FI_JUNKY
ehh, sweet setup; but the guy should really have taken sum welding lessons er sumthin before finishing that project. HAHA
OlderThanMe
I could have made better welds by spitting on the metal...I'm suprised that a Japanese built car that looks so good has such junky welds. Oh well..
greenmonster80
Could this whole thread be moved to the suspension, chasis area?
naviathan
My welding teacher in HS said, "Just because it looks like ♥♥♥♥ doesn't mean it won't hold and if it holds, grinders can do wonders with appearance."
OlderThanMe
that only goes so far...at some point where it looks like pebbles piled where the weld is supposed to be then it is not really a weld... That was probably a MIG welder set up for sheet metal and he tried to weld that 1/8"+ thick rollbar material with it. Even if he god decent welds it would not be good because of a lack of weld penetration... I only have a diploma in welding and joining technology... redruM_0381
Look at all the flux residue... Looks like flux core wire feed to me, or maybe stick... But not a gas mig Flux core make ugly, but good penetrating welds
roninjiro
i agree, with red, ive been in the welding industry for 2years (actual work time) and 2years schooling. and have a degree w/ certifications to back that up. but, that all i have. plus he's got what all of us dont have, and that is "that setup". besides all that, he did a damn good job on that
