that 2 part epoxy need to be warm to mix. there is similar stuff for construction that is impossible to squeeze when it is below 40 degrees. since you probably did that at 5:30 in the morning it is going no where. you could take it inside the house and let it warm up. start mixing it and then go out to the garage to lay the bead when you are ready for it. that would be a better way.

btw, how did you do at the autox at firebird?

I did the epoxy after work. Should have heated it though. Don't know how much it would have helped. It is some thick shiit.

I went a bit harder on the tire compound so I can use them on track days too, I have one next weekend. The Goodyears were even a little soft for a hot autoX day. Even the narrower GY hooked better leaving the start than the wider yoko's. Have to be easy on the throttle and corners for about 1/4 run until they get a little heat and stick fine. It was in the 40's when I ran though. It is hard to compare times as the other two EM cars weren't there. There was a CP Camaro that usually beats me and I was faster than him by almost 2 seconds. The coarse was set up for low HP cars though (Miata's). I couldn't hit full boost once :(. The CSP Miata's did really good. I had a pretty good PAX score considering the coarse (951)

Set up changes. I didn't touch the front. I stiffened up the rear from 375lbs to 500lbs. Toe in was set to 1/8" total. Camber was 1.5*, now 1*. Pressure was 20 psi , now 22 psi. I only got temps on the second run so I may have to change it a little but they were pretty good. Balance seemed to be good too but I was slow on the first run, testing the waters and F'd up my 2nd run pretty good and had to be clean on the third and last run so I couldn't push it too hard. I think it has a slight push but need to run it a little more. It's hard to do more than one change at a time and get it right but overall, even with harder tires it is faster even without pushing it too hard.

My guess is that you don't need the toe in on the rear anymore. Looks very mean on the track.

I'll be interested to hear your report from the track day next week.

I was thinking the same but I didn't check to see what I had stock and was afraid to take a chance on how it would effect the rear sticking. I'll try it before the next autoX, need to add some more caster before then too. I'll post an in car video of next weekend in a separate thread and let you know how it does.

I think the car looks great!

What is the diameter of the 15"X14" tires you are using? I'm thinking these flares might be the ticket for my project.

Justin

Thanks. Rears are 610mm/ 24.15". I haven't actually measured them though. That's the size on the side.

If you ran larger diameter it would tuck up into quite a bit more. They already cover too much of the tire compared to the front.

Well my interest is using a Mickey Thompson 325/50-15. Sidewall width: 13.1", tread width = 11.6", diameter = 28". If I raised the ride height a bit, do you think these flares would work ok?

Rick Bower has the same tire on his YZ equipted car. I just like the look of these flares better...

Good to see some guys can get it done. I'm impressed that some one can finish something. I certainly can't. The car looks mean as hell.

Did you have to trim the lip any on those flairs for tire clearence? Did you do any type of inner fender liner?
