  1. I feel you guys, same thing going down out here near northridge(SFV)
  2. this should definitely be something to see when it's done. keep up posted with teasers until then! good luck and may the boost be with you
  3. The p90 head is going to result in lower compression, so detonation would be less of an issue here. More boost = more power and with less compression, you can run more boost. Although you can have a great setup with the n47 head, its easier to tune a low compression motor. That one whole point in compression might not be worth the few extra pounds of boost you can run with a 7.3CR. BTW you can always look at it as traction control, since a lower compression motor will result in longer spool!
  4. IMHO, this doesn't really sound like a bad idea at all; however, what are you planning on using for fuel control? I'm not sure if the quench of the p90 head will be ruined with the L26 flattops, but as you read above...it's been done and it was sucessful (I'm assuming with no detonation lol). A stock l28et can take upwards of 300whp on pump gas, so with the stock T3 turbo, p90 head and the l26 block some race fuel, I think your goal, 300hp(not whp) should be attainable, but not without an intercooler and race fuel(just to be safe). If you haven't looked into megasquirt for fuel control, you might want to check it out...but be prepared to learn A LOT. Good luck and keep us updated if you decide to actually do this, this should be interesting.
  5. I am pretty sure this turbo can support 350whp easily. The stock T3 can produce more or less 300whp @ ABOUT 1 bar, and at that point, the T3 is out of it's efficency range. Running this turbo @ 18-19 psi would still keep this turbo in it's efficiency range(as stated earlier) and with the supporting fuel mods (ems, inj. etc.), I don't see why 350whp is not attainable.
  6. btw, check out MSA www.motorsportauto.com if you want to buy pre-fabbed.
  7. Just my .02, but I think you might as well just do a downpipe with full exhaust if you're doing a straight test pipe. The turbo muffles the exhaust so, no, the sound won't really be too obnoxious. Just pick up some U-bends and straight piping and have a good shop weld up a full exhaust. I did this and I spent $60 on piping(2 - 3in. U-bends and ten feet of 3in. SS steel piping) and I paid a shop $75 to cut the u - bend for the downpipe and weld up a full exhaust...o yeah I have a muffler as well so I paid for that too...not a bad deal for a 3in downpipe and exhaust, and the gains aren't too bad either(turbos kick ass)
  8. my condolences to you and your family john.
  9. wow, I'm speechless...I have been waiting for your ride to get painted for some time now, but now that this thing is painted, it is defenitely one of my favorite and probably one of the most tasteful s30's I have ever seen. More pics please!
  10. doesn't look like it should be a problem judging by your 1/8mi., but best of luck anyways! any pics of your ride anywhere?
  11. never purchase a car that is not running unless you're ready to jump into a money pit or YOU KNOW exactly what's wrong. nonetheless, that is way too much to pay for a s30...check out our classifieds for a better idea.
  12. honestly, I love the decal....never take it off
  13. don't look at it as getting older, it's just more life experience than the rest of us!! have a great birthday Warren!
  14. naviathan, i do not have a stim at the moment and i think u might be right about the battery. My battery doesn't seem to hold a charge and I need to recharge it everytime I mess with this thing. I will check all of the above mentioned this weekend as I don't have access to the car on the weekdays, thanks for all your help guys.
  15. Well, it's been a 2 year ordeal and I still have almost no clue what I'm doing. I bought an MS v2.2 back in 2005 and have spent countless hours trying to run it on the l28et in my 260, but have never successfully started it. I've recieved help from mobythevan multiple times(much thanks), but it seems like I don't know enough about megasquirt or my car to be nosediving into this whole megasquirt deal. As the car sits, it won't start, and when I turn the key I get a fast clicking sound that I think might be coming from the injectors. My initial though was that the firmware was corrupt so using the easy them I tried reloading the firmware. Using the appropriate COM port and utilizing the bootloader I still get an error message stating a boot error. I'm kinda stuck, an ideas? I really just want to get this running and lay the smack down on some local ♥♥♥♥ talking EG6 hatches. Any information is helpful because I'm kind of lost at this point.
  16. it's definitely an upgrade and compliments the car well
  17. haga fakhma sahiih, looking good man...I wanna be the first one to soil my pants when u give me a ride:mrgreen:
  18. I think that two hy35's would do the job just fine. Each turbo is rated for 350hp+. The HX35 is a pretty big turbo which is rated for about 550 and with 3.0l of exhaust gases feeding each turbo, I'm not sure it will be enough for the quick spool most look for in a TT application. Additionally, the only way to truly utilize the HX35's divided housing is with split pulse exhaust manifolds, which can cost you a good amount of money. Is there enough room under your hood for two hx35s with that motor anyways? I don't know how well the head on your motor flows and I don't know what you're looking for as far as driveability or power so my knowledge is limited. If spool time is not a big deal, try an hx35/40 hybrid as this could be a good option for a high horsepower application with considerably quick spool. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7e3QcQhSOA this is great... i wish i could give u some direction , but i'm not knowledgable enough to help...awesome idea though and good luck!
