We call em corn snakes. Polite little things.
  2. Perfect beer = cup of Maker's Mark. Nice vid,
  3. Thanks for the words, hehe. Yeah, we have a few little projects going on, I think I have the next 18 years of my free time accounted for already. One of these days I'll have the money to get started back on my Z. Who knows. I'll definatly get some pics ASAP and keep a little updated gallery here while we work. Should be hitting the shop Monday or Tuesday, wasnt able to secure a truck the first week, so we lost a few days. We hope to be in full steam very shortly and kicking ass. The car is really in great shape so I dont see it taking us very long at all to get it in primer and blocked down. The roof will need some work but I have a plan. All the while I work on the Z I have to stare at this damn Triumph front end thing I have to work on.. Im terrified of that, there is literally, not ONE SQUARE INCH of the damn thing that doesnt need something, whether its filler, new metal, sandblasted, metal worked, patched or just thrown away. *sigh*
  4. I dont usually care for the G-Nose on Z's but that is just stupendous. I keep seeing these heavily body modded Z's and start to look at my plans and seriously consider changing the nature of my project. Those flares just look AMAZING with the G-Nose.. God, you poeple are gonna keep throwing this gold at me and keep forcing me to re-evaluate my plans, lol. Pro as me thinking 2Jz, and now this for a G-nose and flares.. Anyway, absolutely amazing, it is now my official favorite Z, lol
  5. Absolutely gorgeous looking. That is one fantastic looking car, clean, bad-ass, everything a car should be IMO I want that engine to have my babies. How'd you do in the competition?
  6. I dunno, looks like another fly by night deal to me. You say 80k isnt much with no fuel bill yes? What about re-charge costs? The electricity that thing sucks is most likely extremely substantial, so how will your electric bill be effected? Also keep in mind, even IF the gas was 0 and the recharge cost was tiny tiny, ts a whole ♥♥♥♥-ton harder to qualify for a loan that large than one for say, 15k to get into a little Focus or the like. Also, it says it charges over night, cool, so you better make sure you plan exactly what you'r doing, how and when. Now, a 250 mile range is way more than you'd need day to day, but 'm just making the point that its not the same as a car you pop into a gas station, 5 minutes later you'r back on the road with a tank full of gas and a 300+ mile range, etc. It boasts some nice performance numbers, nice range etc, but its ultra light, this technology starts to fade heavily in the face of larger cars meant to deal with a family and the day to day ass-kicking required out of a vehicle like that. I want electric cars (or any manner of alternative fuel vehicles) to succeed but theres no single solution, I think our salvation lies in a number of different and strongly supported options from gas, ethanol, bio deisel, hybrids, pure electrics, deisel, the garbage oil manufacturing process, etc etc etc. Its a neat little experiement, but its nothing special, just a niche little car that shows the electric concept is functional if any and all factors are perfect, which in the day to world, they rarely are. Little thing looks sexy as hell though.
  7. I didnt misspell it.. Somerset hosts it, hence the perversion. So, its in Somerset Ky, 4th Saturday of every month, huge car show, cruise afterwards, very fun. Several hundred poeple show up every time, its a pretty massive event, we have folks from everywhere. Good time is had by all, but so far I havent seen ONE DAMN Z. Well, I saw a non turbo 300zx with a spray can primered body kit and a dipshit driving it that said it made 400hp, but thats it. We need some Z folks to roll in! I know we have some Zers in Tennessee and through Ky. I'm half tempted to bust out my shell with no floors and all and bring it with me, lol. I'll push the damn thing. Maybe I'll just grab a Z badge or tw0 and glue em on my SHO, So, if anyone lives around the area, lemme know, we should try and organize something and bring some Z's out there. August, September and October cruises are still left. Z's need some representation! American muscle is out in force with a few peices of crap thrown in and some oddballs for good measure, but nooo Zs. We cant have that!
  8. I'd love to get my hands on an SSP 'Stang, little foxes can be worth some good money. Theres a guy in Somerset that has an SSP Fox that has like 12 miles on it. The Somerset police folks ordered it and for whatever reason it ended up in Police storage, in a big garage thing, totally untouched and undriven for years and years. This guy is an officer, stumbles across it, ends up buying it for a song. It still had the plastic on the seats and such, every peice of paperwork.. very slick.
  9. I wet myself, but only a little. Then I saw the motor and wet myself alot. I'm gonna take a shower and change myself.
  10. Its gonna be a blast, thats for sure. Traction is going to kill us initially. We're upgrading to the Capri rims (14x5.5 i think) which will help, but their kinda heavy, so we'll see how it pans out. As soon as all the kinks are worked out and we bless the thing and call it "done" from a mechanical standpoint we're gonna get some light rims and actual drag slicks. I'm thinking on street tires we'll be lucky to put down a low 13. Again though, all my time estimates are based around the car when it has the DP we're buying, which it wont have initially, we expect by the end of this month, but the funds arent there right now. All in all though, we are really close to having this thing ready to start. Plumb the passenger side I/C piping, plumb the coolant system, put the fuel filter in, hook the wiring up, install axles, mount the AFM and button all the mounts and such up and we can turn the key. I made an adapter last night so the AFM will accept a cone filter, I had to use 2.5in piping, where 3in would have been preferable (the 2.5 blocks off a little of the AFM's inlet) but the way its made there isnt room for a 3in. Atleast not for a 3in. with any hope of a seal around the AFM inlet, but if this design proves too restrictive, I'll figure something out. Now we just need to buy the air filter.. hehe.
