Terry the R200 in the s32 uses the same type carrier as the 240sx, in fact I think it is the same carrier.
It is the one I have been talking about puting in a old style R200.
Soon I might be helping a guy on this board put in a helical carrier out of a s15 into a R200 out of a 240sx. I will then measure it up and compare it to my VLSD and clutch lsd carriers. They will all fit in I think it just will be the halfshafts that will be diffrent.

And be very careful not to get your fingers in the way of the piston as it would crush them. Use a piece wood like suggested and be very careful. To get the caliper off the rotor try tapping it on the sides after you unbolt it. Use the piece of wood to protect the caliper from the hammer as you are only trying to drive in one piston enough to get clearance to take it off the car.
Good luck

One thing to keep in mind about a 302 head is combustion chamber size. I am not sure of models, years and sizes. I do know a 302 will fit on a 351 but the bolts are a diffrent size 7/16" I think for the 302 and 1/2" for a 351.
Don
Mike I have some pics that show the diffrence but I don't have a place to post them. I can send you some and anybody else. The pics will show my idea on how to get a VLSD to work in a old style R-200 with u-joints.
Don
The spline count is the same as the old style R-200. The shafts are just diffrent lengths from the old style R-200, same as the S32 a VLSD. I have one VLSD carrier of that style sitting in my old style 83 zxt R-200 right now. I just need to do a little work to get working I think problem is my car needs a lot more so I can test it.

Well that is why I don't have to vacuum any more. Not long after we bought our house 10 years ago, I vacuumed the front room and she came into the room and stared at the floor. She then stated that based on the lines on the floor I hadn't done it right. She then proceded to vacuum the rug. I don't vacuum any more.
Don
Hey SuperDan will you be making any for the kids? I have four year old girl telling me to get my Z done and then my seven year old shouldn't be left out.

I was visiting the in laws in salt lake when I finely found a 83zxt to pull the CV half shafts out of. I went out there to pull the halfshafts and found I could have everything except the diff for the price. I had no way to pull the stub axles so my father inlaw goes to his truck and pulls out a lead hammer, with it we could pound on the threads without messing them up. What you could try is backing the nut off until the shaft is about 1/4" from being all the way through and pound on that. You will have to buy new nuts but it should work if you have swinging room. I would also replace the bearings.

A ford can be put in many diffrent ways you just have to think about what you want to do with the car and what would be best for you. It go from being done with motor mount plates like the JTR ones (for a chev) to engine plates like BlueovalZ. I think a guy here makes a crossmember for a SBF (Al Seliva??).
Here is a link to somebody did is cheap.http:// http://datsun.getyours.com/v8/Ford_302/ford_302.htm
I could send some pictures on how I did it but mine is not running yet.
Let me know.

I think the best ones are made by canfield. With just the seats blended in to the bowl and 2.02 and 1.60 valves my heads flowed across the range equal to the AFR 195's that had the full CNC treatment. Where they lost out was just at the top of lift and they only lost by a little bit. This was told to me by the guy that does my heads and he put it to me this way, making the AFR flow better would be hard because there not much left to work with as opposed to the canfields that had been untouched.
This guy knows his stuff having been in business for over 20 years and is very busy 12 months a year. Problem is the ports are bigger at 192 so it will give your motor a higher rev range.
Don
Yes it looks slick, kind of like a engine stand and a test stand in one. I was wondering how to do a setup so I can get an engine started and provide me with some more motivation to get my project done.
Don
I would like to get mine down to 2500 but I don't know if I am going to be able to od it. It is about 400 pounds now I think but it will only go down hill with no way to steer it.
Don
Just be careful because if I remember correctly the long one enters and goes through the bearing and carrier and into the vlsd unit. It drives the body of the clutch and the spider gears drive the other side which cause the clutch to slip. That causes the vlsd unit to heat up and that locks it up. There are two screws under the ring gear that hold the carrier together, take it apart there is not much to it. Check the side shaft engagement to be sure.
Good luck. Let me know what it takes to make it work.

Are you going to run ujoint or CV halfshafts?
I am working on a way to run ujoints but I need access to a metal lathe to make some pieces to weld up to the viscous side stubs. I cut the CV cups off the vlsd side stubs and machined them flat to weld a plate to and it will look like a stock ujoint side stub. I just went out and looked at the two sets of stubs. The size and spline count are the same but the vlsd has a longer side than the older R200. It would be big bucks getting that one machined but it could be done I guess.

My setup puts the bottom of the of the 6qt pan about an inch below the the crossmember. It also is behind the crossmember so the down side is it will be tough to unbolt the tranny but I have a hoist I can pull both out with. I also could cut one inch holes in the fire wall to remove the bolts if it came to that.
Don
It's not the ring gear that diffrent it's the side stubs. They are a diffrent length from a standard early R200.
Don
I can email you some pictures if you want.
Ok I'll bite.
You will need to use the bell housing and tranny from the mustang. I doubt the 280 t5 would fit or if it did, it wouldn't be able to stand up. I have fit a AOD behind a 302 (motor to run in the car until I get the 351 done)in in my 71 to mockup the mounts. After cutting off the old tranny mounts in the tunnel the everything fit in. The engines oil pan fits behind the front crossmember but the problem is you can't unbolt the engine from the tranny in the car.
Don
I have a rear out of a 83 zxt and it is 10mm. I still think 87 and up based on what I saw and heard when researching and ordering my LSD from MSA.
Don
I think I have been wrong before but I would be wrong if I said when
What about a viscous diff? I am trying to adapt a R200 carrier out of a Z32 and put it in a Z30/31 R200 housing. It will use u-joint half shafts but it looks like it will work but my car just came off the rotissery so it will be a while until I know for sure.
