  1. Alright, I'm looking at purchasing a Z car, and would like to know a fair price so I don't get ripped off. The car I'm looking at is a '70/'71. I don't know the build date, but the VIN is HLS30 - 04579 if that helps. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the car so I don't know how much you guys can help. But, I'll give the best discription I can. If you have any questions that will help you to help me, please ask them. Alright, here's the description: The car is gray and some paint is chipping on the driver side fender and some red and white is poking through, so that tells me it's been painted a few times. They painted the front bumper the same color as the car and they did a poor job because the paint is peeling. It doesn't have the original outside mirror, but it looks like later style dual mirrors. They also put a wing on the back, not a large aluminum type wing, but a small fiberglass one. The vent covers are missing from the hatch, and the only badges left are the fender and hood badges. The interior is in fair condition, and it could use some care. It doesn't look like it's missing any pieces. The dash has a few small cracks. The guages apear to be the originals. It has the 20-160MPH speedo and the 140LB oil pressure guage. It doesn't have the original shift knob. I don't remember the exact miles, but it's somewhere around 150K. I don't know if it has the original engine. The body is in good condition with only a little rust, no dents or dings. I know this is a long shot, but if you guys could give me a round-about figure, I would really appreciate it. Oh yeah, the asking price is $3900. Thanks!
  2. I think the concept looked a bit more like the original Z, but I like how the 350Z turned out. I think it looks really good.
  3. Yeah and a SBC or BBC belongs in a chevy, and a SBF or BBF belongs in a Ford.
  4. Yeah, I really like the idea of a flat head Z. I could even get a vanity plate that says, "FLT HED Z" or something like that. Finding a flathead isn't that difficult. There's usually a few on eBay, and there's a rather large hot rod community here so I bet I could find one without much difficulty. Parts for them aren't much more expensive than a normal V8 engine. There are EFI kits for them, blowers for them, even a kit to mount a C-4 transmission to them. I think the only difficult part about it would be fabbing up mounts. Although for fabbing up mounts, I could probably buy one of those plastic reproductions. It would make putting the engine in and out of the car alot easier if I could just pick it up by hand. I'll have to put some thought into it, talk to some people, and see what developes.
  5. It's not for power. It's more to be different. And like I said, they sound awesome. Very different from anything else I've ever heard. Personally, I like them. I also think they look very cool. Detail one up with some old school Edelbrock parts. Man, I bet that would look sweet!
  6. I was just thinking about my Auto Tech teacher from last year. He had a 51 Mercury with a Flat Head in it. It only had like 190HP, but it was LOUD and it sounded MEAN. Which remembering that made me think of putting a Flat Head into a Z. Has anyone seen it done? I would love to see some pictures of something like that. I bet it would be cool.
  7. So, I was surfing the web, and came across the Jeg's website and saw they're selling the LS7. I was wondering if anyone here has thought about putting one into a Z, or if they've seen someone doing it already? Jeg's LS7
  8. I'd have to say something like a 1968 Fiat 850 Idromatic. HAHAHAHAHA! I couldn't help but laugh. Those things are so slow. Seriously, you know your car is slow when the 1/4 mile is faster than the 0-60. 0-60 - 25.5 1/4 mile - 23.3 It would probably cost a fortune just to get that thing into low 20's.
  9. Yeah, most guys I've ever heard say "cute" are either gay, or they're joking. I can not remember a time I've said "cute" or other such words. It's just not right I tell you. It's just not right...
  10. Does anyone remember the Honda commercial with Asimo in it? It showed it picking up a newspaper or something. I always liked that commercial. I'm not really into most Honda cars (The FWD ones basically.), but I've got to admit, Honda is an amazing company. They've got their hands in everything. Cars, Lawn care, Water craft, robots, etc. Anyone see the Craftsmen air compressors with the honda motors (or maybe engines, I don't remember)?
  11. Three turbos? Pfft... that's child's play. Try 8 Turbos.
  12. This is definetly the coolest screensaver I've ever seen! Good find!
  13. My experiance with Ford is that A. their trucks rock. and B. everything else sucks. lol. I want an '06 F350 King Ranch so bad! But $45,XXX is a bit much for me. Not to mention the tree huggers all over me for driving such a beast of a truck. I mean, look at this thing:
  14. That's the problem with people these days. They don't want their kids getting picked on. Then the whole worlds going to turn into a bunch of sissies. This makes me want to go beat an 8 year old with a broom stick! J/K I do kind of want to make fun of people though. lol.
  15. If that's photshopped, that guy is amazing. Look at the other pictures, he must've spent alot of time doing it.
  16. That does look more like the early Zs than the 350Z does, but I like the 350Z. I think it looks cool. It's got great design and good looks, but doesn't draw too much attention. Which I like in a car.
  17. If you want to get parts to sell, here a few things I'd be looking for: -Silvia/180SX VLSDs (If you get an S15 HLSD, be sure to get the shafts) -180SX Kouki Type-X Calipers -S15 GT28 turbos (be sure to get the Spec R turbos, you can tell the difference between a Spec S and Spec R because the Spec R has a divider between the wastegate and exhaust ports) -S15 headlights (strawberry face conversions are popular, brand new, these cost upwards of $650, people would gladly pay half that for used ones) -S13 Silvia headlights (the non-projector and tri-projector are the most popular) -Factory options for Silvias and 180SXs (like fog lights, factory ground effects, etc.) -RB20 transmissions -And alot of other things that I don't have time to list...
  18. Holy crap. I can see it now, "driver rear-ends other driver, blows up city block, kills 47"
  19. I don't mean to offend anyone, but it doesn't suprise me that the guy's mexican. There seem to be alot of hispanic people in Indiana with rediculous looking cars/trucks like that one.
  20. Yeah, I knew about the Z history, but I wasn't sure about now. Hmm... I guess I'll do some more looking on the net.
  21. Is the Datsun name plate still used? I saw a truck for sale that was advertised as a Datsun that was imported from Japan. The truck was a 2002. So I was just wondering if it's still used.
  22. Okay, before anyone says it, yes I did a search. And I didn't find what I wanted to know. So, I figured I'd ask. What I want to know is, is it possible to put a 454 into a Z? If so, how much work is it? I was looking at engines, and came across this from jegs. Is this a good deal? They say it makes 425hp and 500ft/lb, is this at the motor, or the wheels? I'm guessing it's probably at the motor, so does anyone know the percent loss to the wheels? Also, what transmission would be needed to go with this? I would like to keep it a manual, and preferably a 4-speed. But, the only 4-speed manual jegs has is a Richmond T-10. Would this combo work? I apologize for so many questions, but I don't have much experiance with V8s.
