OldAndyAndTheSea
Looking good Andy. Can't wait to see yours running. You mind telling me where you sourced your exhaust piping? Jegs? I'm looking to do pretty much the exact same set up. MSA down pipe, adapter and 3" back to the muffler. Also, just because I'm too lazy to measure, what length straight pipe did you order? Yeah, I ordered the 3" aluminized from Jegs. I will tell you I purchased WAAAAAAY too much straight pipe. I believe I used only about 4 feet of the straight, the rest was taken up from the 90 degree bends and the subtle bends from the downpipe around the transmission. When I pop out in the garage I'll take a quick measurement and try to remember to edit this post. If I remember correctly, I bought around 10 feet of the 3" and with the rest of my exhaust the total cost was sub 100 dollars for the exhaust, and around 100 for the muffler. Here's a mediocre picture that shows the straight section length, kinda...haha. Hate exhaust shots in my garage. The light is never right. As for updates: So it beings..... Relay board, and 12' of labeled wire. Injector pigtails arrived as well, so now I can make that harness. This is all very time consuming stuff. But once I'm done wiring the engine, the last remaining components can wait until the day I attempt to start the car. so after this is all done, there isn't much left. Exciting!! How I am wiring my LC-1 wideband
OldAndyAndTheSea
Decided on the placement for my relay board, under the driver's side inspection panel. Where my windshield washer reservoir used to be. I am still hoping the relay cable will reach the glove box, as this is where I hope to mount the ecu, and my LC-1 calibration LED and button. I'm willing to settle for the same previous OEM spot if for some reason the length of the cable simply isn't enough. As for the wiring.... Slowly plugging away at it. Enjoying myself. OldAndyAndTheSea
Slowly progressing.Injector harness is about 95% done....Stupid time consuming, but I'll finish it up today.I intend on running the harness on the underside of my fuel rail, so you won't see it. tooquick260
Looks good. Are you going to cover those wires with a sheathing? I used the typical cheap wire cover for my 02 sensor wire and it is mellltttinnnnggggg.....
OldAndyAndTheSea
Thanks. Haha, Have you wrapped your downpipe yet? That will probably help a bit, if you haven't. In regards to the car,I'm leaving the wires uncovered/loomed until I start the motor the first time. Once I confirm I did the wiring correctly, I will cover them, in either some sort of plastic loom, or maybe wrapping them. Not sure yet.....Once again, I'm mulling over the issue, with great scrutiny. But there is something to be said for exposed, easy to read wires. Where you can visually trace wiring in a flash had you needed to. So, at this time, I am thinking whatever I cover the wires in, it must be easily removable. So I think those looms are probably my best bet.or at least that's the thought process this particular minute. OldAndyAndTheSea
I'm starting to get excited.I worked for a couple hours this morning. And I'm about to head out now to work some more, but I'm like 75% DONE will all the wiring. Here's the first rough mock up of the placement of the board, and the route my new FI harness will take. It will be hidden under the lip of the fender. Here are a couple pictures....It's finally starting to look organized. Err...well better than before, I guess. OldAndyAndTheSea
Haha, I'm working on it.Definitely this month. Money is on it's way, soon....Okay, as of this morning, before I left for work, I had just about finished the engine wiring.I need one 1/4w 1k ohm resistor, and then I'm done. The rest of the remaining parts are either bolt on, or plug in. (4 pieces remain to be bought, plus some engine oil)Awesome! Here are some more shots of the progress to date, and the finished relay board (sans 2x 5 amp fuses) Wideband: took all of 30 seconds to cut down a hurricane tie, and made a BS bracket to hide in my glove box for calibrating my LC-1 Thought it was neat. Remember, the pictures are pre wrap, and pre tuck.Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out.
tooquick260
Great job. Wiring is something that starts out like a rats nest and with proper planning and thought can be nice and neat. Hate the oversight of one more thing that messes up all the planning though. Fire and smoke soon!! Do you have a base tune to start with? or are you just putting in something to get started? OldAndyAndTheSea
The wiring wasn't too bad. The relay board REALLY simplifies things. The hard part is taking the time to choose the best route...But once I started running wires, the harness kind of built itself. As far as base tunes go, I don't have one yet. Most likely I will try a similar tune to the one on DIYautotune, to get the car started. Then work from there. But that's all wishful thinking at this point. My next big goal is to test the system with the stimulator board (that I have yet to order). Man it would be pretty cool if this thing fired up. But I haven't even wrapped my head around that, at this point.
tooquick260
I have not wrapped my turbo or down pipe. I have all the material. Enjoying driving it and chasing wiring issues. True about the wires be open to look at!!
