  1. I sold a set of Enkei's and just wrapped them in some flat cardboard I got from my shop. You could go by a wheel shop and get some of their old boxes that they had wheels in that were sold, and tape the tires together. You would have to dis-mount them this way, but it would protect the rims better. Mike D
  2. I just bought an early 74 260z for a good price. Fortunatly it is all stock because when I went to the DMV I was told it had to be smogged. I also read a post that someone said 74 models are exempt. Maybe next year. Mike D.
  3. Check the drivetrain section, I left a post there on my Phantom Grip. The unit is actually heat treated steel, not aluminum. Mike D.
  4. Mine is working great after I modified it. My 355 is putting out over 400 H.P. and there was some erratic traction at times. What I did to my unit was to counterbore the spring pockets deeper and install heavier springs, and it has been working great so far. If I had a choice, I would go with a factory LSD, but I got a good deal on my Phantom Grip from a member here and now it is performing great. Mike D.
  5. I have 8 Auto-meter Ultra Lite gauges installed in my Z. I deleted the heater panel and fabricated a new one out of stainless steel. If I can't download the drawing,I can e-mail you some pics if you want, and the drawing of the panel. I C.N.C machined my panel, but it could be made easily with hole saws. Mike D.
  6. I just bought inner and outer rear bearings when I upgraded to 280Z axle shafts. Mine came from a local bearing supplier in my area. I wil look the numbers up tomorrow when I get back to the shop and post them for your info. Mike D.
  7. Here is a pic of one that I make for Hybridz member Alsil. Al did a lot of measuring and fitting to install a 5.0 in the optimum position. If you are interested in one, you can contact Alsil or me. Mike D.http://groups.msn.com/73BOTIZ/73datsunv8240z.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=86
  8. Go to www.5speeds.com. They have a listing for the tag numbers that will tell you what it came from. Mike D.
  9. If you don't have a shifter at all, I have a stock one you can have for shipping. I am using the Camaro bell housing and it fits like it was made for a Z. I bought a Hurst shifter and it is great. Mike D.
  10. Just be sure that it is a 280z and you should be all right. Mike D.
  11. Believe it or not, Jasco heavy duty paint stripper was recommened to me from my local powder coating company, and it came right off. Mike D.
  12. I have a complete spare pass. side door. I can take the door panel off and check the mechanism if you can't find a new one. Mike D.
  13. Alex, One thing you can check quickly is the amp gauge.I have had two go out on different 240's. I have switched over to a volt gauge on my current 240. Mike D.
  14. Jason, I have my pump mounted on one of the flat plates that the lower control arm bolts to, and my billet fuel filter is mounted to the other plate on the other side. I can take a pic this weekend if you are interested. Mike D.
  15. I have a cowl hood scoop that I bought from MSA.It is hand laid fiberglass and seems to be a good quality. I can e-mail pics if you like. Mike D.
  16. I had to also use the front differential mount from a 280Z on my 73. Mike D.
  17. I am sorry I couldn't make it. I made a commitment to work on my sister in law's house and I couldn't back out of it. It sounds like you all had a great time and I hope I will be able to make the next one. Thanks again for the invitation Dan. Mike D.
  18. There is a good write up at the link below. The problem with Maxima's at the wrecking yard is most of the brackets are not removeable. Mike D. http://zdriver.com/articles/full_article.php?ID=11
  19. I have a spare one here that I built for my Cleveland. I am willing to loan it out for a trial fit for anyone who needs it. Mike D.
  20. I am using ARP 100-7708 long wheel studs. They are for late model Camaro/Firebirds. The only problem is that you will have to remove the axles to install them because they are too long to fit in between the back of the axle and the hub. Mike D.
  21. Dan, The interior is almost finished. I am installing a Simpson 4 point harness at the moment. I drove it for the first time in 4-1/2 months. The mods I did over the winter took longer than I hoped. I am planning on tearing it apart for body and paint work as soon as I get my 71 on the road for as daily driver. If you are planning on being in my area, give me a call and you can stop by and have a brew. Mike D.
  22. I finally got my new wheels and tires on my 73. They are ICW Racing 16x8 with 225/50/16 with a 40mm offset. The front does not use a spacer because I have 300zx 5 lug hubs and rotors. On the rear I have a 3/4 in. spacere and have about 1/8" clearance at the coil-over. you can view a pic here if interested. 23. I have a 351C out of a Pantera that I am thinking about installing in my other Z. Right now I have a t-5 behind it, but I an going to go with an automatic overdrive instead. The cleveland is wider than a 5.0 so headers may be a problem, although Sanderson makes a block hugger header. Good luck, Mike D.
