David K
Has anyone started getting pop ups like crazy lately when visiting Hybrid Z? I have all the pop up blockers and stuff and i still get them. Its only when visiting THIS site.
Pop N Wood
I'm not having any issue with them. My kids computer recently caught some kind of virus/hijack thing that defied any attempt to remove it. We had to blank the hard drive to get rid of it. It wasn't malicious, just every third or fourth time I would click an IE link it would open a new copy of IE on a sales site.
Hey_Allen
Sounds like you may have gotten a bit of advertising spyware stuck on your machine. No such happenings on this computer. Maybe it's time to take a whack at it with Adaware, or Spybot Search&Destroy? Best of luck!

Maybe it's time to take a whack at it with Adaware, or Spybot Search&Destroy? Best of luck! I wish it was just that, but theres nothing in this PC. Its something on hybridz. I can surf the net all day and nothing happens until i come to hybridz. EDIT: I just went to internet explorer settings and checked out the pop up blocker execptions and Hybridz was the only site i was allowing pop ups from. I allowed pop ups on hybridz a while back because i like the PM notification feature. I disallow pop ups from this site now. Hopefully the admins see that the ads are messin' with peoples experience here. DOUBLE EDIT: Im getting a lot of soft porn crap on the advertisements too. God knows what people are thinking over my shoulder. They probably think im a perv or something looking at a porn forum.
mario_82_ZXT
I regularly check Hybridz at school and some of the older lab computers don't have pop-up blockers and I have yet to get pop-ups from this site. What are you using to scan for adware? Also, it was my understanding that this site uses Google Adsense, which is content sensitive. If the ads contain porn then that's usually a sign of adware/spyware. Mario
David K
I really didnt post so everyone can tell me its my computer, must have adware, etc etc etc. Im very computer savvy and i know and have known how to use one. Lets just get that out of the way. Now lets talk about content related ads. Mario, ive used google ads before on several sites and im fully aware of how they operate. Just like to get that out of the way too. So how about we watch this video NOW!!! Nice ass on that girl, bending over and everything. How about another ad warning people not to click unless they are 18. Doesnt matter what on the other side, people see "over 18" or whatever and automatically think PORN. I mean, what if a librarian or SUPERVISOR at your work walks by and sees that. Do you think they are gonna ask questions? I dont think so. Must be over 18? Librarian: banned from library for life, Boss: must be porn, fire him. How about we watch the Anna Nicole Smith SECRET FILES? Damn, everyone knows she was in Playboy and got around more than a basketball on a halfcourt. Perfect time for a supervisor at work to walk by. I better not click, because im not under 18. Whatever that link has to show, apparently isnt appropriate for me to see! Im pretty close to Whittier. I like black bras too. Damn good looking woman, i think ill click on that so i can find some women in my area to hook up with and have some "intimate" relations with. Afterall, it is "intimate dating", or so it says. OOhhh Jessica Alba steamy videos!

(goldfish)
Sorry, but thinking about it more, I have never had any pop-ups from this site on over 5 different computers. None of them have blockers or the like on them. I don't think this explains the ads.

smoorenc
I've only see the "Want to see something scary, must be over 18" but its not a pop up. Just an AD at the bottom of the page.

JMortensen
I have pop ups allowed in Firefox and I get the PM notifications, but I have never ever seen a pop up ad emanate from here. I have not seen any outright porn ads, but have caught the "must be 18" ads at the top and bottom of the screen. Could be that I didn't see the porn-ish ones because I'm not usually paying attention though.
Warren
You may not be seeing them, but they're there (using MS IE 6.0). I could list a bunch of them that I see every time a page loads, but it wouldn't do any good to do that. I'm looking at one on the bottom of the page that says "Calculate the Exact Name of Your Perfect Lover"...and right next to it, there is one that says "Block Pop-ups with Google"...go figure...irony? I doubt it. Especially since the one at the top of the page says "DO NOT CLICK THIS UNLESS YOUR ARE 18", and the advertiser is Mobularity.com/usLuvCompatibility. Perhaps we're just being too nice with the posts...hahahahah Warren

PSi
Whats in the picture looks more like an add than a pop-up... Ive never had this problem and i dont even run antivirus software as ive never had a virus i couldnt isolate in about 40 seconds.. <-----car/computer nerd... I may be wrong but IE6 was replaced with IE7 for the reason of corruption and over exploitation (meaning they stopped making patches for it that normally come in your Microsoft updates every so often) upgrade to IE7 and do a system update via MS website and you may get better results with HZ.org Not to mention IE7 is much easier on resources and VM than IE6 as its a lot like firefox with tabs therefore only needing to remember one window internally and realizing (reading) html /dhtml /xml every time you switch tabs... Dunno im not trying to knock your "computer savvy" im just trying to help solve your issue... Also how much porn do you actually look at? I hate to say it like that but when someone does a google search on a machine for say "big titty ho's" google logs this and remembers it and this is actually how google ads work not just gathering info with spiders from crawling the site they are on but logging the searches done by the iduvidual machines.... Im not calling you a perv as i love porn, im not sure what else the internet was invented for other than to play games, talk ♥♥♥♥ on car forums and look at porn.... =) -PSi
(goldfish)
I'll vouch for almost all for those ads he pictured. I've seen them on several computers.
Careless
well, google adsense works by measuring how many times your IP address has been on other sites that are using Google adsense, and takes note of their content. So if you guys are seeing those pop ups......... LOL
Administrators BRAAP Posted September 18, 2007 Administrators Share Posted September 18, 2007 well, google adsense works by measuring how many times your IP address has been on other sites that are using Google adsense, and takes note of their content. So if you guys are seeing those pop ups......... LOL … Ah, that makes sense why I only see engine parts ads like KB & JE pistons, Cola and Callies cranks, Hastings rings, AFR heads, Del-west titanium valves, GMPP, NISMO engine parts, etc. And all along I thought I had spy ware.. Jeesh…
Warren
They're still annoying as hell, expecially the animated ones, as I've never been to a porn site, and couldn't care less about half of the crap they're advertising for, but since we can't do anything about them, let's all just get over it and accept it as a fact that they're gonna be there.
