  1. Just find a exhaust housing with the same a/r. If it's a garrett then their usually swappable like legos. I've done it before.
  2. Why won't it work with a 280Z? The front though is next on my list though.
  3. I can't find it for the life of me. It's the front strut bar that attaches to the frame rails in the engine bay and to the firewall also. I've looked everywhere. Help!
  4. What are the limits of the stock ecu? Since I'm not looking for a monster rotary. I mean how much of a weight loss is gained from 13b over the L28? Not to mention the better weight distribution. You might not be able to get alot out of the stock ecu but when you count the weight loss, and better placement you can count that into the use of the stock ecu equation
  5. Instead of running the RE could you just run a complete 13B from a T2 and not have to worry about the premix gibber jabber? This is the swap I want to do once the L28E blows. I like sound and small package of the rotary and how far you can set it back but this premix stuff kinda changes my mind. But this is just for the RE or would this be for any 13B?
  6. not to mention the dist. will be hitting the firewall and you'll have to mod the inlet of plenum to otherside. Maybe just use the head and use the coilpack setup of the RWD SR's and the ecu from it or standalone. alexideways so us some pics of your friends swap. As far as I know the mounts don't even bolt on and the tranny doesn't bolt on.
  7. The MS will come soon. It's almost winter soon so if I can get this all bolted and welded up before the first snow fall then the FMU will be used basically just for that short time. I can get MS for my birthday in March and give me time to wire it up since there's snow on the ground still and get all t's crossed and i's dotted.
  8. My turbo spend spree has started!! Bought my adj fmu, walbro 255lph fuel pump, stock 280zx turbo mani that'll i'll modify for a ext wastegate. T4 60-1, 60mm wastegate and tial bov and a nice bar plate fmic is also on the list to buy. Just need to deposit my money from an engine I sold to today before I can buy it all. Stay tuned for pics. Now your saying...ummm t4 and a fmu...woah buddy you need to set your priorities straight but while I have the money I'm getting something I won't have to ever upgrade. The fmu was cheap and it's something I can use on other cars and it was cheap so I couldn't pass it up.
  9. I have to pick up a new 255 lph pump so no worries about that. Come tuesday it'll be a turbo shopping spree. 700 to spend on turbo goodies for the Z. But for the like of me I find a damn manifold. Anyone have a good manifold laying around? I'm picking up a TIG/plasma for christmas but till then I still need just a stock unit for now.

  12. Brought back from the dead..lol. I picked up a AE86 and have been giving all my love(money) to that but I've got a nice chunk of change coming so I'm planning on buying a nice snail yada yada yada. For the people who were running FMU's which ratio were you using or did you just use like a adj fmu like a cartech? The FMU is just until I can get some more green to go MS but I want to drive it before then.
  13. Installed some new wires since one broke when I gonna check them for cont. It starts up on the first crank but sounds like it has trouble breathing. I'm pretty sure out local pick and pull has a 280 with a good AFM and then if thats not it then I don't know what to do. It doesn't smoke anymore though so I was thinking one wire was bad and it wasn't firing on all cylinders. It'll revs fine when I give it gas and everything and sounds like normal. Just can't hold an idle. It's not a hiccuping like a vacuum leak would usually do. When you install a KA24 throttle body do you need to adj the tps or just leave it? I'm pretty sure there's a s13 out there too and maybe the tps sensor is bad. I mean the tps and afm didn't have either of the plastic covers on them since I've owned it. I don't know why the previous owner never covered them up. He had the cover for the AFM and the tps sensors. ??? So different AFM and hell just a new TPS and if not that then I'm baffled.... and yes I read the vacuum leak link you gave me but I'm pretty sure it's not a air leak though.
  14. Well I cleaned the terminals on the tps and afm and inside the afm since when I bought the car it was left wideopen and I just recently put the cover back on. I cleaned the terminals on alternator and cleaned up the ground on it and it ran alittle better and started up awhole lot easier and stayed running until I would shut it off but still kinda had a off idle sputter like every other minute but it still smoked. I don't remember if I stated that in the first part. The car only smoked before just once started and gave a slight little puff and that was it. Now it isn't like a smoke stack but there is noticable smoking. No coolant I see in the oil or vise versa with the oil in the coolant. But would a bad headgasket act like this? I may pick up a new afm on ebay just to be on the safe side.
  15. I got the 8pt and if I ever sell my 280z the next person is gonna have to be pretty short since I'm just a little guy at 5'5". I have a Buddy Club bucket seat in my car and can't see how I'd get the side door bars in without taking some material out of the door frame. Since the seat is like just barely touching the door just millimeters. I still have to install my rear x-bar also. I may pick up the tube notcher at HF or just use my angle grinder. I also had to install a tube that goes from the harness bar to rear support bar for the mainhoop otherwise my mounting point for my harness would of been a 90 degree angle coming out of the seat. Now it comes out at like a 30-40 degree angle so I don't have to worry about compressing my spine if I mounted it to the harness bar. For the price though you can't beat it unless you have free access to a tube bender and make your own. Hell I think their even 10% off right now till the end of August.
  16. I'll try that in the morning. Is this a usual thing? I was super close to buying a new fuel pump cause one local guy I talked to said S30's have shady fuel systems. Plus with it directly in the open like it is I was thinking that might be the issue. Who knows I may still pick up a walbro cause who knows how old this pump is. But I'll pull the connectors on the AFM ,TPS and the ECU and clean both just to be on the safe side. I'll report back with the results. Hopefully all goes well cause having two older imports really drains the wallet faster then I can fill it. Maybe the Z just felt left out after I got the AE86 this was it's way of getting me to notice it again and show it some love. lol.
  17. My 280z has been good to me ever since I've owned it. One day driving to work it just started sputtering and acting like it wasn't getting gas. No matter if I floored it it wouldn't accelerate. I tried downshifting and just made it worse. I've never had any previous mechanical problems with it. When I got it back home from being trailered back home it started right back up but didn't sound right and the idle was really rough. At first I could put the pedal to the floor and it wouldn't rev but slowly it would start to climb and finally like something was plugged it would just pop back to normal and would rev freely but then would slowly start dying down if I didn't give it gas and then just eventually die out after about a minute. I installed a new fuel filter and it didn't do a thing. This sound fuel related or maybe a bad tps or afm or maybe just a bad contact of one of the two? I'm baffled.

  19. Turbo came today and it's a H1C. Bigger then a 60/63 that I had awhile ago. The compressor housing is big as my hand spread out. I'd liek to see this compared to a HY35 to see how big those are.

  22. I have a 280z but the grill, turnsignals and mounting brackets for them all gone. So I have quite abit of room to work with up front. I'm getting kind of worried cause I sent my two turbo's I was gonna use for my TT setup in a trade for that Holset and have yet to hear back from the guy. and we were both suppose to send our turbo's out Tuesday and give each other tracking number and I haven't gotten anything from him like a email or a pm.

  24. Are you running home depot couplers all around or just on the intake piping? I can see one silicone or just a heavy duty reinforced coupler off the compressor housing.
