  1. metal roof is great for a long time. expensive but will last for decades. the main problem it sounds like is the sagging of the roof which nothing will really fix except some additional beams under them or new roof members. may not be a cheap fix anyway you look at it. jimbo
  2. sketch it out on a piece of paper so that i can see it better and add a picture. i will help out as much a possible. its what i do for a living. jimbo
  3. olie, i would just buy the sti shifters/ brakes and the rear derailer. the shimano 105 style should do just fine for what you are doing. i wouldn't go any more unless you are going to get more serious. i ran through a lot of groups in my many years of racing. the ultergra did ok for what i did to it. the dura ace is much better but that is WAY more money and probably more than what you need to go out and do the ms150. have fun and get out of the shorts asap and cover up with warm up pants after you are done with the ride. fyi, my breakfast menu for hard days was a cold can of spagetti'os. sounds absolutly horible, and it is, but if yar are going to vomit on a climb, the spagetti'os maintain their smooth consistancy when coming back up. much easier than pancakes. andrew miller of the old saturn team turned me on to it when we were team mates. jimbo
  4. if you are going to use the old school friction shifters, you will be ok. mixing the old derailer and the newer 9sp cassette. if you are going to use index shifters, it will not work. the throw of the rear derailer is the wrong size and the paralleagram is at the wrong angle. i dought that you are useing index shifter though seeing the old modolo brakes. i remember coming down some big passes in colorado and trying to stop. ok for the time. throw some cork tape on the bars and you should be good to go. done several ms 150's in my day. jimbo edit: looked at the photo again. no shifter bosses on the down tube. you will have to use bar end shifters but set them on the friction setting and not the index. have fun
  5. wyoming and colorado are the same as kansas, oklahoma ect on the east side of the rockies, the west side is unbelievable. they just opened the sky bridge on the north rim. thats the side that no one goes to. the south rim has all of the tourist spots and the north is deserted. the sky bridge is a 100' long u shaped glass bridge that goes out over the edge of the canyon wall 4000' above the ground. cool. if you are going through santa fe new mexico, pm me and i will give you a hit list of the great resturants in town. lived there for too long. there is a lot to see along the way. jimbo
  6. has anyone caught the 80's show on vh1? love that. go back to obscure trivia from a specific year. i was born in 73 and when they have the 70's show on, i find it amazing how much of that crap i remember. not that i want to but i do remember. videos made a change around the time that genisis made the video with the puppets and the scene with ronald reagan in bed in a pool of water still scares the crap out of me. after that, mtv stoped playing videos. remote control, (adam sandler) house of style (cindy crawford & denis leary), ect. i would rather watch transformers, gi joe, or thundercats than see that crap again. jimbo
  7. after watching the first fast and the furious, i was at work killing time and did a search on z cars and found terrys car site (blueovalz) and showed one of my coworkers that his little car can hold nothing to that. lurked around for a year or so doing "research" for a purchase. i have killed 3-4 reams of paper for my project car, all stashed away in the garage for when that section of the car come up. thanks everyone for info and inspiration. jimbo
  8. i think ive tripped over those guys at a few clubs. a frind of mine is in a speed metal band and has opened for dio, sevendust, and static-x. some of the stuff clifford is into is way beyond me. here is their my space http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=40078411 jimbo
  9. ok il post. im huge into irish punk. 80's punk, metal, rock, anyone who is pissed off at something and put music to it. dmx, ice cube, ice t, public enemy, nwa ect. dont care. i like angry music. dropkick murphys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKyLgRzOTsY flogging molly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JePJNCrxpcY both are insane live. i show my age to by going back to the 80's tecno like (dont hate me, 1 of my guilty pleasures) flock of seagulls, devo, berlin, ect. punk, metal, rock, rap, anyone who is pissed off at something and put music to it. dmx, ice cube, ice t, public enemy, nwa ect. dont care. i like angry music. jimbo
  10. i as thinking about this on the way to work this morning. stupid question but bear with me. lets say you have a head that flows 200 cfm. easy math. put a turbo on at 14.3 psi. does the head now flow 400 cfm because of the above atmospheric pressure? and what is the actual flow of a 60 mm tb? i have my set up at 3" or 75mm because i did not want any restrictions from the turbo, throught the fmic, tb and into custom intake that matches the same diameter. just trying to understand better. jimbo
  11. john, i have had american home shield for a couple of my houses. i think it was 5-600 a year. little foggy. i have slept sence i have had it. brain dump every night around 2 am. anyway, on a older house, say 10-20 years old or older, it can save you a ton of money if anything were to go wrong. it can cover everthing in the house. your old washer and dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, ac or swamp or heater, ect. it can come in handy when you want a new "garbage disposal" and want to replace it but have no money to do so and you "accidently" throw severla pounds of stuff in it to kill the motor. call them up and i think i paid $20 for a tech to come out and fix or replace. on my current house, the paid for a new ac unit. not cheap for them but $20 for me. once everthing is new i would probably get rid of it. good job on the new (for you) house. exciting and stressful at the same time. jimbo
