Brake Review what works and what doesnt?
PETEW replied to PETEW's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
John, Yeah I wish I could have gone cheaper, but no one was replying at the time I put the post in. Your set up is actually what I was trying to go with, as far as price and performance. Unfortunately I don't have the time (wife is due any day now ) nor the tools to really fabricate metal parts. I thought the deal I got was fair, and like I said will be more than I will ever need. If those brakes overheat or fail, I'm guessing it will be my fault. Well now the whoa part is taken care of time to finish the go! -
Brake Review what works and what doesnt?

Nothing gets past you guys. I couldn't pass up the deal. The prices were better than he advertises on his site and the performance I should get from them should surpass whatever I need. Heck I even a got a line lock with it for nothing. I know they don't cost much but what the heck it just helps it make it a better deal. I will let you guys know what I think of them once they're on. -
WOW! I like your Z. Man I hope my '77 looks that good when I am done.
-
Those videos were awsome, but whoever was driving sucked! They couldn't get out of second gear. Oh crap, I hope that wasn't you driving. If it was sorry.
-
Yeah, there are definitely some cheesey cars that I have owned back in the day. But as time went on and the jobs got better so did the cars. I am really anxious to get my Z on the road, but I want to do it right. None of that band aid fixing I did in my past. Kids haven't changed it's only the cars.

Brake Review what works and what doesnt?
PETEW replied to PETEW's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Well, I went and spent a buttload of money but got 4 piston caliper front with a 12 x 1.25 curved vane vented disk, and 4 piston rears with a 12 x .81 curved vane vented disk. The package came complete with all hardware, lines, pads, etc. I also got an adjustable proportioning valve. Got the complete set up to my door for $1500. I really didn't want to spend that much but if your going go you got to whoa! I hope to have it on the car in the next few weeks so I can take some pics of it. -
Brake Review what works and what doesnt?

Here's another dumb question. When switching over to the 280ZX master are you taking the booster and making it a power brake setup or just using the master cylinder. I know the older Z has that vacuum servo thing but it seems like it would be a good idea to make the car have power brakes since switching the master over. It doesn't look like it would be hard, but looks can be deceiving. Has anyone done this? Thanks. -
I have been a member here for quite some time and have read multiple thoughts on brakes and what works and what doesn't. What I want now is what is a set up that will work and be a balanced system for drag racing and for some autocross and track days, and be good enough in the long run to keep me happy. I am looking at running 280ZX front calipers and vented rotors on the front with 280ZX rear calipers w/ solid rotors out bake. I am also looking at a full 4 piston aluminum caliper w/ 12.2 vented rotor and 240sx rear brake. I just don't know if this is a balanced system. I also am afraid of doing the 280ZX front brake since I have to drill out the threads in the struts making future upgrades more difficult and/or expensive. I really would like to buy the racing front set up and keep my drums out back for know just to get it on the road. Then switch to a 240sx set up with CV's later on. I'm just not sure if this will balance out. Can I compensate with a proportioning valve, or do I need to do both at once. Anyone with some experiance let me know please becasue I need to make a decision right away. The front race set up is less than $700 right now with calipers, rotors, pads, lines, and hardware. Thanks for all the help.

Scottie, do you mean the SRT turbo Neon. Magazines are quoting low 14 second times with these cars, as well. They also say that they can do a mid to high 5 second 0-60. They say they are underated from the factory and are putting as much as 223 hp at the wheels.

No, I think means all of us. Last time I looked, all Datsuns were made in Japan.

