  1. I spend 4 hours a day blasting. You wouldn't want to blast the undercoating. It would bounce off and you would probably warp the metal with the power you need to get off rubber. Keep doing what you are doing, then when done, blast with light pressure to clean everything up before you do whatever you do to protect it from here on in. Good luck.
  2. Anyone?? Called Blackdragon and they said all they have is "ground effects springs 70-73 240z". Wondering what the spring rate is. Also if they should work fine with kyb gr-2's. They came with the car also. Thanks
  3. OK. Here's a pic on the oem strut housings w/spindle. I will call Black Dragon and see if they can help me. I also ended up getting 4 new KYB gr-2's with the car and want to make sure they will work because some things say the KYB's won't work with lowered springs. Thanks
  4. I just got a73 240z with 2 boxes of springs from Victoria British dated 1994, the numbers on the box are 87-631 rears and 87-630 front. The invoice said Ground Effects Springs but I can't find any info on them. They are silver and have different paint blotched on the bottom. Also a tag says there is a left vs. right. So if anyone has an old catalog laying around with those catalog numbers if you could let me know what they are. Thanks Chris
  5. Mine is set up the same way, 72 with 82 turbo motor, na dist.
  6. After 27 years they weren't polished any more. Also they had corrosion divits, so I had to sand down below them all at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock on all four. I wanted the corrosion resistance and the ease of cleaning. This is a smooth gloss coating, very easy to clean.
  7. I blasted down the rims off my 82 turbo parts car and coated them a single coat transparent black/grey. Put falken 912's 225/50/15 on them. They ride nice and quiet. It also got rid of the shimmy in the steering wheel from the other tires. All around I'm pleased. I didn't clean them after they put them on so the spots are some wax. I also blasted and coated the lug nuts.
  8. I just pulled my fuel rail on my 240zt because I had a leaky injector. The 2 FJ23 D1710BA's look totally different at the output. Does having 4 oem and 2 FJ23 style make any difference before I put it back on? There is a good difference in length. Thanks
  9. Congrats! Good for you!!!! Enjoy it.
  10. I just installed an Arizona z car radiator into my 72 240z with an 82 turbo motor. When I redid it all and flushed out the block, I put in a new gates thermostat and pulled out a nissan thermostat with an air vent on it. I just went through the cooling sections on the 240z FSM, 78 FSM and 82 FSM. My 240zt doesn't have an overflow tank. Now with the thermostat I put in it, it doesn't have an air vent. I drove today and it ran great and stayed much cooler than before. Do I need an overflow container? Do I need the air vent on the thermostat? Thanks Chris
  11. When I outgas old valve covers before I powdercoat them, the oil starts to "burn" at 340. Up until 300 or so it just thins out more.
  12. Of course you all want to know what I would do, so I won't make you wait any longer. 8) Since the steering is on the other side and you have room, go twin turbo, just because you can, and well, we can't.
  13. At my shop, the smell would drop you to the floor.
  14. I couldn't find a good pic yet of a hotside turbo I did but this one is ok, it's also 2000 degree ceramic.
  15. To give some an idea of what used headers look like after coating. I just did a set of square port Z headers for a project I'm working on. They were on E-Bay USED and I blasted them down smooth and coated them inside and out with 2000 degree Black Velvet ceramic. I finally remembered to get a before and after. The collectors get very hot so that is important especially on a 6 into 1 or a 3 -2. Before: After:
  16. Thanks, and these pics are in my garage not my shop. 8)
  17. Wangan Midnight, that car has already killed 3... just waiting...... damian...
  18. Thanks for the comments. I got it 2 weeks ago from MSA, everything lines up perfect even the 280z label over the glove. My only problem is the rheostat, I can't loosen it to move it over a bit, it touches the left side of the dash so I can't blame the cap. I'm putting it in my stock 78 not the white one in the picture though that has a 77 interior and dash also.
  19. both, color doesn't make a difference. The chrome can't go as high because the chrome is really aluminum particles, that is why when sprayed it looks really rough and you need a special vibratory tumbler to polish it and it won't take 2000, the reason they don't give color options at that temp, they would all discolor badly, even the black can lighten to a charcoal. I have coated the inside of the housing and had no tolerance issues and it should spool slightly faster because the edge gap has been decreased (I've done a few, but they are all different, your mileage may vary.) Don't spray heavy and don't get runs on the inside. The general idea has been said, ceramic keeps the heat in and flowing out verses radiating out to other parts and helping clear the exhaust chamber at high rpms. Jet-Hot is a company name they do ceramic coating and use the same as everyone else. There's only 2 places in the US that make the ceramic and both lines are almost identical. Let me know what they quote you. 8)
  20. They ended up coming off. They were corroded so they didn't come off easy. The cap fits close but I will have to move the rheostat over a 1/4 inch or cut into it, unless I can loosen the bracket and move it around.
  21. I'm installing the full dash cover from MSA on my 78 280z. Everything lines up perfect but it looks like the knobs for trip reset and interior dimmer need to be removed to get it on right. Is there anyway to get the knobs off without removing the dash? I've removed the small plastic panel under the column that is still on in the pics and can't seem to get my hand near where it has to be.
  22. I found a powder that looks like the defroster duct and blasted and coated it in a wrinkle black and also did the screws. I'm also putting in a full dash cap and it looks very close in texture and color. I'm psyched the way it came out.
  23. I just did one for a 240sx powdercoated in candy blue to match the greddy pullies I did for him. I can posts pics monday.
