Accurate Injection
Hey Guys: It's official this is the Direction we intend to take for the New Z Project! Need input and Help for sure! SPECS: Engine: will be the Chevy Vortec 4200, running ITB's in a N/A mode to start! Trans: Supra R154 mainly because I have one in the shop, has some bad Syncros, but is buildable. Need input there for sure or someone want to Build it for me. Rear end: is a R200. Let the input begin! Kevin
TravRMK
That would be a sweet motor in a Z. There was some talk about it on here before, but most people tend to think it may be too tall to fit under the stock hood. Have you taken any measurements? With some tweaks you should be able to make some nice power out of it. Can't wait to see how this turns out for you.
CantZme
Very awesome idea...I love this motor and have been waiting for someone to swap this or GM's dohc 3.6l v6. Finally!!! I'm going have to agree that height should be a concern, but good luck. that motor is going to sound great with itb's. cant wait, keep us posted. Accurate Injection
We have not measured it as of yet, some Research on it looks as if the Intake Manifold was one of the biggest issues, so going with ITB's from Jump Street will negate part of that! The largest obstical I see is the X-Member, and Front Sump vs rear sump issue!! Our BMW Project Car has to be completed first, so we are 30 to 45 days from dropping a motor into the chassis for sure, but if any of you guys have these motors in a New Vehicle PLEASE post some Actual Dimensions! Thanks! Kevin
Garrett76Zt
what will you do for a flywheel?
Accurate Injection
Make one! Just one of the advantages of being a Manufacturer! The Aluminum Fly wheel Specialists would probably be interested in it as well............... Fidanza maybe??????????? Kevin
Pete84
That would be awesome to see one in a Z! The things can had be for very cheap too! Once you get it running nicely, can we expect to see a force fed version?

Garrett76Zt
Sounds great, I'd love to see this happen! That motor is capable of making some rediculous power. Make one! Accurate Injection
Yes I agree! The oil pan-xmember will be the biggest issue I'm afraid! Force fed? That will be a natural progression I'm sure we will head with the Project! I have a Good Friend that's been living in China the last 3 years BUILDING EFi software and Hardware for a Company there! He's ready to come home and bring his Technology with him! They currently have 1 ECU that runs 2 seperate Fuel systems! Currently running STRAIGHT Ethanol, and straight Gasoline in each system! The ECU can switch between the 2 different fuels where you can't tell it, and has met the Euro4 Emission drive Cycle tests with the ECU! It's pretty impressive feat! It has some draw backs like lack of Coil Drivers, but is being redesigned to work on V8, sequential Fuel and Spark, so it will be neat to play with! Work on the BMW is Progressing today, so hopefully get it done and out of the way to move Forward! Kevin

wherezmytofu
tell us how it goes. i've been looking for a cool i-6 swap and its a toss up for me right now
Accurate Injection
Hey Guys! I have been trying to get on that inliners board and it is DOWN! Some thing's I have found out: 1. New I4 Canyon Bell Housing is $552.66 not counting and Discount #8904-8229 2. New I4 Flywheel is $247.42 #8906-0406 No discounts. Called local GM Parts desk for those numbers! From what I have seen the 4L60E is the number "1" Piss, moan, and Groan! So that would suggest the i6 Torque is eating those transmissions to me! DAN?????????????????????????? Where ae ya here? Hahaha! Kevin
Garrett76Zt
Kevin, the flywheel from both the 4 and 5 cyl versions of this motor will not work with the LL8 (4.2 liter). The bolt pattern on the crank is different I believe. You will need a manual bellhousing from either of those motors and then it can be mated up to a Toyota R154 5-speed from a MKIII Turbo Supra. The flywheel and related parts are the real holdup IMO.
Accurate Injection
Well from what I can gather, the i5 is not offered in Manual either? Especially the 3.7ltr i5's. The number 1 complaint on the i5 and i6's is transmission problems, and they are all automatic issues too! Here's a comparison of the i4 Manual and i6 Auto crank patterns! They both have 8 bolts, but the i6 looks to have a large machined opening for a pilot bearing to me and the bolt circle looks larger as well?
