  1. Oops sorry! I forgot to post the link! lol http://nicoclub.com/news.shtml
  2. Well atleast from Motorex. He has quite a list up on him. 1 million dollar bail. Quick sell everything he had in his building and get out of the country ASAP! lol. Appearently he still had some Skylines at his shop. Well serves him right for selling skylines for more then I could afford. Not to self.. do not monopolize selling Skylines.
  3. I made a post over at SR20forum to try to get some of the ?'s I had posted answered. http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?p=1413318#post1413318
  4. Would the coilpack setup from a rwd sr20det ignition work with a dist type setup on the FWD sr20's? Thus totally removing the distributor. I got a thumbs up with the fwd sr20/L series tranny adapter plate at just $245 for one. I had this engine awhile ago but don't really remember where all the mounts are on the block. I think this would be a great setup but much like what people with say a 4AGE 20v swap into AE86's is that the dist is in the way and the firewall would have to be umm modified. Thats why I though of possibly using the coilpack setup from the RWD SR20DET's and then just run it off of Megasquirt and then just ditch the dist. and that restrictive MAF sensor and run a map. I mean that mean just mounting the longblock and wiring that up but the drivetrain wouldn't have to be touched at all. How much easier can you get? Com'on who wouldn't want ITB's and a nice T28 and forged pistons? This is like the RB26DETT's little brother basically(minus a turbo)The L series tranny may not be the best but how much easier and cheaper can it get? The GTIR longblock is a lil more then your normal typical s13 or s14 SR20DET but it's packs more of a punch with better internals and external parts. Now I know where my money is going.
  5. I was or guess still am a member of sr20forum. Lil' red se-r was my screen name. So this could be a one problem possibly solve to getting a gtir sr20 setup for a rwd setup. The intake manifold I don't believe wouldn't be that big of a problem as I've seen them used on normal rwd sr20det in a s13. Just a lil welding was all that was needed I believe. I'm not sure there is a spot for mount on the rear side of the engine(under the intake manifold side) on the block since there's just a tranny mount if I'm not mistaken. It's been awhile since I had my gtir..... engine that is. The direction of the turbo wouldn't be that hard if maybe a rwd manifold would be used possibly.I have a friend who also has a nx2k that has a sr20det and posts on that site also. Insane Import is his name and he still posts on there I believe and is a active member.
  6. Who are you asking? Me or qwksilverawd? Me personally, I've never owned a eclipse or any dsm for that matter if this was directed at me. This is getting pretty tempting though.
  7. Hmmm you think it's possible to incorporate the iginition setup on the rwd sr20det's then you could eliminate the dist.? That would solve one problem and then you'd have to run a standalone since neither ecu would work I'd assume after that with that setup. I believe some rwd sr20det's came with spark plug wire setup and the others had coilpacks. Maybe if the valvecovers could swap over then use the coilpack setup with the gtir but now I'm just talking out my *** and way over my head with the sr20det info I know It's just an idea I came up with to try to be able to use the GTIR or VE in a rwd application. Possible or no? Also you would need the VE ecu I'd think to run it with it's variable valve dah dah dah... since I'm not sure how many standalones could run that. Right now I deciding which would be better. A 6 bolt 4G63T or a sr20det gtir. My wife would kill me since I had a GTIR before with a b13 ser I had awhile ago and sold the whole project since I had a bad shell and didn't feel like finding a new se-r shell to swap it into.
  8. I came upon this site which gives really good info on the rwd swap and different options people have with the conversion. http://www.projectzerog.com/index.shtml
  9. The intake manifold is facing the wrong way with the GTIR engine and the compressor housing is facing the firewall and if you flip the turbo around I believe there's a interfernce with the wastegate actuator and block. Also the blocks are different with the fwd and rwd engines so mounts are not gonna be the same.
  10. Link didn't work for me. I know the mighty max tranny works with the starion/conquest flywheel and clutch but I'm talking about the EVO's 4g63 since it's different from the old 4g63. If I got a 4G63 then it'd be from a 90-94 with the 6 bolt crank so I wouldn't have to worry about crank walk issues. I wonder if the bottom ends are the same then could just swap the new EVO head onto the 6 bolt shortblock. The montero 2.4 shortblock with a 4G63 head is pretty tempting also.
