  1. Looks good. Last weekend at NHIS COM had a 2 day session up there was nice. You can check out there site at http://www.comscc.org Also I'm a member of http://www.zccne.org and we are doing some cool stuff this year. We'd love to see the car. I just registered my 72 240 w/turbo today and took it out for a run down 93, was nice. I'd like to go megasquirt also, I'm using a 77 elec system. Hope to see hte car around. Chris
  2. I have no front drivers side directional and intermittent passenger front directional, the rears work fine hazard and turn. I took apart the hazard switch and cleaned it and all connectors with elec. contact cleaner. My car is a 72 with an 81 turbo motor with 77 electronics & dash. I also have a78z and pulled the flasher and switched them, same result. I cleaned the light switch on the column with cleaner also. When I put the multimeter in the bulb socket when the flasher is on the meter jumps from 0 to 6-8 volts. I think it's getting all but turing off and on quick for the meter. But the bulb doesn't light. Yet the same bulb lights fine when the parking lights are on. All I can think of at this point is a bad ground but why would the parking lights work fine? This is the last hurdle to get the car inspected. Please advise. Thanks Chris
  3. Well, went back out there and decided to get it no matter what. This is what I came up with. I wanted to use the stock clock housing and not use RTV to hold it in. This is nice and tight holding the front bezel on. You can see on the straight on shot it is just sitting there but holding it all together it is nice and tight. I will install it tomorrow and post pics when done. Chris
  4. I did a lot of searching but couldn't find an answer. When people put the autometer 2310 boost gauge in the 77 280 dash, how do they mount it in the original clock housing. I cut the back out but the vacuum line in hits the retaining bar that is attached to the housing by 4 small screws? I would llke to retain all the clock housing but I can't quite make it fit without tilting the gauge to the side. I checked out on zhome but that is not for a boost gauge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Chris
  5. Wow that looks awesome. I can't wait to see it. Getting some nice cars in the club. Power & LSD must be nice. Great work. Chris
  6. My old belt was oily and spent but deflection was fine. Car would go for a couple weeks then dead battery. I put a new belt on and cleaned all the grime of all the pulleys. Car ran excellent after. I used a multimeter and Blue's link to testing output with a multimeter and before the belt was changed with headlights on high, wipers on high and heater fan on high, the meter read 12.74 which is to low supposed to 13 or higher. After the belt change under the same load it read 13.64. Perfect I thought, car runs way better, charging light is not dimly lit anymore. Just to make sure I go back to autozone and the same guy comes to test it, says it looks alot better, but when their "Machine" puts it under load it reads only 12volts???? I ask him why the difference in readings and he says their machine puts a "bigger" load on the alternator. My question is if it reads all good under the "cars" heavy load, is it fine??? Or is that machine for newer cars with much more electronics in them and thats why the "load" is so high? or is my alternator really not up to the job?????? Before I put this new alternator in can someone give me their opinion? Thanks Chris
  7. No problem. Actually that car is stock suspension, so lowered it would fill the wheelwell better. Chris
  8. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=108225 I just posted pics on this thread, but was also looking for opinions on wheel color with this car. I also have a set of rewinds in silver and another in graphite. Those wheel/tires are intended for my 72 pearl white 240zt. What do you think will look better with the car as shown 301 brown? Silver or Graphite rewinds? I think I will get another set of GForce Sports 225/50/15 for whatever color combo as they blow anything else away I've ever had on any car. I don't have pictures of the silver ones(they don't have tires on them) but I was leaning towards them as I have seen some silver on that color car and thought they bring it out more than the darker graphite. Opinions??? Thanks Chris
