  1. Ah, sounds like a good idea, but I already installed the seals.....any solvent I can use to remove that glue residue left behind???
  2. Hey did a search on headlight covers and I know the fitment on these things are iffy at best. Anyways there was a post on here, cant find it now, of a guy who bought a diferent kinda of weatherstripping to use on his headlight cover seals. I am assuming it was a thicker seal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. hey, i have an 81 zxt parts car im gonna be tearing apart soon. What exactly do you need?
  4. Actually Racer, I read a post of yours about single stage and I beleive you said that if the single stage had pearl in it then putting clear in the final coat was a good idea. Correct me if I am wrong? This thing is just gonna be a daily until June, then it will probally only get drove 2 or 3 times a month when I go to college. Theres not much trash in the paint, and the orange peel really isnt that bad, like I said its not a show car.
  5. I really like those RX7 lights
  6. Hey Evil, my cousin recently traveled to HK and loved it. Most of the people there can speak English and there are lots of American franchises there, espicially food. And you said it your self, "once in a lifetime oppurtunity." I would put some wheels on your car if possible and place it in a nice storage faciilty if you are worried about it being at your house, Anyways out of curiosity what line of work are you in?
  7. Well single stage was not my first choice. I wanted base/clear but finding someone to actually work on this thing was hard, and even harder was finding someone who could do it for a descent price. So when the painter said he dosent like working with base/clear I went with single stage. It is the PPG Concept line, supposedly very good stuff as far as single stage goes. There isnt much trash in the paint really, just a little orange peel on the hood, but dont you think a good wax/buff later on might take some trash out? I wont dare say anything to the painter he only charged me $1500, we are friends though
  8. Ed it is single stage, with extra clear mixed in the last coat...will wet sanding work to remove trash or what do you recommend???, i mean this is no show car but i would like it to be nice
  9. Can anyone verify this? The 260 the doors would be coming off is an early one with the small bumpers, my 280 is a 76. When I say can they be swapped, I mean bolt on with no mod to the latching mechanism and door strikers etc etc
  10. Thanks guys, Ed you crack me up, and as for the doors, they could look alot better, right now I am trying to hunt down some doors for it as the painter said he would do them for free. Hey Ed what is the best method for removing dust from a newly painted car? I know im not supposed to wash it or put any chemicals on it for awhile until it cures good. Oh I dont know if you can see but there is alittle orange peel on the hood, no biggie i guess
  11. OK, i did a search with "doors" and found tons of posts about how the 240 to 280 Z door swap dosent work without alot of modification. But I did not find any info regarding an early 260 door going on a 76 280z. Any help would be great, the reason I am asking is my painter said if I could find some descent doors he would paint them for free, as mine turned out not so good.
  12. print the exam info, then burn the laptop
  13. No highjacking feelings at all! What model Lambo is that?
  14. Thanks guys, the painter actually suggested the color, its PPG Concept line, Viper Blue. I just cant belived this thing is painted, it sat for 8 years after my uncle just kind of abandoned it, then he gave it to me and the project started. Its my 2nd Z, but this weekend me and 240Hoke are going to start the l28et swap. Thanks for the positive remarks guys!

  17. Hey guys, almost a year after this project started, I finally have got it painted. After some major holdbacks like the original painter jackin me for $1000 dollars, the paint is done! The man that did the work probally has atleast 300 hours in working on this thing because it was rough as a cob. I probally could have pulled one out of a junkyard and faired better. Anyways there is only one small run in the paint, on the lower lip of the front air dam, and the doors look kinda wavy depending on what angle you are at. I uploaded some pics in my album and you can see alot of the before shots here http://community.webshots.com/album/274992883GgHXVs
  18. I have heard horror stories of POR15 clogging guns, that stuff sets up hard as hell, and read the can WEAR GLOVES, trust me, My hands were black for a week, no fun going to school like that. You would be safe to brush it on if you wanted to, it goes on easy and spreads well, plus it dries hard and you dont see the brush marks.
  19. You actually should have a picture of the new pope in his Hitler Youth outfit,
  20. I think his occupation on his profile says "stunner"
  21. Hmmm, I bet that probally is the same car, maybe you can ask him if he ever had his car featuuuuuured in Excellence? I remember that 914 has a 996 motor in it.
  22. I remember there was a 914-6 in the Excellence magazine, it was blue, not the same car is it? Anyways it was very nice.
  23. Dont know if there are any NASCAR fans here, but does anyone remember when Rusty Wallace paid a fine, thousands and thousand of dollars, dont remember the number, in pennies!?!? It was delivered in armor cars full of bags of pennies, im not sure if they took it or not...
