  1. Where are the pictures?? For me the little x's in the boxes don't look very good. Don
  2. I like the top set. Grey would be the best. Don
  3. Yes it will fit without a problem. It is smaller than a chev but not a lot, it does weight 50lbs less than a 350 chev. Don
  4. They don't look like the R200 clutch LSD, R200 VLSD units or the R200 helical side stubs. I have the first two and have handled the helical in the last couple weeks putting it into a 240SX. Don I had to edit it as it didn't make sense to me after I read it again.
  5. I think that a z32 na (90 or newer) has the same side stubs as a 88SE VLSD. Theyare not the same as the old style R200 stubs, they are the same size and spline count but are a diffrent length. Use the search function to search for VLSD this has been talked about before. Don
  6. Another thought I had (yes I do get them sometimes) is do you have all the air out of the system? Also is the radiator hot? If not the water might not be going through the radiator the way it should and the water in the engine boiling away pushing water into the overflow tank. one cubic foot of water is seventeen hundred cubic feet of steam. Don
  7. Al have you checked for a short in the wiring? If it just shot over there was it faster than a engine block would heat up? Could your thermostat clamp shut cutting off the water going to the rad? I don't know what the problem is but I would like to give you a hand except I live 2.5-3 hours away. Good luck Don
  8. I would have rather droped the 350 er better a 351 or even a 302 as it's smaller into the TT. It all ready comes with the R230 and I think bigger halfshafts. Ok, this isn't even $.02 worth so it's my $.01.
  9. I think this is what you would want to do. It was posted here a little while ago. http://webpages.charter.net/vettetek/Personal%20Web%20Page.htm Hope the link works. Don
  10. I also think that Art Morrison could hook you up with a guy that would do it. Give them a call. Don
  11. Yes they will but remember that they come with 12mm ring gear bolts and most of the S30's and 31's had 10mm. Then there is the problem of halfshafts or should I say sidestubs. The ones that go into the carrier, they are diffrent from the older R200. The diffrence is where the grove for the snapring(don't know what to call it) and the length of the shafts. Try a search on this topic for more info as it has been talked about before. Maybe a search on VLDS would work. Don
  12. Ok the numbers I got were AOD 29", T5 24+7.5 for the bellhousing 157 tooth. The C4 is apart but I think addding up the pieces it comes to around 29-30". Hope this helps. Don
  13. This is not really what you are asking but with a rough measurement I made on my T5 it is the same length as the AOD I am putting in. If you want I can measure a C4 I have also. You see I wasn't sure which tranny I wanted to run so I have all three to cover my bases. Don
  14. I know a guy that is putting a V8 ford(Yamaha built) from a torus(sp?). I will Email this to him and hope he adds info to this. Don
  15. Wow that is very close to the way I am going to put a Z32 VLSD carrier into a R200 in my 71 Z with ujoint half shafts. I will only have to do the flanges on the the diff side as the halfshafts will bolt up to side stubs. This does not look very hard so this might be a way to put in a visous lsd with CV halfshafts into a early Z. Just thinking. Don
  16. Well you might want to take the header off and pull the motor. It will be a good time to add the two extra cylinders to your car. Don
  17. That is the same carrier that comes in a na Z32. Don
  18. The R200 is plenty strong I remember someone doing high 9's without a problem. When he got to mid-high 9's he started to twist the halfshafts and not the ujoints. His car was set up with no squat in the rear and didn't start breaking things until running the times I can only dream about. Don
  19. A ring and pinion have to be used and replaced as a set. The VLSD carrier can be taken out of the S14 housing and put into a old style s30 R200. It will cause some head aches. You will need to get a 87-89 R200 so it will have 12mm ring bolts or make some spacers to make it fit. That will not be the biggest problem, the VLSD takes diffrent side stubs than the old R200. They are diffrent lengths and the retaining rings are in diffrent places. I spent some time last night helping a friend put a helical carrier out of a S15 into a S32 housing to put in his S14(?) (240SX). It fit so it will also fit a old style R200 it just needs it's own style of side stubs as they are bigger and have more splines. Don
  20. Maybe I shouldn't answer this as I have both a AOD and a T5 to put in my Z, one at a time of course. I think I am going to use a AOD in my car at first. What you need to do is decide what you are going to use the car for to see if one would be more beneficial than the other. The T5 is not a super strong tranny but in a light car with a 302 it should be ok. Don
  21. rl are you the RL I know? If I remember correctly (I had a R230 for a short time) the side stub from a R200 will fit in but is the wrong length. Meaning they are 30mm/29 spline. I don't think that 30/29's would fit into a 31/30. You might have to buy S15 halfshafts on ebay or try the place/person who you bought the carrier from to get them. If you are the correct RL are we still on for wednesday night 5-5:30sh? Don
  22. I was going to give you some advise to help you until I read the last line, "ford sucks". Now I will just say, open your mind up because there are many ways to get a job done. I won't build a chevy because everyone and their brother has done one by the time the 70's had gone by.
  23. My piece of 2x3" was $22 I think and the sheet metal was free at work but I didn't need to much. Then there was the welder, wire, gas, grinder... If you can borrow a welder and a grinder it won't cost you to much. Don

    LSD swap??

Yes this has been talked in the past. Denny411 has it right. If the R200 in your Z is older than (I think) 87 the ring gear bolts will be 10mm and the VLSD from the 240sx will be 12mm. That is the easy one, the side stubs that go in to the carrier will be diffrent from the old ones. The splines are the same but the lengths and retaining clips are in a diffrent spot on the shafts. The carrier will bolt in except for those problems, I think. Don
  25. 87-89 zxt's with the 88 SE being a VLSD. Don