  11. Do any mitsu rwd trans bolt to this like the mighty max does with the normal eclipse 4G63. Or is the EVO 4G63 a completely didn't ball of wax all together since it's mounted in the opposite direction compared to the normal 4g63's? That way I wouldn't have to modify the intake manifold since the throttle body is aimed at the firewall? Just curious otherwise I'll just start my project fund for a 6 bolt 4g63 and a mighty max tranny. Thank god for the local pick and pull only charges 150 for any longblock in the yard no matter what it is. There's a 1UZ-FE there also but I don't feel like even messing around this that.
  12. I'm running 225/50/15's on my Rewinds and have the Illumina kit and works fine. Techno Toy gets a big thumbs up from me for having the colors that noone else has.
  13. Incredible! How much did that set you back? That is one beatiful piece of work. So I'm guessing that solves the annoying rearend thump. lol.
  14. So just split the piping off of the MAF into both compressor housings to still utilize the stock ecu? So could I use like a adj fmu like the cartech unit and a adj fpr with the l31det ecu to use larger injector over the stock turbo injectors.
  15. I'm new to Z's and have dealt with honda's and being able to chip ecu's or run a piggy back ecu to help with fuel management issues. Now this is a whole new ball of wax to for me to learn. I've built kits before from scratch manifold included but I hate these damn AFM's on these cars! lol. I may venture into megasquirt for the price and haven't heard too much negative stuff compared to the positive points.
  16. Instead of making a new thread. I search and found this of what I was planning on doing exactly as with the exact same turbo's even! lol. Now would there be anyway of sticking with the stock ecu and use some type of piggy ecu like a Apexi SAFC for larger injectors. Now what would I do concerning the AFM with two snails? Or is a completely different ecu be needed like SDS, Megasquirt....? The fabrication part wouldn't be the difficult for me alone with getting the flanges and everything else. Thats all covers but just that had me riddled.
  17. the wheels on the R34 snails have been well known for shattering at high rpms being ceramic.
  18. Hey don't feel bad. None of mine work. Haven't figured it out yet. New bulbs, relay. Wiring and grounds.....ehhhhh. **shivers**
  19. I'm running 225's on my 15x7 rewinds and haven't had any problems with rubbing. Even though I shelled out 520 for them from Techno Toy it was well worth it since they have some colors that noone else has.
  20. I too had/have a problem with my 280z. I'm using a buddy club seat and with my roll cage I have to mount to directly to the stock mounts with no sliders otherwise it's too close to the main hoop. I'm thinking of making some new mounts since the steering wheel is sitting quite close to the family jewels and is a pain in the arse getting in and out of the car. Keep in mind I'm only 5'6" and it feels pretty cramped for me even. Not the best picture but I already have the seat mounted as low as possible. I just need for it to clear with me and my helmet on and have the 6" of clearance from the main hoop to be scca legal.
  21. If your looking more NA sr20. The AWD SR20det from the GTIR came stock with ITB's and you may be able to bolt those onto a NA rwd sr20. Also would the NA rwd sr20 5spd trannies have a better gear ratio then say a DET being that it would be NA and more like a short ratio to use the power better or are they the same or is the strenght the same too? This has me thinking now...
  22. Time to start saving. The kid can get school loans when the time comes or else just get a full ride cause daddy's Z needs a new heart. She'll understand.
  23. When the l28e starts showing some age this is where I'm headed. I've been looking around on ebay for prices of LS1 swaps.
  24. I've picked up a couple sets of the s12's at my local pick and pull since I can get them for 20 for a set. Alot of them are covering in rust but nothing a wirewheel wouldn't clean up. Then a 94 4runner came in and I scored the calipers off of that since they were super clean and knowing that they were still fresh and god knows how long those toyo pickups and 4runners have been sitting out in the yard for. ANyways, the calipers off of the 94 4Runner are stamped s13 unlike the older 4 piston calipers with the s12 markings. These have the same mounting points but just curious if anyone has used these yet? Also for those with the s12 calipers and SS braided lines. Where do you get your lines from or can I just get SS braided lines for the 4runner for whatever year you get the calipers from or use Z lines? I've searched and read through the "brake option" FAQ thread and only saw one post about the s13's and nothing about what brake lines to use.
