  1. lets try this http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o15/jim73240z/IMG_2158.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o15/jim73240z/IMG_2157.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o15/jim73240z/IMG_2156.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o15/jim73240z/IMG_2155.jpg hope this works. jim
  2. the airtabs are only one inch tall. next time you are on the freeway, try putting your hand on the roof of the car. as we know there is a layer with low pressure just above the car. by my stupid little experiments, it seems to be 2 fingers tall, that is where you start to really feel the wind. the air tabs are about the same height, right where you want them. i will upload the pictures of them on my roof when i pull my head out. jim
  3. is that like the cal wing or the one that you see a lot on mitsu eclipsiseses. jim
  4. trevor, pm me if you want, i have been in construction for many years, worked for several gc, curently work as a structural engineer, and own my own luxury home design buisness. i could help out as much as i can with some of those q's. jim
  5. point blank, if you want max down force, get a wing and get it up as high as you can to get clean air around it. if you want to negate the up lift by the shape of our cars, i think the air needs to be directed back down the hatch to a spoiler/ tail. the vortex gens allow the air to follow the shape of the car better to be used at the spoilers. jim
  6. i know. the wing would make the car ass heavy. i will stick with the tail, maybe later when the car acutally runs i can screw around with the wing. jim
  7. i had them mocked up on the car before i started blasting away. when i get the car primered to go to the cage guy, i will throw them back on and snap a picture with the tail on the hatch and the gens on the roof. looked kinda cool. ( i can stand a little more bling than most of the guys here it seems. i was really tempted to get a wing but backed up for fear of major ridicule(sp)). jim
  8. that is what i am doing. i have a whale tail and will bond 5 genrerators just before the hatch seam. jim
  9. i was looking into getting one of the wings from tiger racing. i am alsogoing to use a fg hatch from beta. john was concerned about the 700# or so at 100 mph on the hatch. he said to have a solid brace through the hatch to keep from crushing. i think that that would be an issue evon on a standard hatch. that is a lot of downforce. problem 2 is 700# in the back would raise the front end something stupid. there would be no way to get an air dam to work at 100 mph because as soon as you hit the brakes, the dam would hit the tarmac and rip off. whale tail or bre for me, probably tail. jim
  10. should be able to use the stock crank on those. that is what i am doing. jim
  11. has any one used the bigger valves from tep? any comment, concerns, yes, no, i dont know, stay away, ect. i am ready to have my p90 built and now would be the time to do this. thanks jim
  12. as an ex pro road cyclist, we had numerous versions of carbon aero wheels. there were several designs that were stiff and others were not so. there was one manufacture where if we were on a rough road and i was stuck in the pack next to him, i would go elsewhere. i have been behind and beside several of those wheel where when the rider hit a small pot hole, ther wheel exploded and he hit the road hard. remember, these were 175lb guys at 30 mph, not several thousand pounds at 75-80 mph. the results were not nice. if designed with kevlar in the carbon cloth, it would give a little bit of a warning that something was wrong. i doubt that you could react in time in a car. i will stick with metal rims. tried and true. jimbo
  13. vegas has a lot to do even if you don't gamble. the wife will love the forum shops at ceasars or the venitian or mgm or aladin or balagio or the wynn. tons of shows beside the cirque du sole (sp) shows. saw "O" in Jan. different. seen blueman group several times at the luxor, now at the venetian. you can turn in your man card at the door for celine deon. ouside of vegas is hoover dam. cool. I guess iron mike tyson is now on display at the mgm. i do not think he can go any lower than that. he has some ring set up outside one of the cafes. if you just want to look at people, the wynn and the balagio have insane amounts of talent. bring your credit card though. for cheap games, stay out of the balagio and the wynn. go to the excaliber or some of the other older casinos. there is just to much to do there. good luck. remember, vegas is a success if youleave with roughly the same amount of $ that you came there with. jimbo
