  1. This has been posted about a million times. Please search the turbo/supercharger section. More than enough info is there.
  2. Congrats on the new addition!!!
  3. Well it certainly looks like you've got some Z car experience. But, maybe someone with more standalone experience can jump in here but, if it were me I would start out at a lower psi. Maybe I'm to chicken to jump in like that but, it seems like that's a steep learning curve. Like I said I'm not trying to say it can't be done but, I think some caution might be in order here.
  4. Should make for a nice combination. I don't know what your experience level is but, you might think about the lower psi actuator until you get the bugs worked out.
  5. Not trying to steal the thread but, do you think I should retorque mine I've done so twice but, it was not long after the install two years ago.
  6. So are we saying that practically all vacuum is created by the downward pull of the piston and the closed throttle plate. The intake and head(s) make very little to no differnce at idle since air flow is to low to be effected by the difference between ported and non ported items. All of this is assuming the cam, cam timing, and engine timing are all the same. What do ya think?
  7. Dude that sucks. I cringe eveytime someone doesn't stop like I think they should while at a light.
  8. I agree the stock gasket holds up well unless you get into some detionation then just about any gasket would blow(or kill pistons). Lighter flywheels seems to be a good mod. I have a stock lightened flywheel on my ZX. Don't have a good source for cheap (good) clutches anymore. The site I bought mine from is no longer offering the setup that I have. Take a look here and see what ya think. Sseveral members run these clutches. http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.html ZX's came with both the 5 and 6 digit style speedometers.
  9. I would think that a ported head could certainly have an effect on vacuum. Basically I see it as the air is seeing a restriction and that creates vacuum. The ported head could have less restiction so it now has less vacuum. Also the cam timing and the adjustments on the valves will have an effect on it as well.
  10. Totally agree that it needs to run hotter. Personally I stick with 180* and if possible get your oil temps into the low 200* range.
  11. Well It was just a thought. I wasn't sure about the shipping. I'm not surprised to hear that it's so costly. That manifold it pretty cool.
  12. So have you thought you might want to sell it? I've got both turbo and N/A manifolds I could trade also.
  13. The best gasket I've seen is the stock Nissan gasket. You will need to have perfectly flat head and block surfaces. Of course the flatness of the two surfaces is important no matter what gasket you use. You will need to retorqued the studs after the first time you run the car. Are you following the directions and torqueing to spec?
  14. Off topic but. where do I find a key for all the emblems and stuff like this? Back on topic. I think the lower timing and more boost would win out on the track. On the street I think that more timing and less total power would make for a better driving car. Like Tony, said it would be nice to make a custom map so you could have the best of both worlds.
  15. When I used to run the almost exact same setup as your only with a bigger turbo I would have to dial in more fuel if the temp was 60*/70* on day and then 20*/30* the next. Not that this happens often but, does happen in the Dallas area atleat once a year in the winter.
  16. I've got the old style Greedy Profec B. Very relieable and constistant. Electronic is the only way to go. Especially if anyone other than you will be driving the car at any time.
  17. Dude you need a bigger intercooler! I think there's atleast 1/2" on each side your not using... Heeeheeee!
  18. I think that Jon has a good idea here. You can get a A/F gauge cheap if you get one that only uses a 1 wire O2 sensor. Ofcourse a wideband would be nice.
