I can't bite my lip any longer. Beatiful car, but I'm sorry, the guys on the Corvette board can not refer to it as a Z!

Seriously though, as a comparison, there's a guy in our club who wheel to wheel races his C5 Z06 (touring 1). I just can't get over the performance right out of the box. It's bone stock except for oil and trans coolers and he's setting lap times faster than many other well prepared, purpose built, V8 race cars.

Prieth, Unfortunately the original "Z" was a Corvette... Our little beauties rolled off the assembly line a couple years later...

This car is something else... Can't wait to see one at a track day!

However, try to buy one right now... In my area the Koons of Manassas Chevy dealer has TWO and the price is $101K :toetap05: GM isn't discouraging this practice either! And what's worse is idiots are paying it... :lmao:

Wait about three years and you'll be able to get a low mileage unit for about $45-50K! :2thumbs:

On that dyno chart, if my calculation is correct, it would seem that the new Z06 is suffering from more driveline loss than the previous Z06. That HP figure shows a 14% loss. We've seen bone stock 2004 model Z06s in the 9-10% range... That also could just be a factor of a new motor with fresh rings not totally sealed yet...

After my run-in with a New C6 last Friday, I figured I'd spec one of them out identical to the build sheet my 99C5 came with, to include the power accessories package, memory package, hud display, and every bell and whistle offer except the select ride option, which I'm glad my car did NOT come with... Putting Z06 bits on it wouldn't have been an option with selective ride equipped cars!

Anyway, a brand new C6 equipped like my C5 coupe would run me well over $54K! For comparison's sake, with the huge list of mods and upgrades, I've still got less than $28000 in the car and it will make at the wheels what the C6 is making at the crank, and I'm doing it with better parts! :lmao:

The c6 is a nice car, and the Z06 is truly amazing... But I think I'll keep my old, tired beat up C5! :2thumbs:
