ok, i have the car out of long term storage, a 76 280z. all new plugs (gaped per hanes manuel), wires, cap, rotor, new tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors. i blew out the hard lines so they are clean. the car ran for an hour with the fuel lines to and from the gas tank stuck into the gas can. then i installed the new injectors and gas tank and it wont start. i have fuel pressure, i have spark at coil and plugs, but it will not start. i have my test light on the injector connections and it lights up. i am running out of ideas. any one? jimbo

i've seen reports of around 800 in some areas of the country but it seems like 1200-1500 is more like it. search your area for media blasting. jimbo

i stopped by there yesterday to pick up a gas tank and took a look at it again. even in the curved areas of the body, i could shave my face in the reflection. the paint is that smooth. the engine bay is clean and as fara as a smokey, there are 2 12" wide striped in front of the shop in the parking lot. i will bring my cam corder on friday gary to get footage of that. that body work and paint is amazing in person. jimbo

i would probalby go with the jag as well. i owned a ML55 AMG for a while. the suv was a dream to drive. beat several mustang gt's in it. not bad for 6000+ lbs of vehicle. the brakes had to be replaced once a year. in their wisdom, it was better to replace the softer rotors at $300 per than replace the pads. oil changes were $150 and to do the schedule 2 maintainance was $350. all that is is oil change and top off other fluids, replace cabin filters and grease the joints. i hated getting rid of it but i could not afford all of the maintainace on it at 100,000 mi. jimbo

dave has had numerous customers with them on that have done very well. they are probably as good as some of the other stuff out there. not saying that they are but people have won on konis, gc, illuminas ect. it is just another option out there for our car and we should be greatful. he has developed quite a few things for our car an i can think of one place that looks like they took his and marketed under their own. i can understand if he is a liitle "secretive" i guess it would be like asking another racer that has identical cars how he has his set up so you can beat him. just saying jimbo -
i replaced all of the fuel lines last night. the fuel pump that i picked up from dave (azcar) was a little different from what was there. the old pump was clogged with reddish crap. blew out all of the hard lines. from pump forward it was ok. from the tank it looked ok. just the pump. got a new one this morning but it is 100 degrees at 8:30 so it will wait for sundown. jimbo

once it cools down below 100 degrees i will go back outside. the car turns over fine but no gas. i put in only 2 gal in the tank this morning because i was not sure if i would need to dump it. i disconnected the fuel line at the fuel filter and got no gas. i can not hear anything from the pump. never could. i will try disconnecting after the fuel pump this evening. im not sure if it was vapor lock that was the problem. jimbo

ok. i have a 76 280 2+2 that i have had for almost 8-9 years. loved it. mothballed it 6-7 years ago because of my lack of knowledge and finances:rolleyesg. it would drive awsome all day long. turn it off. and the clock started to tick. if i was back and driving in 5 minutes, i was ok. any longer than that and i was sitting in the car for 30-45 minutes before it would start up:fmad:. once it did, it ran rough and then you would here a "bang" and the car took off like nothing had happened. pretty much why i stopped driving it. last week me and clifton hooked up to watch the hpde at firebird and i can not wait to get the 73 finished so i can go race. since that is not going to happen any time soon, "i have that 76 on the side of the house that i can drive and get some basic track time in while i finish the race car". sounds like a great idea:mrgreen:. i replaced the radiator hoses, thermostat, changed the oil, all new tires, plugs, wires, cap, rotor. am i missing any thing? the battery is dead. no big deal, there is a short in there somewhere that drains the battery in like 6-9 months. i had almost no gas in the tank when i parked it. should i replace the filter and pump? is there anything i need to look for? and any ideas on my "vapor lock" problem, i do not know if it is vapor lock but any ideas is welcome i am trying to get the car road worthy and then do some minor mods to make it fun to drive. jimbo

i have seen adjustable shocks and springs for around $500 on ebay an a little more on msa. azzcar stuff requires you weld in his camber plates and alot of people are not going to go that far to hack up their car. azzcars stuff is geared for more of the racers while illuminas can be used by all. i guess it is like getting a honda or acura. same thing only more expensive. there may be added features on one that will never be used by most people. my $.02 jimbo -

those planes are fun as hell to fly. so easy on the stick and can pull +/- 12 g's. i went on a fighter combat simulation flight for my bday a few years ago in the same airplanes. pulled 6.4 g's trying to shoot my frind down. i have the vid. i will see if i can post later. amazing planes. after that trip, i have WAY more admiration for the real fighter pilots. it is extreamly taxing just flying those manuvers, but then to have to read your gauges, flip switches, scratch your nuts or tuck them in, and stay alive. more power to them. after wards i did yack. i will find that part too. just a dry heave. will do it again. come on clifton. jimbo -
ok, so where is this "original location" that is being talked about. i have not seen anything on this ever. jimbo

i have mine bolted to the bumper mounts with the axis of rotation about 4" above. the car is bottom heavy but not bad. i can rotate pretty easy. i have 2 hf engine stands and did not modify them. the only problem is that i can not rotate the car all the way around but only to about 45^. good enough to get under there and blast away or weld without being in yoga. i suppose i could go total redneck and put the rotisserie on blocks and get more room but i dont think it is to bad as it is. jimbo

if i remember right, those measurement were for right hand drive. if my memory is correct, you will need to miiror the mesurements. jimbo

i just welded mine up last weekend. i have the same set up as 2fiddy. i have them welded so that the top of the collar is 7.25" from the casting. that way i have clearance between the rim for sure. (17" rims). 2 fiddys collars are an older generation of collars that he has installed on his car. we measured from casting to top of collar to be 7.5" and he have no room. so i lowered it a little for good measure. if you have 16" rims you will have to do the math or if your rims have a slightly different inside diameter that mine or 2fiddy's. i made sure i cut my struts way long untill i could confirm with 2fiddy's car. regardless, i think the 7.25 - 7.5" mark from casting to top of collar is the magic number. measure 2-3 times then cut. jimbo -
just saw in the flyer from msa that they have the lambo doors, direct bolt on for the s30's:puke:1300.00 jimbo

WOW. during the summers here in the deseert, we get some cool light shows. sit on the back porch with a bear and the dog and watch. a couple of summers ago, i was at a friends house doing just that when a bright light and instanious boom hit. after that all we heard was wood splintering and broken glass and bent metal:cry:. went out front and a bolt hit his tree in the front yard and blew it apart. a large branch drove threw the front windshield and others broke all of the window in the passenger side of his durango. another branch landed on the roof and made a nice dent from front to back. got to count your blessings when mom comes around the hood that close. glad everything is mostly ok. jimbo

being in the construction industry, i get a ton of stuff from the dumpsters. prior to that though i would hit the bagel places at closing to get food for the next few days. glad i am past those few years jimbo

ok. just got back from 2fiddys house and took some measurements. note: i have 5zigen rims 17x10 w/ 35mm bs (should be 25mm, oh well). from base of the strut to the top of welded collar needs to be 7". this of course will be different with different size rims. with this info i will go to the welders on thurs to get welded up nice and purdy:mrgreen: hope this helps jimbo

yakima or thule racks if installed right should not bang up the drip rails at all. any scuffs or scratches will probably be your fault:). had several on my cars and not a problem. i hated the trunk / hatch racks. those will scratch you car. a fairing will help alot for any roof mounted rack. i have had 8 road bikes + extra wheels on my old corsica when i used it to travel to races. no scratches to any car or bike. jimbo