  12. i had the bare car on 2 hf dollies as i moved crap around in the garage. not a problem moving in and out of the garage or to the side of the house where i have a hf portable garage set up as my blasting area. jimbo
  13. i bought one of the hd husky compressors a while back. 30 gal 5 hp i think. runs constantly while i am using a die grinder or media blaster. i have an air da sander that killes the compressor, so like john i bought an electric one from sears. i figure i do not have to wait for it to come up to full strength to sand. i think a dual stage would kick a$$ but do not have the $$$. i have learned to have patience with what i have. blast for a while then find something else to work on. kind of sucks but it is what it is. jimbo
  14. thats right up there with fishing with dynamite on a frozen pond with a brand new escalade and a bird dog. they tried to file a claim because the escalade is at the bottom of the pond after throwing the tnt, the bird dog retrieved it. as it came back, the fisherman started to shoot at the dog for bringing back "the stick". the dog then hid under the only shelter around, the escalade, and boom. darwinism jimbo
  15. i bought the 77 lb injectors not to long ago but i am a long way from using them. they are currently at lonewolf with my intake mani. clifton recomended them to me. jimbo
  16. i have had a couple of jobs where the clinet wanted solar panels to run the house. a whole batch of panels may run the ac but that is it. i have a quote for my house of 25k for solar panels, batteries ect for my house that i want to build. the feds give 10k back, the state 5k, and mortgage rate drop because of green building. this may only be able to run most of the ac's or all of one of the guest houses. better than nothing i guess. it just shows you the current limits of solar generating. then you can sell back to the utility co. here we have 360 days of sun. in washington it would be much, much less. the tankless water heaters are a cool idea. talk with a plumber though as some say that without a water softner, the unit will die in a year or two. and at 600-1000 per unit, thats not cool. jimbo
  17. the leech field / pit should be fairly deep. i doubt that you would hit crapy soil just by digging your footings. good info on the gas. cool. much more efficient that elect. you would not want to drive over the old tank. woops and fall in. nasty. cannnot have anything or drive way within 10' of tank location. they are just plastic or fg. jimbo
  18. john, the local area may dictate who does what. 1. septic removal for hook up to city sewer. the tank would have to be emptied. obviously and may be able to cap and abandon in the yard. others may say to yank it out, leaving a good size hole to fill up. i would think you could leave it in. 2. price is again based on the area. maybe a couple of grand if that. that also depends if the sewer tap is on the property or still out in the street, ouch. that may be the deal breaker as that is a major pita. 3. here it is the plumber who runs the gas. again, do you have a stub at the property or in the street. gas cannont be run under slab so it comes into the house and runs in the attic. getting the lines to all of the appliances might be another pita. depending on how much room is in the attic to feed lines down in the walls. 4. that probably would not be too bad. attic space is ke and how big of a house. figure 1 ton of ac for every 400 sq. ft. of liveable space. ac's generally max out at 5 tons so that would cover a 2000 sq. ft. house. any larger and it is a split system. not a bad idea anyway for zoning rooms not used. 5. covered in #3. hopes this helps out a little. i would get in touch with a local contractor for more help and prices. if the area is slow, prices are cheap. jimbo
  19. this may be REALLY dumb. is our datsun T5 the same as any other T5 minus the bell housing? could you order an new T5 and put on the old bell housing? something like this? http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp and another one, would dog gears be a big no no for street use. just another while im at it syndrome. jimbo
  20. redbirds is a great looking example. jimbo
  21. My friend used to keep a single egg in a ziplock bag in his center consol lol. i used to have a saturn sedan with a sunroof. i would keep a bag of M&M's in the car and toss a hand full up out of the sunroof and try to get the guy behind me. the warm phoenix sun does things to the thin candy shell. splat on the windshield. when they turn on the wipers it would smear all over the windshield. i still laugh now as i type this but one window got pretty covered one day. after that one i quit. now i drive a nissan armada. cant stop that thing for nothing. big and heavy. i feel safe in it, i just feel sorry for anyone in my way in that unfortunate intance when something goes wrong. i ued to be pretty mild behind the wheel, but several months driving a big delivery truck around taught me to be way more aggresive with my driving just to get around. i have to admitt, i still stand on the brakes every once in a while. i try not to though. i want to intall a paintball gun in the back and pop off a couple of shots at the cars body. jimbo
  22. is ron at isky? i have been dealing with nolan and he is on my $@it list. he is never there and i cant get an straight answer. i ordered the z-gad cam in september. got it. shiped it to lone wolf for work to be done with the rest of the head. figures, i orderd solid instead of internal oiled, sent back in october, still waiting. first lost, then out of stock. then fresh batch. should be shipped last month. not last month, this week (3-weeks ago). all i want is my cam. jimbo
