  1. I use to sand blast concrete forms for a living, the ones that form up your sidewalks. i used a suction hopper that would suck out #300 of sand in a day. i would fill up the evaperation pond every day with water. i would have to get a tractor every month to clear out the area but other than that it ws not to bad. the sand could not be reused because it would clog up immediatly. for a large auto project i dont think it would work that great because of all of the waste. small stuff would not be too bad, like blasting a front fender. i would not do the whole car though. huge mess. i still used a mask, just not the heavy duty one. i just finished sand blasting my car. have the doors to do but that wont take long. jimbo
  2. im in. post and me and my step son will be there. take over the track:) jimbo
  3. clifton painted that himself. he told me he had about 1000 - 1500 in supplies when he got it done. red is expensive, blue is usually not. (think picaso and his blue period, he could not afford any other colors:)) black is hard because it shows all imperfections and white is the easiest to keep clean. when white is dirty it does not look as dirty as any other color. jimbo
  4. i am sure my welds wont look that good but better than what i can do is better. i am going over to 2fiddy's tommorow after work to do the final mock up on his car with my stuff. i will let you know what i find out. andy (2fiddy) said that dave had a few different lengths of collar which will make a difference. i will find out that as well. i am tired of driving my stepsons truck every day. jimbo
  5. funny how you mention this. i cut my struts a while back and got super busy at work and they sat for several months. i just came in from the garage from test fitting in my wheels and it looks like it hase to be near the 4" mark to clear the collar. i am running the same set up as 2fiddy but with 10's in the back instead of the 9's. 2 fiddy said that daves was a little long. but i do not remember how much too long. i will have to stop by and measure his set up. i am running 17" rims. your weld look amazing. i was going to do it my self untill i saw that. cant be out done by too much:mrgreen: jimbo
  6. the fronts are welded down at the base while the rears are up 5-6". jimbo
  7. yes, andy had them plated. very nice job. jimbo
  8. great read. with a hi performace motor, say tims car, would a dual exhaust be more benificial than a single. say 2 2" pipes vs a single 3"? jimbo
  9. i think clifton wants more torque. he has all of the parts to complete the job, he just needs the garage finished to move the car in there to start working on it. jimbo
  10. the sholder straps should be at a slightly raised angle from the top of the seat. that way in the event of the crash, ths straps will not tighten up in a fashion to compress the spine. i know there was a thread about it. search and yee shall find this http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116804&highlight=seat+harness+install the submarine straps i think should be used. it keeps the seat belt in the correct location and if installed and adjusted properly, will not crush the nads. jimbo
  11. by modifiying trusses, you mean what exactly. trusses are not something that you can go at a sawz all with. jimbo
  12. the wing that mikelly picked up is similar to the upper end models provided by apr. i do not know how similar the airfoil is but the looks appear to be the same, but much cheaper. http://www.aprperformance.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=45 jimbo
  13. yes they are ahead of "us", but i have always thought that a wing on the back of the z made it look like it meant buisness. sleepers are way cool, but cars that look extreamly fast sitting in a parking lot are cool too. my .02 jimbo
  14. afaik, the higher the wing, the cleaner the air it is in. for it to be effective, it needs to be in clean air. with vortex gens, they bring the clean air down closer to the bottom edge of the car instead of up near the mid point of the hatch. i think the wing in the video posted is up high but not to high. i have seen several other z's with high wings, one is in hawaii i think. i have the vid on my hard drive. more often than not, on newer cars, the wing is 8-10" off of the deck, be it vipers or stangs. as far as the width goes, i know each sactioning body has their own rules. nasa cannot be wider than the car, i think. probably a good rule of thumb, but check the cc&rs to be sure. and the farther back behind the rear wheels will make the car pitch back because of the moment caused by the added downforce, with out anything being done up front of course:-D i think the wings on the z looks mean as hell. time to scare the crap out of those little ricers. jimbo
  15. is that a apr wing? i bought on on ebay a couple of weeks ago. how did you end up mounting it and probably more importan is is that a standard hatch or a fg hatch. i have a fg hatch and am trying to figure out a good attachment detail. more pics please. jimbo
  16. if you want one running straight out of the box, a donar car may be your best bet. if you are going to do some machine work to it, a jy would probably be the place to go. jimbo
  17. i bought mine from air tab http://www.airtab.com/ less than $50 for 8 generators to fit across the top of the roof in front of the hatch. have not installed yet. here are some pics http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o15/jim73240z/IMG_2155.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o15/jim73240z/IMG_2158.jpg jimbo
  18. i think i have seen one driving around here with the mercedes logos. or something like it. jimbo
  19. here is one that no one has posted yet. ac-130 spectre. http://members.tripod.com/~allen8633/ac130h6568105blast.jpg http://members.tripod.com/~allen8633/ac130hair6569.jpg if all of the guns fire at the same time, with enough ammo, it will put 1 round in every sq ft of a football field. here is a on board vid from afgan. http://www.nata2.info/v/war/f/AC-130U_gunship_video_lo.wmv and another http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5708007431110936234 jimbo
  20. here is something like it that may work http://cgi.ebay.com/KEYPAD-COMBINATION-STARTER-KILL-FOR-CAR-OR-CAR-ALARM_W0QQitemZ250115114679QQihZ015QQcategoryZ94833QQcmdZViewItem cool idea. very "transporter". i only wish i could open up a can of whoop ass like he did. jimbo
  21. I just looked at the data again and it appears that the legend is backwards because the whale tail and wing all creat negative numbers where a stock rear end is a positive number. i think this is where the confusion stems from. jimbo
  22. that is the internal bomb bay. that way it is invisible to radar while carrying the weapons untill it is to late. open doors, drop death, and go home invisible to radar. the b-1, b-2, F-117, and all new advanced tacticle fighters all have interior bays. kinda cool. jimbo
  23. my favs WWII - F4-U Coursair Korea - Saber Jet Cold War - Blackbird Vietnam - Cobra attack heicopter Current era would be the F-18 hornet or the A-10 (my brother is currently working for Boeing as a combat reliability engineer for the Super Hornet) all of the one mentioned above are excelent for what they were intended for nice pics from the air show jimbo
