mull
Flare suggestion from my metal handyman Viktor of http://www.darensteel.com They're about 60 mm per side - about 2.5 inches. I'll test fit these and see if I want to go wider or if it'll do. Switching to a Skyline or 240sx/200sx rear end is going to add about 40-50 mm per side. Careless
id like to see them on the car and painted before i make my decision as to whether i like them a lot or not. seems as though they are hard to make or get right, though. i noticed on his website that his BMW hood is a bit uneven. Guest apsilon
Wow, very impressive project. I was just browsing for, well actually I forgot once I found this thread, but basically I'm looking for a 240Z as a project car (think I've found one, I'll know this weekend) and now I certainly have something to aspire to. Downloading the vids now, can't wait for more.

No re-runs here. Haha : ) Stay tuned to see the new panorama sunroof... ; )

mull
Now there is some dedication, cutting the roof of to get some quality welds. I was thinking I'd put some plexiglass in for a roof later. Panorama roof for teh win! More pics of the cage;
mull
At first glance, the R32 GTS cradle/IRS seems alot wider than the 80 mm I've read about (that is, 80 mm compared to the stock 240z). It's not exacly what I'd like to call lightweight but hey, it was free ... And perspective in the picture is a bit misguiding. We'll see what happens. mull
hey mull check out my pictures that cradle i beleive is almost the exact same as the S13 multilink one im putting on. it should give you a little insight as to the mounting. looking good though! I did! You need to update more! By the way, how are you going to align it all to 100%? And yes, the Skyline IRS/cradle bolts right into the S13. Check this out: http://www.are.com.au/Big%20HP/grunter.htm Scroll down to "REAR END" to see pics of the swap. "Complete Skyline R32 GTR assy., cradle & all. These arerenowned as bullet proof & as it bolted straight in. A cheap, quick, & super efficient rear end conversion that is not yet common knowledge. " Fortunately the GTS design is (to the best of my knowledge) the same as the GTR. I've heard that the axles are 1 millimeter thinner than the ones on the GTR - but are still able to cope with 900 hp. Unfortunately the GTS come with 4 lug *uggh* and this fine specimen came with a diff. from an automatic. So it'll be changed for a GTS-T or a GTR diff. Or that from a S13/S14. We'll see =)
dj paul
Ya ive been kinda busy (and lazy) lately. Not a whole lot has gotten done. I have drilled the mounts and cleaned up the subframe. I also cut out the original subframe and made my own bracing. Ill get some better, more detail pictures soon because i have the suspension dropped for drilling. but i did put up 3 new ones that you can see most of it. Careless
Unfortunately the GTS come with 4 lug *uggh* and this fine specimen came with a diff. from an automatic. So it'll be changed for a GTS-T or a GTR diff. Or that from a S13/S14. We'll see =) why not just use the entire S14 setup if possible. They come 5 lug in the later years, like 96 and up, do they not? There is also a thread about this going on. "240sx IRS Swap in my Z" is what i think it's called.
mull
1) why not just use the entire S14 setup if possible. 2) They come 5 lug in the later years, like 96 and up, do they not? 3) There is also a thread about this going on. 4) "240sx IRS Swap in my Z" is what i think it's called. 1) Cause I got this for free and supposedly it's stronger than the S13/14, and so on. 2) I wouldn't know : ) 3) That I do know... 4) ...guessing it's the thread "dj Paul" started on his swap. He's already in this thread : )
RB26powered74zcar
I bought this R32 GT-R Skyline sub frame, but it was just for the R200 CLSD... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110034826586&category=42609 I also have a complete rear sub frame drop from a 94 Z32TT that does have the complete brake hubs, calipers, and rotors on it. I think they are the same as the Skyline....
