  1. thanks, i kind of like that color, i might try it on my other cars spare door.
  2. you dirty bastard! why does yours have to be so much nicer than mine! lol
  3. anyone happen to find that color in a paint you could roll on like he was talking about?
  4. i wonder if i could achieve this with a roller? lol its worth a try. im either thinking this color, or a deep gloss black. what do you all think?
  5. hello, yes you can swap it into your z. it takes a good amount of cutting and bracing and the rear steering your talking about does need to be locked. it is a special bar that you get that eliminates it but im not sure where you can get it. i believe s13 subframe is same as r32 so do a search for 240sx subframe. i believe the rear mounting points mount 2.5 inches behind the original bar that holds up your mustache bar. (not the same width as your old mustache mounts its like 45 inches apart or something) so you have to weld a strong bar between the rear subframe to get it mounted correctly. then the boxes need to be cut out (you know, the little ones in your trunk?) so the forward link can have clearance and the front portion of the subframe, mounts into the front part of the original subframe. you need to cut the front leg of the forward original subframe and weld in a sleeve so this area can be tightened without smashing the original subframe. definately needs to be braced so area does not flex wehn doing all this cutting and welding. (what im working on right now ill keep u updated) Maichor did this and has a few pics but some arent showing up anymore. just measure a lot and you should be ok. im doing this right now so i will post up pics when i can, and if possible try and help you. i got a S13 subframe with CLSD from japan. good luck! paul
  6. if you have the materials and resources to do it. i say go for it! im all for original. im going to try the roller method personally but thats just because i dont want to spray. it looks like this stuff would be a great alternative to wheel well undercoating for show cars or people who want to show off their brakes or something because it looks good and its so durable.
  7. im definately going to try this! this looks great. just dont try and hurry it, it looks like prepwork is still the biggest thing. i would say that you at least should clean your area and tape it off with plastic like he mentioned.
  8. alright, i know a diffuser helps with the aerodynamics but can someone explain to me exactly how? does it just smooth the air going under the car so it is less turbulent? and also does it help cool the diff?
  9. you are damn lucky that you dont have to cut out a bunch of rusty crap. i am envious =). someone is paying for you to work on a non rusty z. i work on a rusty one for fun! that would be awesome to get payed for it!
  10. thanks man, keep us updated. this would be a great thing for us. not only the "cool" factor of having a 6 speed, but better gas mileage and if the gearing is right, 5 gears to throw around on the track instead of just four. (?dont think you would ever need 6th on track?)
  11. i enjoy that one, ive seen it before but i still read it again just cuz i like it. =)
  12. i wasnt thinking the rear xbrace did much either, i was just using what ive seen in a few track cars. so cross that out, lol. when i actually have time, if anyone is interested, i will actually take measurements and draw a design out. i created those pics in under 5 minutes to give a general idea and i know some of the placement/angles are wrong. hopefully it still helped some people though.
  13. well if the S15 had a 6speed. im sure it could be modified to fit our cars. anyone know how much different it would be from the ka bellhousing? because if im not mistaken. normal 240sx trannys bolt right up.
  14. i dont think its that bad of a design. i just dont think it would be worth it on our cars. for the price and work. it might be worth it, but i think i just have some bias against how fruity i think the mustang II is. =) and couldnt live with any of its parts coming in contact with my soon-to-be beautiful z. lol
  15. hahah little extreme, but good looking design. those bars close to the rear towers are welded to it correct? i can also see you used the corect method of attaching it to the floor with the plates. could i see a picture of the front of the inside of your car?
  16. gnosez are you the baddogparts dude? if so, thanks again! ill get some finished pics to you when i can so you can post em on your site. bjhines here is another quick drawing (in between classes) of a generalized cage that would need some anglework in my stress analysis programs. overall design is good IMO just a little more thought needs to go in to some of the parts. red is an optional side gaurd strengthening bar, if its a street car you wouldnt want this because it would be a PITA to get in and out. again, some of the angles are off, like the front frame rails (rails are inside wheel bulges not outside) but you get the general idea of it. hope it helps with a design of your own.
  17. like i said tho, i would check out durability with the flying rock stuff. maybe put some extra coats in the wheel wells or something....
  18. cool man, dont have a liscence right now. i kind of had to "surrender it to the state of kentucky" i will swing by when the next opportunity arises. i get my license back on the 9th. if you want, you can see my car. i have a 71 240z thats being restored and i am currently in process of putting s13 rear subframe and r200 clutch type lsd in it. my cell is 502-472-0560
  19. it should be ok, look into it and see if it can take stuff hitting it. what im doing, since herculiner is so heavy im just putting it in the wheel wells and front of the floor boards, i havent decided totally, but i might only put it in the back of the wheel wells since the rocks fly up there the most. by the way, your site is cool Shiz
  20. nooo way man, my neighbor fabbed me up some rails outta some 16 gauge steel and made the suspension mounting brackets out of 14 gauge, i will show you the design of them, they are waaay stronger than stock. ill put some more pictures up of the newer stuff, i havent updated in a few weeks, a lot more is done now. i also put baddogparts' sway bar strengthening plate on there. this is all tied together into the floor rails with not only replacement pans and rails, but baddogparts' rails as well. right now, im waiting for my neighbor to fab up the other suspension mounting point so im working on putting in my 240sx rear subframe (my original one was shot anyways) ill keep you updated man. stay in touch =) paul
  21. zxr kid wassup, sorry to take the thread but where are you in louisville? ive seen you on 502streetscene before
  22. good work man, your the only person ive seen thats crazy enough to go through with as rusty a z as i have. We share the same rust spots in each and every place but i have some more! =) its great to see that just because its hard, and a pain to do, love of these cars prevails. good luck on your project and if you need ne tips or advice ask me because my rust repair adventures are 70% complete. my floors were nonexistent, rails in engine bay= nonexistant, doglegs=gone, wheel wells=gone, rear subframe=rusted through, panels under doors= gone, rear area=rusted through. lol see where this is headed? anyways man great work and keep it up!