  11. Mextiva is the Festy to beat, we hope to be close to his times when its done (once we get the DP that is) and we're thinking some nitrous down the road.. Go go gadget low 12's =] Oh, small update, started to plumb it all. radiator has to be further modified before we can finish the passenger side =/ Oh, the infant isnt mine, heh, nor is the car actually, belongs to my roommate. He and I are building it, since I dont have kids, and hate them with a passion, I can put time in he cant afford to, so progress gets done regardless.
  12. For anyone that cares, we're back on track now that we have our slightly modded radiator. we found one to fit but we had to have a radiator shop cut the bottom outlet and move it to the side so it didnt hit the turbo, heh. If I had a welder that could handle aluminum I could have done it, but I dont and mores the pity. Atleast its starting to look like a damn car again, lol. I/C piping is being a pain, very limited space. i think we're gonna grab two 90 degree 2.5in. elbows of like Semi radiator hose or something to make the bends. I hate them being at such an angle but we gotta work with what we got. Anyway, we're closing in, 2 weeks maybe and we'll be able to drive it. All the brackets and mountes are just tacked together, they arent finish welded, dressed or cleaned up any, so their ugly. Oh, and theres a clutch and a baby.. yeah.
  13. You all should spend some time in our little beater Civic. Talk about power. 300k miles and it thinks a tuneup is a myth. Buddy it hauls asssssss.
  14. "The pedestrian ran for the sidewalk, but I got him" Owned.
  15. Can I have all that stuff in that picture? *cough*.
  16. I tend to do things and say to myself "What would I say if someone else had done what I just did?". Usually at that point I throw away whatever I was doing and go inside to cry a little in my closet.
  17. If your looking for a decent quality, low budget primer, we use Marhyde at school. Its pretty cheap but for the money (65$ for a gallon + catalyst) its not really that bad. I've used it extensively and I like it. (for the cost that is). I've used some Transtar products and like them as well, they seem to be a pretty good product for the money.
  18. I saw a pair of DET powered SE-R's at Beach Bend earlier this year when I took the SHO down there (to be disappointed and learn I cant launch it worth a damn =/). They were look-a-likes, one black, one red, same rims, same hood, the whole deal, was kind cool. They both ran 12.7's all day. I didnt get a chance to talk to them though and see what all they had, all i got was that they were both DET'd. I want an SE-R, I was very impressed with them, they look like a blast to drive. Yours is sharp man, very clean. SR20 swap a Z =]
  19. They write on the metal just fine? I've had trouble with regular sharpies not writing worth a damn. Gonna grab a pack of these. I need to redo one of the motor mounts on the Festy.. this could be helpful. Danke sir.
  20. I wish with all my soul I loved closer to this guy. Hell, I wish I could find a rust free Fairlady shell, even if it was JUSt a shell, not one single peice with it, I'd pay that 750$. I'd sell my SHO buy it and have it shipped here, *sigh* really good deal if the car is actually rust free and the body work was done correctly.
  21. Just a little update; I took everyones suggestions, bought some brake grease and pulled the pins out, lubed it all up along with the caliper slides. Took it for a test drive and right away I started to smell brakes, which is good, means the outer pads are engaging. I took a look after the drive and all seems to be well. Shortly after I put my new tie rods on and completely borked my suspension, so it drove really well for a few minutes atleast. Counted the threads but it didnt help, lol. Goes in for alignment tomarrow. Thanks fellas. as always the knowledge on this board comes through.
  22. How about someone with an extra running Z trade me it and I'll paint their other Z.. Sorry, off topic. Welcome. This is about the most knowledgable place you'r gonna find. EXCELLENT looking SE-R. What kind of times do those little buggers run? (DET swapped).
  23. Just a little aside.. Body filler will absorb moisture, most spray can primers do not block or stop moisture in any way, so it'll get wet pretty easily. Enough moisture in the bondo will not only rust the metal but cause the filler to crack and fail (we had a problem with this on a Mazda truck we did at school). I know your repairs are only temporary and I dont know what paint you used, but it looked like a spray can primer. Just wanted to warn ya, you may want to get an enamal or something water proof to spray over the repair to further waterproof it.
  24. 1st Gen DSM's, atleast the 6/4 combo ('92) dont have any real crank walk issues. As a matter of fact, havng been involved with them for years, Ive never seen one die for that reason, ever. Its just something poeple perpetuate 'cause they heard it from someone else. as to the thread, the more options for the Z, the better. The issues I see though are the transmission being able to handle the power and the cost of the parts start to get prohibitive. You mentioned 3000$ + 1500$ for the motor/tranny, 4500$ will put an L28et in the car and well along its way to kicking serious ass, or go a long way to getting V8 destruction. I like the idea, its different, but I dont see it as an option thats any better than the other options available just yet. Down the road if the price for SRT motors drops some it may start to look alot better.
  25. I really like those, sharp cars. Keep us updated! How's the rust situation?
