I always like seeing your updates on this. It's such a unique project. Please keep posting them.

Ah, I didn't realize they had built-in cable location options on the throttle body. That's convenient. I'm glad it worked out for you.

cleaned radiator cores and straightened all the fins. when installing drive mandrel with thin protecting cardboard theres 0mm space to slide it to its place

Idle increase while hot is the same issue most of us ITB guys are dealing with, I hope a heat shield fixes it.

I'm not a fan of the bolt-in s30 Autopower roll bar or cages overall but they have their place and purpose. Today got busy but I managed to squeeze an hour in check the final fit of the roll bar and prime the floor in, which gives an idea of what things may look like painted. I'm planning to run full interior and custom carpet so it'll all be hidden anyways. The bodyshop also let me know the rotisserie is ready for my chassis. There are probably a dozen other things I could do on this but I'll leave it to the shop as they're going to paint the entire underside, inside and outside.

Reducing vacuum line size seems to have helped the MAP reading. Looks like I might even get 60kpa at idle too! First drive was interesting for sure. Almost stalled pulling out in traffic and rich and lean mixtures all over the table-lol. The autotune was trying to correct but some of my settings were off. I didnt stay out long because it was Little 5 in Bloomington and too many crazy kids out . Monday when everyone is at work Ill do some more tuning, Idle seemed to increase as the engine got hotter. No heat shield yet so that is an issue

love the custom work. I installed an AutoPower race 4 point rollbar, and later had to cut out the straight across bar down low. I just HAD to recline the seat!! On the diagonal bar I put a piece of rollbar foam on to rest my head. I made it work.

Yet another LS 260z swap :)

it should, however some guys think out of the box and do their own work. -

First time I see frame rails added to the inside. Full lenght rails under the floor would have not been enough? -
Yeah the geometry of the s30 is just difficult. I am also tall and every s30 with an off the shelf roll bar or cage (autopower 4 and 6 points come to mind) has put the main hoop at my head or had some combination of factors making the seating position awkward. I would definitely go custom. Last night I was able to mostly stitch weld everything in. Not my best work but I was getting good penetration so I'm confident it's strong. Every weld was done crazily out of position with the foot pedal on the floorboards or contorted sideways with with a leg out the door 😂. I'm really hoping I can wrap this today as I need to move back to welding in the engine bay.

04-26-2025. Well, I was able to fix a few little things on the Z today, getting it more and more cleaned up. I ended up putting a stainless clamp around the turbo to manifold hose, as it was getting sucked in pretty bad from the pressures, this keeps it from doing that to a great extent. I let it idle and revved it a bit and I could see a real improvement. I developed a front tire rub again, which is weird as it was entirely done and good a long while ago, but it is what it is, so I was able to get that done, changed out the timing belt for a much better one, and ran the wiring from the shifter, through the boot and under the console down to the point where the connections are for the Water-Methanol injection.. It will be on a push button shift knob I ordered. The boost switch just wasn't working like I wanted. I want more control over it. I drilled a small hole at the top of my dash insert and installed a small amber light which when wired in, will let me know when the water/meth is on. I also took 2 video's, once of the finished engine idling, and a walk around. So 2 pics and 2 videos. Cheers! Videos (2) click below (14) Facebook

Thanks! Looks like they did a really good job of getting it tucked in there. I'm tall, so I've just been assuming I'll have to go custom to get something that isn't within reach of my head.

@calZ here's some pics and rough measurements. I believe the roll bar is designed to fit around most the interior of the car, with some areas such as the interior quarter panel pieces requiring trimming around the bracketry. Also, to my understanding there were only a few of these roll bars produced and I'm not sure if or when more will be made. A quick mid-weekend update: I finished fabricating the rear deck plates by welding in captive nuts, weld through primer on all surfaces, then tacked the rear plates in. With the main hoop torqued in the plates are in perfect alignment for the fasteners to thread by finger. To be honest it was a huge pita timesink to straighten the floors where possible for tig prep, but I'm glad that's all done. A friend mentioned that in-period the plates would've probably been mig welded in, perhaps poorly with mig wire sticking out so sanitary tig dimes are probably going to look out of place 😂. Now I just need a couple of hours to take my time and stitch weld the plates then finish with some self etching primer.

Thanks, calZ. I switched my throttle cable at the TB from the very top position to the bottom one. I also tried the middle one (not much success there). The car feels normal again.

The larger throttle body will definitely make things more sensitive since 75mm is larger than the engine really needs. You have 2.25 the area of the original TB, so you've basically moved all of the previous area change into the first 40% of your pedal travel. You could tune the opening speed by changing the cam on the throttle body, but you'd have to do some work to figure out options that match throttle shaft diameter and what their radius curves look like. You could just go completely custom and get the exact curve you want, but that comes with added work and expense.

The rollbar looks great. Would you mind taking a picture from below to show how close it is to the roof structure?

Fast Floridian's 240Z Track Build
FastFloridian replied to FastFloridian's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Wow, good catch, I was in the weeds just typing data and didn’t notice. I was thinking of 6,000 rpm’s and thats what the calcs were based on. Not 100% on tires yet, but thinking 19s based on clearing brakes and tire selection, but 18s are possible but smallest I can go. Calcs on speeds were based on 19s 26.67” tire height
