Two80z4me
I've seen people paint their intakes with non-high temp paint, so wouldn't it be safe to assume that you can paint your valve cover with a regular style paint? I'm adjusting my valves and thought I would jazz up the engine bay a little bit, but I want to double check that my paint wont melt after I spend all the time painting it. Challenger
What reason is there to not use it? Most paints will have a temperature warning on the can. I think alot of normal spray paints are 200 somethings degrees. Edited June 25, 2010 by Challenger
Two80z4me
about an hour to the nearest store for a 98cent can of hi-temp paint and I have a good can or so left of paint that matches the body of my car and some other paint I want to use on the valve cover. Supra510
I've used whatever paint I've wanted (Krylone etc.) on multiple valve covers and never had an issue.

Administrators BRAAP Posted June 25, 2010 Administrators Share Posted June 25, 2010 In the past, I too have used the cheap-o Krylon, gloss black, that lasted for more than year, looked fine, especially for rattle can.
ModernS30
Works fine. Store brand 96 cent can of black spray paint held up to a 240 degree engine temp and oil being spewed on it on some race car valve covers. You should be 100% fine.
