Derek
Does anyone have any experience with the door squeegees from Black Dragon? I would prefer to get them from Too Intense Restoration but I have a 1973 so apparently they're different from the 70-72 versions. They're price on the later ones are a little rich for my blood! Black Dragon has them for 29.95 each. Of course if they're crap then it's not much of a deal. Thanks Derek
Sparky
I bought mine from Black dragon, they are reproductions and they dont fit. The door on the s30 kicks up towards the rear of the door and the SS trim follows this slight curve...well the repros dont have this curve so when you try to fit it...well...it doesnt. You can try to bend the trim, but because of its shape it twists while you bend it. sigh, I have the repros on my desk along with the original trim, My plan is to disassemble the repros removing the soft squeegee and then installing them on my old trim after I re polish them. there are some other problems too...just a little too short, poor quality when compared to original etc etc.
jeffer949
ive done the same thing. i actually got mine bent decently correctly but then when i went to take them off to paint my car they just got all bent to hell. so do your self a favor and just buy the squeegee part and just get some weather strip adhesive and just glue them on. mine have been on that way for a good 4 months and are fine. Derek
Thanks Guys. That's what I was afraid of. I may just bite the bullet and buy the ones from Too Intense Restoration. I think wee need something like a parts supplier wiki. When you buy a part from a supplier you can list your likes and dislikes on the wiki. Just a thought. terrycoxusa
I bought the Black Dragon door trim and the door handles. The handles are fine, the door trim fits like the other posts say, but I think they're OK. The price is right.
Titus_RacerX
I just bought a bunch of seals from their catalog pages 10-11. It LOOKS nice in the bags and I didn't buy any hard items like door chrome. The car is in the dis-assembly process and not ready to refit gaskets, but I don't want to be trying to install a bunch of crap when I'm ready. Did I waste my $$$? What about squeegie rubber from Nissan? TR_X:-)
zcarcrazy
...just buy the squeegee part and just get some weather strip adhesive and just glue them on. Does anyone know where to get "the squeegee part"? I don't know if it's something you could pick up at a local parts store, or if you have to order it from a special place. psdenno
If the rubber squeegee material was available, how difficult might it be to bond it to the metal trim piece? I ask because I haven't taken the door trim off to look at the underside.
Derek
The squeegees are stapled to the moldings so you would have to cut the staples to remove the old squeegee and glue the new one on. Too Intense Restoration http://www.datsunrestore.com/catalog.html Has them for 47.00 for the pair. This is the direction I plan on going. Clifton
I got mine from Too Intense and they also didn't fit. He said the were factory but they are reproductions too. Straight, no curve. I had to bend them to get them to fit and you can tell. I wish I would of just replaced the rubber.
Sparky
Has anybody looked at a JcWhitney catalog or Steele rubber products catalog for a roll of squeegee weatherstriping...seems like there must be a manufacturer of the stuff around somewhere that sells it by the foot... maybe a trim and upholstery shop? EDIT: Think I might have found it: http://www.automobiletrim.com/window-channel.html bottom of the page, Morris/MG part number WS/777 If thats not it try this page at Metrommp.com http://metrommp.com/metrocart/PartListByType.cfm?Type=Window%20Channels%20%26%20Sweepers One more: http://restorationspecialties.com/ there catalog is in PDF form and I have yet to look at it but here it is just in case, somebody might find the link useful in the future.
