jtmny1999
I want to ask the admins if you can enable flash code on threads so we can post you tube videos instead of just links ? Here is how to do it ... http://www.webwizguide.com/bbs/forum_posts.asp?TID=22715

GrommitZ
I can think of no better way to attract spammers, mischief makers, and others that would undermind the quality of this site.

What's the difference? We can post pics already its the same thing.
Guest TeamNissan
Its not really the same thing when you compare bandwith. I'm pretty sure the idea has been mulled over in the past.
Administrators SuperDan Posted March 9, 2007 Administrators Share Posted March 9, 2007 To do this, it appears that it would require that we enable an option to allow HTML code in posts. Thats not gonna happen.
AK-Z
Just links are fine with me. It keep the traffic on here down a little. It takes a couple of seconds for this site to load for me because of all the members on here viewing everything.
jtmny1999
You can create tags for YouTube Videos... HTML code does NOT need to be turned on... You actually use YouTube bandwith not Hybridz........
Administrators SuperDan Posted March 9, 2007 Administrators Share Posted March 9, 2007 Ok. vBulletin does not have a built-in FLASH tag. In order to do that I would have to create a custom tag. The problem is that in order for you to now use this custom tag I would have to enable html in the post body so that it could embed the code into the post. This means that anyone can now post html code into their posts.
jtmny1999
Ok thanks for the info, I was just trying to make things better for people posting videos.
Administrators SuperDan Posted March 10, 2007 Administrators Share Posted March 10, 2007 Ok thanks for the info, I was just trying to make things better for people posting videos. No worries, just too big of a risk to take. But, maybe if alot of members start asking for it over at http://www.vbulletin.com/ they will add a built-in FlASH tag some day. COZY Z COLE
Damn Dan, thanks for posting that link. My head still hurts from reading the tech jargon there. You Tube features are discussed in the thread of the wish list of features for the next major upgrade release of VB. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=216379 LARRY

OHhhh no... not ANOTHER switch over to a newer/diffrent system, with downtime and lost info!! PLEASSSSEEEEE just leave it be!! I'm finaly getting the hang of this place! stony
Ok thanks for the info, I was just trying to make things better for people posting videos. The present way of posting videos thru streetfire or whatever is good for me. I'm guessing most everyone else is on the same boat.
SteelToad
Maybe I'm missing something here, but by wanting to post video's instead of just links, arent you saying: You WILL use your bandwidth to watch my video, instead of giving people the option of clicking a mouse button. Why would you want to do that to people who are here to read the messages ?
big-phil
I'm happy with just the links, HybridZ is THE BEST car site on the web (that I've found:wink: ) I like the way crap is not tolerated! I was slapped on the hand in the very beginning, but looking at things now it was for the better. blah blah blah...i need my coffee

Why would you want to do that to people who are here to read the messages ? Nope, the flash applet and video loads from Youtube's server's, not Hybridz's. Same with pics, unless they are "attachment's" or hosted in the photo albums section, they don't use any of Hybridz's bandwidth.
