... no sir re bob....

so, you spent 5 years to build the car right, drove it (up and down the street, then into a camaro, then to/from msa) for 2 months, and now you're selling it? I should kick you in the balls.

In fact, I'm gonna do that to 73botiz on sunday since he just sold his sbc Z

If you are going for top dollar I would go for the ebay right myself, its international and its not even the auction sale part of it thats the good part, its the people who email you on the sidelines who want to come by and buy the car, thats a plus as well. When I was sellng my old car I wouldnt let anyone get behind the wheel without a minimum of 2,000 cash in their (my) pocket.

I understand where Tim is coming from. I am building my car and my boys won't be able to ride in it with me. One at a time but they are twins and like to do things together. Plus the wife...well who care s what she thinks but I would really love to cruise with my guys!! I lpan on finishing my car, then looking for something I can build for the family. The boys will be 5 or 6 then and will be able to help me wrench!!! :D

I however WILL NOT sell the Z...unless I got some good coin for it

Tim,

I support your stand on wanting to sell it. To some guys it’s about the build not so much as the drive. I’m kind of like Tim. Although my car is nowhere near the quality of Tims car it’s practically done except for paint and little things here and there. The car begs to be driven but I find little time to do so. I was really pumped after the Branson Zfest and was looking forward to the next meet. But then it sets in, no body around here wants to cruise, if I need to go to the store it’s much easier to drive the truck so forth and so on. Am I going to sell my Z? No, not yet anyway. Am I going to get another “project†? Maybe this fall I don’t know. What I really want right now is a Cobra but should I buy a turn key or a builder, do I want to wrench or not. I’m leaning toward not at this point, not until I get a shop which means a move to another house where I can build one. So I’ll keep my wrench car for now (the Z) and maybe buy a vette (convertible) or a turn key Cobra we’ll see.

Tim I wish you luck on selling it and no I wouldn’t put a price down either because you can’t put a price on such a car except for in your mind. I know what price I’d be willing to pay if I was in the market, a bit north of a complete big block Cobra with all the add on’s…If you guys want to know the price…go fish :D

If you don't have much interest in driving the finished product, have you considered building cars for other people? You could earn some dough that way without having to worry about selling it after you're finished, while still enjoying the creative process.