  9. Here are some pics I took saturday before the blizzard. I just had the tires mounted last week and put them saturday. The ones on it were 195/70/14(picture is of same day before putting on new tires), I had a steering wheel shimmy at 80 that was driving me nuts, had the tires balanced twice and rotated them twice to no avail. The new tires are 225/50/15 on rewinds, gForce Sports. I had the new ones force mounted and road balanced on a hunter machine. I drove it saturday and couldn't wipe the grin from my face. NO vibration at all up to 100+. I also put urethane steering rack bushings, control arm and a steering coupler in. The steering wheel was smooth as silk through all speeds. The tires are amazing, awesome grip. They are actually going on my 240zt, but this one was registered and inspected so I was getting sick of driving my truck and put them on the 280 for the day(glad I did). I recommend them fully. I plan on putting silver rewinds with these tires on this car. Do people think the silver will look better or should I stay with graphite? Hope these pics help. Chris
  10. I'm a member of zccne.org also. If you are wondering what's going on or have any suggestions, create a thread in the forums. I joined after doing the fall Bridge Rally run and had a blast. NH has some nice twisting mountain roads and hopefully will be doing many runs. I've got a stock '78 280z that I use as a daily driver in the spring-fall and a '72 240z Turbo(actually z-REX's old car), that I will be running hard come spring. Definately check the forums as the club will be doing more cruise night type things and attending as many events as possible. The more people that join and participate, the better the club will be. I look forward to interacting with all local Z enthusiaists. And the club does have a car, right now it is in the process of getting a SUPERCHARGER put on, yeha!!!! Chris
  11. Yeha, It's my B-Day also today!!! hybrid-Z rules. And don't worry z-REX I am talking good care of the '72 240 Turbo, done alot to it. As a matter of fact, I'll post some pics of the new wheels and tires in a bit. Chris
  12. SShhhhwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttt!!!! Looks like a nice track. 8)
  13. MightyVac should help. If not still a good investment $29, just used it to test my EGR valve on my ranger.
  14. Just wondering if anyone knows who has the car. If they show it, race it, etc... It's a small state here . Chris
  15. Funny from horse cars with spoke wheels to air tires, back to horse car wheels, only difference is spokes that go back to shape. Michelin must have been waiting for the horse caraige(sp?) wheel patent to run out. I wonder if the lateral resistance would hold up on a D1 drift machine? And how much it transfers hits to the suspension? It looks llike it would be better in a slow moving application, but that is not what Audi is about so all I can say is good for them and it's great to look back at an earlier idea and rebuild upon it with modern advances, but then again what the hell do I know.
  16. Thanks, I went with the 225/50's. By the way I saw American Touge and your fast AE86, looked like alot of fun, they seemed impressed, makes me wish I was in California!! Great work.! Chris
  17. Last post on this thread from me. I ended up ordering the BF Goodrich G-Force Sport 225/50/15. After reading recommendations it seemed the best bang for the buck.
  18. The time lapse photo of the plugs is excellent. It shows how consistant your firings are and make me wonder why someone would use split plugs etc.. The chance of getting a 50/50 spark on a multiple pole setting seem much more remote than the consistant spark you are showing in the single pole set-up. Thanks for documenting your work in progress, obviously alot of work into it. Chris
  19. What, no wipers? Surely that will bring the asking price down a few thousand dollars.
  20. Someone on a Z site threw up an add for a MSA 4 core radiator on Ebay. I won it, paypaled and they never sent it. I only had 10 days left to dispute and did and got my money back. The guy went through 5 excuses before I disputed, seemed all nice and all. He never planned on shipping it. I would recommend paypal, they were good to me. Chris
  21. I guess you'e right about hijacking the thread, I'll try not to make it a habit. Oooops.! I live near Concord. Chris
  22. The car looks good Rob, glad you joined ZCCNE, we will have to definately get some rides in. I've been searching for tires and it looks like I'm going to get 225/50/15 Falken 512's from tires.com discounttiredirect.com . They are $62 ea. with free shipping. Best deal I could find. For $220 the rewinds can't be beat. I have the silver and graphite, I will put the silver on my #301Brown 280z and the graphite on my pearl white '240zT. I'm only going to get one set of the flaken's for now since I have brand new 14's on one now. DOH! Once I start a new job I'll get the other set. I will be hosting a spring club get together, we can work on the cars, shoot the $hit and go for a N.H. Z cruise. I live about middle of Mass. and Me. so it won't be much of a hall for u guys. Looking forward to the warm weather and cruising with others.