  14. i grew up in casper! went to high school at natrona couty before my parents uprooted me to santa fe. thats crazy. i just took a vacation to wy and the blackhills with my family and showed them the house at the top of poplar dr by garden creek falls and showedthem the house where all of the deer go in the winter to get fed by the homeowners. small world jim
  15. congrats mike. for a long time i have always wanted to own my own company. i used to work for a custom home builder designing his homes untill the owner pissed me off. i quit and took a couple of clients with me as i was already doing some work on the side. i got so busy by myself that i taught my wife how to draw. then we got so busy that she quit her job. then employees and all of the headaches that go with that. billing, taxes, blah blah blah. i some times wish i had a reagular job so that i do not have to work so dam hard. the grass is greener on the other side, yes. but i would rather have some time with my kids and working on the car than working to keep up with all of the work. for all of you guys that want ot own your own business, go for it, but remember, there is no guaranteed pay check at the end of the week. jimbo
  16. somewhere out there, a company has a set of rims that is encrusted with dimonds and jems worth over 1 mil. if you buy them you will get a free bently to put them on. can you say car jacking. that will put some serious tiffany teeth on a lot of getto boys. jimbo
  17. i used to live in santa fe for many years. you would only see the area green for about 2 weeks out of the year. i miss the food, nothing else. jim
  18. the seat issue is a good one. i will have to check that out. my ultra sheilds came in and i will see what happens. the tubes are good for out of plane forces, like at a funky angle to the bar where as the rectangular steel i better when the froces are applied to the right angles. stronger when the force is applied parallel to the longer side. i think that if the tech guys say no to that idea, beefing up the rockers or replacing them with fresh metal is still better. jim
  19. i was over at dave's (azcar) house and we were talking about cages and what i wanted to do. he was the one that suggested using the 1x3 along the rockers and using that as the platform that the rest of the cage sat on. you could stitch weld the 1x3 to the rockers and then use the 100 sq. in. plate to tie those in at the toe box and at the back at the seat belt mount location. then you would not have to worry at all about the main hoop bar punching a hole in the floor if something were to happen. i would have to take out 4' feet of bar and rockers. way overkill, yeah probably. dave thought that if he had to do it over again, he would do this. he thought it would have kept his legs from getting as injured as bad when he turned his car into a little ball of scrap. with that being said, i have looked through the nasa rule book and it said nothing about building a cage like that (that i could find). katman did not think they would permit that when i last asked him about cages. maybe john c can chime in on this as well. i am in the position now wher it would be an easy install as the floors are out and the sfc are about to go in. i need to go out to firebird this friday and check out the races and speak with the tech guys to find out for sure. jim
  20. what if you were to put a 1x3 on edge down the rockers and attach the hoops to that. kind of a cage that is independent of the car but attached to it, i guess. hell i dunno. just thinking out loud, or in cyber. my thought is to put the cage on good fresh metal and attach the seats to it as well so that in the event of something not very nice, you are inside of a cacoon(sp), almost military in thought and redundancy. jim
  21. i just looked at mine and they are 180# & 225?# for the springs. 3fiddyz has a set of the first runs and started at around the 250# range and went down from there. if they are to soft, i will just take 5 min and drive over and get another set. jim
  22. i just got them last friday. he got in a new shipment last week. really cool. it has the collor at the bottom to adjust the ride height of the car while on the car. i do not know if the older ones had that. the shocks are supposed to be fairly stiff. i think i am trying 200# +/- for the springs. i am trying to get the camber plates welded in in the next week or so. as soon as i can i will post some pics of them on the car.
  23. 1. shelby datona 2. my brother had a '67 427 ford fairlane that kicked a$$. i will take that 3. a big f350 with railroad ties for bumpers so i can move cars that are in my way at the parking lot. 4. 356 speedster 5. my s30 jim
  24. it sounded like the z32 bell and the 350 bell were interchangeable. i may have to go and get one to find out i guess. i was hopeing that some one had beat me to it. i will let you guys know. jim