Yesterday a guy I know is telling me all apout his friends and how they all have these highly modified cars (running 10's and 11's in the quarter mile of course ). I'm listening to all his stories (bullshit) and just nodding my head. Some of the things he is telling me might be true but this guy is known to stretch the truth. The one thing I had a problem with was he was telling me these guys have Hondas and Integras as beater cars with type R motors from the prelude and that they just drop in. He then said that with nothing more than exhaust and a chip they will run mid 13 sec quarter mile times, beating Z28's and such. Is this really true?? I would wadd thru the Honda sites myself but I just don't have the stomache for that crap. Those sites semmed to filled with patholigical liers . This guy currently drives a BMW, and it is a nice car, but he is one of those guys that thinks BMW is the best car out there. I told him how the G35 smokes the BMW in every category and is cheaper, he immediatley said BMW has a sportier model coming out with more horsepower and better handling. Again, I don't know maybe it's true. Either way, after hours of listening to crap I had my fill. Amazing, the guy thinks he knows all about cars, and doesn't even change his own oil. I just thought I would share. Oh by the way, yes I plan on finding out what is bull when I get my 280Z running with the turbo motor and a new hybid in it.

12 x 1.25 " wilwood brake preorders!
PETEW replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Wow. The stuff looks great (on your site). I will be making an order soon. I have been working on the house recently so the Z has been just sitting. If you make the fuel rail I will definitley order that since my turbo motor is going to bigger injectors (then I don't have to modify the injectors ). I will probably be contacting in the next few weeks for a few of your items. Thanks for all your efforts. -
I never saw that add before. It is VERY cool. I love stuff like that, I was watching it the whole time wondering what it was for but saying how cool it was.

The best product I have ever used is Zaino Bros wax. It is actually not a wax but a polymer. It is a multi step system (claying, sealer, wax, etc.), but it lasts forever and the shine is awsome. You have to buy it over the internet, though. Here is a picture of my car (It's white so it isn't so dramatic) after I used it. Sorry the picture isn't that good. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/petewolbach/lst?.dir=/My+Photos&.src=ph&.view=

Iraqi Family Risks Their Lives To Save American Army POW
PETEW replied to Synlubes's topic in Non Tech Board
That story just goes to show you there are Iraqi people who appreciate what we are doing for them. You don't hear more of that due to fear. Getting rid of Saddam is going to be good for everybody. -
They are talking about this very item in another post: Here ya go http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19879&highlight=

Holy Crap! That is a lot of HP for a little Z car to be runnin around with. I'm guessing you'll keep with the big dawgs on the straights. I can't wait to hear more about your setup. I have to put my SDS on yet. I have been working on the house so much recently that my car has just been sitting. Oh, well the kitchen will be done in another week or two. I just have to put the Pergo down and it will be time to work on the car again. Great job on the car!

President Bush has to have had one of the worst 4 year terms to deal with as a president. The economy is lagging, we had the twin towers go down to terrorim (the worst showing of terrorism in our country's history) and now a war in Iraq. He has dealt with everything very well in my opinion and deserves this countries respect.

Interesting info on our leadership and those who oppose them
PETEW replied to denny411's topic in Non Tech Board
Mike Kelly I couldn't have said anything better myself. I have a real problem with people who are still rallying against a war that is allready going on. Spend your energy supporting our troops, or do something to help the Red Cross. I hear these arguments about other dictatorships that we aren't attacking, so it has to be about the oil. You hear the we aren't doing anything about Korea then. People need to realize that Korea is Chinas immediate problem and will be dealt with. China is a world power, or soon to be, and will have to bear some of that responsibility. Right now we are the worlds police and, though it is not a popular role, I never hear anyone complain when they need our aid in money, or military support. I could go on and on about all this but I won't bore you. The war while not a good thing is a necessary one. The chance that Iraq could become a democracy will mean great things for them as a country and less terrorist support. I hope that the troops come home safely. -
Awsome story. It definitley makes me feel good that there are still people in this world willing to lend a hand.

Sorry, I forgot to put that with the pics. They were Miata seats. They are very low, looks like I should have plenty of head room even with a helmet.
-
I just wanted to show you guys what I got(miata seats) for $80. They had a ton of different style seats there. A lot of Eagle talons, Mitsu Eclipses, 90's Celicas, even leather Infiniti seats. I am sure there are more, I just didn't get to look around, lots of snow and slop still around. If anyone needs seats I could try and help out. I go by this place often and could keep an eye out.