OldAndyAndTheSea
I OFFICIALLY finished wiring my motor. Wired my 1/4w 1k ohm resistor today. Between the white shielded wire, and the switched 12v from my distributor. I won't know if I did it right until I buy my next (and last) string of parts. All of the hard work is done. I'm having a beer.....or three.Cheers.

OldAndyAndTheSea
Okay, well it is as I suspected....More counterfeits on the market than not. This is why I wanted to deal with GReddy direct. So I received my FAKE as **** used FReddy blow off valve today. Luckily I didn't pay much...hahaSo, I have decided that I'm going to be buying the FV straight from GReddy. They come out tomorrow..But, I get my ECU and stuff tomorrow, so I can at least attempt to start the motor (hopefully) with the knock off installed in the meantime.Notice the 5/16" adel clamp that the vacuum hose runs through. A small touch, but I like it. Then I'll swap to the FV when it comes within the next week or so...Hopefully it doesn't blow up my motor, in the meantime
OldAndyAndTheSea
Okay, apologies for not updating in a little bit.I'm now teaching sailing, and racing sailboats full time, so my schedule is a bit more busy. So garage time has suffered....But on a positive note, LOTS of new goodies will be in my immediate future. That said, I HAVE been working on the car. Slowly learning MegaSquirt, and TunerStudio.I've now successfully connected the laptop to the car, and calibrated my TPS and got to see what my initial intake air temp and my coolant temp gauges. Pretty nifty! Also, I am confident I have a base tune figured out in order to make the car run.Next step will be to make sure my ignition and timing are correct. Then I'll turn the key, and hope for the best.I've got fuel, and air, now I've got to verify spark. OldAndyAndTheSea
Another small update:Today I'm out in the garage troubleshooting EMI/RFI problems within my harness...which I might add....a super fun time... so while I slowly get the car ready to start, the wheels of progress are still turning in other areas. And thanks to some money in the bank, I'll be ordering the following in the next 2 weeks...New wheels: Rota RBR 17x9 -13 offset (front) and 17x9.5 -19 offset (rear)New tires: Yokohama S-Drive 245-40-17 (front) and 275-40-17 (rear)I'm also trying to sell the outboard motor off of my Lyman to fund coilovers, a rear brake upgrade, and possibly rear end stuff. But most likely the first two.No pictures of car stuff but I'll leave you with my front yard.. Summer is wonderful

OldAndyAndTheSea
Ugh....well progress has been slow. Lots of steps forward, followed immediately by that exact amount of steps back... Anywho....since I've switched gears from working/sailing full time, I am now accumulating parts for the car. First set of new goodies arrived.Wheels are ordered, but not expected for 6 weeks... Since I am waiting for the Hyper blackTires arrived today. My birthday is tomorrow, and one kind soul decided to purchase black intercooler couplers for me, so those are in the mail! Stoked.Spent the last week, finally not working/racing full time, fixing leaks in my thermostat housing. I finally think that I sorted that out.Next is to track down which of my injectors is leaking, and wait for my replacements. Then back to configuring megasquirt. I know.....slow progress is slow.....You know how it is, life and stuff. Hopefully I can make some more progress before I go to school in Rhode Island come September. Here's a couple of shotty pictures, teasing the new sneakers.Yokohama S-Drives275/40r/17 in the rear245/40r/17 in the frontDefinitely the poke I was looking for. My wheels cant come quick enough. And hopefully I can sell my outboard, so I can throw some coilovers behind the new wheel tire combo.
